Another major fire broke out during the night in Astoria. You may remember the hardware store fire here during the summer that took the life of 4 of New York's Bravest. During last night, a major fire broke out in a furniture warehouse/showroom on the shore of the East River about 6 city blocks from our house. On arising this morning before 6AM, we could smell smoke in the house. The radio informed us where the fire was. 16 hours later, it is still burning & the smell of smoke has permeated the house due to the high winds in NYC today. Two Firefighters have been injured, but not seriously, I believe. Please say a prayer for these heroes who put their lives on the line each & every day they go to work.
On a positive note, we received a package from the DVC today, containing 2 Mickey ears flag pins. This is just what we needed to give our morale a boost.
