Off to Neverland...A BOGO Trip Report! PG 44 ~ It's over

PART VI: Guess where we’re going?

AK, is truly a  beautiful park. I mean this in the most Nod-da-Zoo kinda way. If you take the time, you really will see some amazing sights. Unfortunately, my commando-ness does not generally allow for any of the fuzzy wuzzy AK feelings normally.

Today was a new day! We found ourselves walking out of AK, with no crowds around enjoying the view.

DH & I were feelin good that Lil’l Diz Man told us his CHEEK felt much better. I say CHEEK, because for the rest of the trip when anyone attempted to ask him about his SHINER, he promptly corrected them, making sure it was perfectly CLEAR that his CHEEK was injured in a bus accident and NOT his eye!;)

I must admit, either we are surely stupid or Disney really messed up on the bus entrances.:lmao: I am sure it is most likely to be the stupid part.

We got in line for our evening destination and were like, “Wow! There sure are a lot of people going here tonight…” The line was coming out of the queue by about 30 people.

DH looks at me with the…so you think you’re the big DIS planning, outsmarting everyone kinda lady look. And says, “thought MGM was having extra magic hours tonight…Are you sure you read the calendar right? Sure you didn’t make a mistake?”… Then gave me the MS. Smarty pants, eyebrow lift look.

:scratchin I promptly pulled out my perfectly planned itinerary and looked over the day… not paying any attention to anything going on outside our spots in line!
“Hmm, looks correct”… Bewildered we stood for about another 20 minutes…line NOT moving an inch! :rolleyes1

Finally I looked up and see a bus for our destination and know we won’t make it on this one, but heck…it is a great sign! I do the all to familiar, “oh here one comes” and nod, since this IS a requirement for all WDW transportation users…DON’T forget it…they just may not let you on if you do!

When the bus stopped, there was just one little, tiny problem…it forgot to stop where we where. Yep folks, we parked our selves and the double wide in the wrong line! Yep.

Here is another Tip for you…pay attention… WHEN GETTING IN LINE AT THE AK, MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE IN THE CORRECT LINE. The signs up above do not match up with the entrance of the line in which you are trying to stand. Don’t think that we learned our lessons either, since on the next visit…we did the same thing! (So that I don’t feel like a total idiot, I will point out that on both trips to AK we saw & heard people in the wrong line for their destinations…com’mon AK get with it…geeze…)

I am happy to report that once in the correct line, we were promptly able to load onto a bus.

Yes, this was an uneventful bus ride, with the exception of TINK, who got it in here cute little head that sitting on momma’s lap was not fun and would rather LAY across it :rotfl2: (yea, this will prove to be a fun, funny, not so fun for momma thing on every bus ride for here on out).

Next stop. Is a must for my family. We try to make it our 1st Disney experience every trip!

This trip however, over planning, selfish mama veto'ed it to #2, so that she could see the AK parade! None of that catering to every woe of my kin’s, this is also MOMMA’s trip! I’ve had enough napping during every mid day parade…my turn to put my worries behind and MY itinerary forward!

Okay…where were we…

Ah, yessss HERE:

check out all of the birds in the picture

It doesn’t matter how many times you have visited WDW…the 1st time you see her, she melts your heart…

Growing up, I visited her sister too many times to count. But the 1st time I saw HER; I needed to say the usual convert phrase… “WOW, She is soooo BIG & Beautiful!”

To date, I have not seen her sister, since our first encounter. However, I do hope to one-day meet again…real soon.

A glimpse of what the magic means to me

OMG - am I first? Huh...that can't be right...it never happens!

Glad to see that the little man didn't actually hurt his EYE, but his cheek!:rotfl2: Kids are so cute...

And I got a giggle out of standing in the wrong line. Happens to everyone once in a while...:thumbsup2

Doesn't it??:confused3

:wave2:

Sitting here in the midst of an old-fashioned Minnesota blizzard today . . . your pictures of the MK train station and castle were such a welcome sight! :thanks: Wish I was there right now. :beach: You are totally correct - there is something about seeing that castle for the first time again that takes your breath away . . .

I'm loving your report so far! Do you mind telling me when your daughter's birthday is? My DH & I are planning to take our twin DD's this May - they will be 27 months. Your DD sounds like she is enjoying the trip - I'm trying to guage how my girls will handle the trip.

