My in-laws are planning on a Caribbean cruise next summer for their 50th anniversary. They've never been on one and it's been 21 years since I was on a cruise. I've suggested that they find a good travel agent, but was wondering if anyone has had any good (or bad) experiences recently? They wouldn't be doing a Disney cruise. Thanks in advance.

My folks and my family and a group of their friends all went on a Caribbean cruise last year. It was their 50th anniversary as well. It was on Royal Caribbean Navigator of The Seas and we all had the best time. Any questions just ask. We had a really good agent!

In April I hosted a group of 53 on Royal Caribbean's Voyager of the Seas. In a word....Amazing! No complaints from any of the group. This ship (and her sister ships) are the largest ships in the world next to the Queen Mary 2 which is just slightly larger. It features in addition to the usual pools, clubs, kids facilities, spas etc., an ice skating rink (where you can see an awesome ice show), rock climbing wall, in line skating, mini golf the most gorgeous dining room on land or sea, and a four story royal promenade which features a shopping mall, pub, ice cream facility, and cafe. The entertainment included everything from the normal vegas/broadway type shows to comedians, game shows, production shows (the Platter's performed when we were on board) and the aforementioned ice show. If they haven't cruised before they really should learn all they can about cruising in advance of the cruise. Activities ran the gamut from art auctions to bingo to cooking demonstrations, the usual contests, exercise and dance classes, and much more.

In short, I would definitely recommend Royal Caribbean's Voyager or her sister ships Explorer, Navigator, Mariner or Adventurer. Beware however that these ships will spoil them. They will be hooked on cruising forever!

We did a Caribbean cruise with Princess (Grand Princess) and absolutely loved it. They would not be disappointed. We've also cruised with Celebrity and found it to be great. I don't think you can go wrong with either of those 2 or Royal Carribean. Good luck!

may i suggest celebrity cruise lines...it is kinda of the upper scale royal carib. but not snotty at all.. it doesn't have the constant announcements of bingo, etc., the food is just a little better quality, the ships interior a little more stately, and the service just a little better. i felt the overall cruise experience with celebrity more dignified without being stodgy(this from a 30 something). not that i have anything wrong with carnival, rccl, and the others(i would certainly cruise with them again if the price is right) but a 50th anniv. cruise should be a little more classy than pandering.

My friends just got back from a RCL cruise (Voyager of the seas) and they had the best time! They were worried about it before because they didn't think they would like a cruise, they just had to go for a family reunion. Now they can't wait to go back.

I would highly suggest a travel agent who specializes in cruises. We booked our carnival cruise with our regular travel agent and she booked our returning flight too early. There was a huge delay with customs so we were still on the cruise when our plane took off :scared1: Lesson learned.
