We had an offer accepted for AKV October UY. We typically travel October or April, sometimes December. Did I mess up by offering for a month that we usually travel? Now I'm second guessing myself.

I had thought about this too, as I have an August contract and about to get a December one. However, as I am from the UK I book my flight and trip 10 months or so in advance. Once its booked, its booked and unlikely to change. Therefore whilst I will be January every 2 years, I dont think my UY in reality makes any difference.......

You can book starting Oct 1st and bank until May 31st. So an Oct use year is a great choice.👍

Just to clarify, you do not have to wait until Oct to book. UY doesn’t play a role in when you book, only which points are eligible for the trip.

For example, if someone wants to travel in April 2021 an Oct UY, they can call in May 2020 to book it.

Since the trip is in the 2020 UY, the owner can use banked 2019, 2020, and borrow from 2021...up to 50% of the contract right now,,,to finish up the reservation

Did the seller already bank the 2019 points into 2020? If not make sure they do before May 31st.

Remember that currently you cannot borrow more than 50% of next year's points. We don't know how long DVC will have that rule, but it could affect your reservations with two UYs.