Sorry about your DS's shiner. What a shame that the driver didn't even acknowledge the "incident".:sad2:

Can't wait to hear more about your trip.:)

She was 2 in the fall. I am sure your DD's will LOVE  it! We also brought her, when she was 10M. She enjoyed seeing things, but was a PAIN at TS's! Pain...pain...PAIN!

This time she really loved it! If you keep reading (and I get my butt in gear and finish) I will have many photo's of her MAIN ATTRACTIONS.

ISorry about your DS's shiner. What a shame that the driver didn't even acknowledge the "incident".:sad2:

It was a bummer that the bus driver ignored us. There always are a few bad seeds in a sea of good!

Thanks for reading along. :upsidedow

Ahhh, how I wish I was there, and not here! Now, it's time to get out and plow the foot of snow, before more comes... Why of why does winter come when Spring  is just around the corner? We could've used the dump at Christmas!

A Night at the MK:

In the beginning of a trip I always find myself in a much more speedy pace. I almost feel like I need to rush for the 1st few days. Then calm sets in and I will myself to slow down, take it all in. Until the end draws near and Super Woman takes over, rushing, trying to see everything until next time. Almost as if there will not be a next time.

Like that will ever happen. :rotfl:

Heading down Main Street is so exciting. Your heart starts pumping and a slight panic strikes you. It is like that first step into the candy shop, as a child. A million choices of pure bliss. Where to go? What to experience 1st? By tradition, we always start with the same ride. Always! There is no getting around it.

From the stroller I hear a little voice calling-

“Mom”

I try really hard to ignore it. Maybe if we keep going, the sights will distract them.

“MOM”…I’m talking to you…

Keep pushing dh…

“MOMMA!” “MOM, I am really HUNGRY!”

Hungry? Who has time for hungry…we just got here. Didn’t I feed you on the plane? Oh… I guess it’s been like 7 hours, since your last meal…maybe we should feed you (my bad…I know).

Dh then starts in, “I’m getting hungry too”.

Okay family, we will eat. But lets make it quick, no dilly-dallying. We have a ride to get to!

IMG_0297.jpg

BOGO ALERT:
Off we pulled over for some DAWGS! I haven’t heard great things about this place. Some swear by it, others say leave it. At this point, I really could care less…I just need to throw some food at my family and get this double wide moving! Dh promptly finds the large T.V. playing oldies but goodies and I go and order. I got 1 carton of dawg nuggets, 1 extra jumbo, one size fits XL hot dawg, some fries, a bottle of milk – priced at the ½ gallon rate and an Jumbo Orange Fanta…This momma LOVES Fanta. OT Alert: I like all Fanta’s, but extra specially the European varieties. It appears that the Coca-cola bottling company likes to mix Fanta by the country. The Fanta in most of Europe is a smooth light citrusy flavor…reminds me kinda of Orangina. The Fanta in Sweden is a bit more orange soda-ish, than that of it’s European friends. However the Fanta of North America is much more like your garden-variety orange soda. Just a little bit of useless Fanta info. Take it or leave it.

When I ordered, I noticed the CM writing my order on one of those McD type drink holder cartons. :confused3 I thought to myself that maybe he ran out of paper...should I borrow him some? I never imagined that he would then load up my order on it. Sorry another-OT Alert: This Momma is a recycler…A BIG recycler. I am the lady on the block who has the ¼ filled garb container and the recycling container (that is larger than the garbage container) filled to the brim and over flowing. Let’s just say that it is One of my big OCD to do my part in saving our planet things (amongst many others). This proves to be a sticky point on all of my trips to the world…recycling that is.

I fill my arms to the brims with our food and literally dump it on DH.
Sorry, hun…Luckily, nothing spills too badly. :lmao:

Dh starts the huffing and puffing to cool the nuggets to the point of edibility for the bambinos and I load up the DAWG for him. The fixin’s bar is great. For a DAWG place that is. Unlike other places (to be named later in the trip) they have yummy warm cheese sauce (yummers on the fries!). For your choosing, you can also get pickles, kraut, onions and the usual condiments. The large T.V. is an added bonus. It aids in keeping everyone happy, while you get the goods situated. On especially nice days you can enjoy the outside tables. Sometimes there is even a piano player, keeping the Disney sounds alive.

Today, however my family was lucky to even stop, so we are otta here! Eat while I push everyone…We have a date…We are OFF TO NEVERLAND!

For being after 6, the wait was not too unbearable. 30ish, I think. It is good practice, a warm up of sorts.

Why Peter Pan?

