Ok very off topic - please don't hate me for posting this. We are staying onsite for 9 nights but are going to be coming in the night before from visiting Cape Canaveral. We want to stay somewhere just outside Disney World so we can just check in first thing in the morning. Does anyone have any idea where we could stay that one night? thanks in advance.

If it's money then I suggest looking at somewhere cheaper maybe at DTD there are a number of places listed on Mousesavers or on Deb Willis site that are recommend.

If it's not cost, why would you want to wait until the am to check in when there is a good possiblity of not getting your room until 4pm. I'd just book another night at the same resort and settle in the night before you planned.

We did that one year and it wound up being more of a hassle. I think we stayed in a travelodge. It wasn't the cleanest and we felt very rushed. I think it all depends on the details - by the time we unloaded the cars and went to dinner we had to get up really early and do it all over again.
Is it an option for you to stay at a value resort and have them move your stuff or if your have a package, stay room only for the first night.
Sorry, I don't know if this helps or makes it worse!

I agree, if you try to check in first thing in the A.M. you will most likely have to check your bags with the bellhop while you visit the parks and then come back later to get your room keys and settle in. I would go ahead and pay for the extra day, if that is an option. Othewise I would try the value resort (as said by a fellow poster) for a night and have them move your luggage to the new resort the following day. (at least that way you are at disney and don't have to pack and unpack the car).

money isn't the worry. i checked with our travel agent and he said i would have to rebook the whole trip. We did the whole disney plan thing. Would they let us just get a room for that night and not the plan? Also, would we have to change rooms at all the next night if we got the same resort?

thanks for everyone's advice :)

The Embassy suite just outside of property (just past goodings) is very nice. They have suite rooms so you can spread out. They have a nice cocktail hour with snacks every night and the complimentary breakfast in the morning is quite a nice way to start your day.

You could do a room-only ressie for that one night and not have to change your package. Normally you can get the two ressies connected so you don't have to change rooms, but I'm not sure you can do that if your package is thru a TA unless the TA also does the room-only ressie.

I just used hotelkingdom.com to book a room for my "night before check-in" at an off-site timeshare. They seemed to have some pretty good deals. I got a Cypress Point (less than a mile from DTD) studio for $70/tx included. They also had 1-2 bedrooms pretty reasonable. Also, Beuna Vista Suites (also pretty close to WDW Entrance) has some pretty good rates $89-99 for a 1 bedroom suite.

Another option would be Hotwire or Priceline.

There should be no reason(except the hotel being at capacity) that your TA can't book a room only for the night before. If he won't I would call myself. You don't have to rebook.
Good Luck!