To us, Peter is Disney. You arrive in a place of reality. It is night. The streets are busy. People are coming and going. The children too excited to sleep (no pun intended). Off they escape to play in a world made of dreams. Where little people rule. A bad guy tries to prevail. But stinker pants Tink along with her pal Peetaah (Peter for us American’s) won’t let the day be ruined, before you know it, the dream is over and you are back on land.

Or was it a dream?

As easy as 123, we are inside the gates of Mickey’s Philharmagic.:3dglasses Glasses in hand, I remind Lil’l Diz to HOLD them until we are seated. DH, tried to get us to squeeze close to a door. I encouraged him to hang a bit, lay low. We will be just fine.:hippie:

Ahhaa, the doors open.

The crowd swarms to get in.

We stay our course. Lay low. Take our time following the masses. Until ultimately the inevitable happens.

Yes, I think it happens every time we do this attraction.

“Excuse me” Long pause:rolleyes1

Let’s try this again

“Excuse me!” :rolleyes1

Nope…trying to play the we no speak English card…r ya…

“EXCUSS ME!” Loud enough that the family already seated 2 rows back starts cracking up…

I gave them loud & clear voice, “YOOUU NEED TOO MOOVVV DOWWNN ALLL THE WWAAYY, PLEEESSS.:teacher:

Apparently I caught the attention of the CM, who was trying to run the gig, cause she then joined in on her MIC.

Eventually, fake-non-speaking English, tourists got the point. Along with a few grumbles and huffs, they moved. I strategically placed Lil’l Diz Man between their party and ours. There really would be no need to bump elbows with the row hogs. As usual this show left us feeling happy. We were pleasantly surprised that Tink also enjoyed it… in blur vision that is. Throughout the show DH, tried to put the spectacles on her face. In return she would hit in him in the face and snitch, “NO DADDEEE!” He didn’t give it up until I scolded him…Dads!?!

As we exited I knew we were 2 for 2. I debated with myself if we should we call it a night. But Wishes was calling my name. We had some time to spare, but not enough to stand in any long lines. The only place I could think of to fit our time restraints was It’s a small world. I was pretty sure Tink would enjoy it and Lil’l guy is too young to dis it (again no pun intended). Despite all of the slamming it gets, I truly love it! It, like Peter Pan brings back fond childhood memories of touring DL.

123.jpg

The wait was literally ‘however long it took us to walk the path’. It seems like the ride has lost its glory. Is it the song, that once it hits your brain you can’t loose it? Or is it the little people, who are in such an unimaginable Happy Place?

Back in the day, we would stand 45 minutes to 1 hour easily. Luckily for me, I don’t think I will ever have to do that again.

To my satisfaction Tink LOVED it! I guess she is a girl after her momma’s heart! She bounced and danced, all the while turning her little head back and forth from left to right. She seemed to just not know where to look next. Almost in a state of panic that she may miss something.

When our ride came to a complete stop and we unloaded ourselves. I was treated to another one of Tink’s new games. It is called ‘Run As Fast As You Can and Laugh …laugh… laugh…laugh!’

Fun huh?

Not really!

From here on out, she played her running game, just about anytime she wasn’t restrained by her 5-point stroller harness or held by momma or daddy. Did I tell you about how much fun this was?

We then found ourselves a piece of Disney property to sit on. After a minute I noticed the large group of young people surrounding us all began to stand, so we did as the rest and stood too. I always think it would be so nice to enjoy wishes on my butt. I guess I am alone in this thinking?

I don’t know, just a thought. :confused3

A few thousand people, all trying to see the same thing, all having most likely been on their feet for more hours than they can count.

Just a thought…

Hands down Wishes is my most favorite thing. I love holding my children tightly, singing verbatim in their little ears. Yea, I’m one of those dorks who are always singing. I try to be quite, so I don’t interrupt or RUIN it for you. I do the whisper kind of singing. Maybe, I’m ruining it for my offspring?...but it really is just so magical. I highly recommend all parents try it…MAGIC, PURE MAGIC!

Hold them, snuggled tight, sing Wishes to them as the magic unfolds in front of your eyes. They will grow up before we know it, enjoy then while they are young.

We took our time exiting the park and were pleasantly surprised that the POP line was moving along. Within minutes we were on our way to our home away from home (for 2 nights at least). Dh, doing as DH always does, stood in the back of the bus with our double wide. Lil’l Man sat next to me, while I attempted to hold Tink down. I met another nice mom on the bus, with children of equal age to ours. Her dd sat next to Lil’l Man and chatted it up about the events of the day and he has to show off the CHEEK injury. I got many smirks and giggles as we drove away. Not because I am a really cute momma, but because Tink had made her choice that she would LAY across Lil’l Man, and I, stiff as a board…she laid. Then she decided that the floor would be more comfortable. So down she went, stiff as a board. All the while, dear old me, is trying my darnest to get her back up on my lap.

Funny, I guess…

NOT!:headache:

Once at the POP, I sent DH to the room to get TINk ready for bed and him and ds ready for their swim. I stopped at the POP food court and got myself some grub (Hot Dawgs are not my thing very often…sorry to those who love them).

BOGO ALERT:
As far as food courts go, I give this one a B+.

Good: Clean, Open, good selection of food.

The not so goods: The food court is too close to the gift shop, needs more seating, maybe the gift shop could be seating? Other than that…I really don’t like standing in line to get my food at one area, then needing to go stand in line again somewhere else to get the rest of what a family of 4 would like to eat. By the time you pay, all of the food you picked up first is cold and yuck!

I ordered the Mom’s night out meal. Which is a daily changing spin off of a TV dinner. Tonight’s TV dinner was bbq beef or pork (can’t remember) on a bun (decent), with coleslaw (ok), beans (Blah), corn bread (yummo) and a over soggy chunk of corn (do I need to say it?).

Back to the room, I notice...OUPSie…I forgot to put my lime green, ripped off from HD, paint chips, that I stuck to magnetic tape on the door (what a descriptive sentence…are ya with me?). I threw open the door to quickly get them on. Dh was baffled at what I was in such a hurry about.

What are you doing?

I gotta put something on our door

What is that for?

Says to the world the I am a DIS lovin kinda gal:disrocks:

Ohhhh, Your cute hunny. You have make believe friends on the internet and you all love WDW…ahhhh…

DS- Mom, can I have a Mickey?

NO, NO…don’t even think about touching my MICKEY’s, leave them!

With that, I sent DH and Lil’l Diz to play in the pool, while I put Tink to sleep and sat on the floor in between the two beds and ate my grub, while I caught up on a little Stacy TV.

Up Next: PG 4/POST 54: Yum, Yum & Yummers!

Is that the every half hour Stacy? DS had to watch her EVERY time we came back to our room!! He loved it!!:goofy: She was the first thing on in the morning and the last thing we saw at night!

That would be my lady. It is just something that gets me everytime. I must watch the top 10, top 6 or whatever they are calling it this year.

Also, I find myself listening/watching the "Whats going on Today in WDW channel...over and over. The music , is just so peppy...I know I'm in WDW! :cloud9:

I'm a dork...oh well!

That's okay, I still have a hard time multiple quoting.

That is a great imagination your ds has! Make sure to get that on video. It will be a treasure to have in the future!

I too love this age...
To be honest, I have told myself that I love this age, at every age! I came to the conclussion (after trying to tell myself every year that this age was my favorite) That I just love it all! There really isn't a day that goes by that I don't love most everything about the day with my kids. (although, TInk has given me my fair share of challenges). They just do and say the most amazing things.

Thanks for keeping up. It means a lot that you are reading along!:)

patiently waiting...popcorn:: popcorn:: :rolleyes1

princessjv, wait until Tink is 8 going on 13...:furious: :cutie: :stir: princess: within 5 minutes.... that's when you really appreciate the younger years... sorry...:offtopic:

Yum, Yum & Yummers!

I woke up with an excited feeling. Disney is in the air. Am I really here? Wow, all of that planning, preparing, DIS’ing and I’m here! Deep breath…ahh…I am really here!:cloud9:

We got the family cleaned, ready and out the door in a decent amount of time. Given that we were living out of suitcases until the next day, I must say, we did a good job. We bypassed the POP food court and headed to the dreamy bus stop. Our plan was to take the bus to MK and hop a monorail to the Poly for our 8:20 Kona ADR. The bus did arrive in a timely fashion and we were at MK in no time. It was a bit bizarre walking past the MK entrance and back up the monorail hill, while everyone else seemed to be going the opposite direction. From the double wide I heard:

“Mom”

Ignore:rolleyes1

“Mom”

Ignore:rolleyes1

“MOM, Why is everyone going to Dizney without us?”

“You’re in Disney, honey. No one is going anywhere without you”

“But mom, I wanna go on rides.”

“We are going on a ride…its called ‘The monorail ride’, remember it from last time? Trust me…you like it! ”

The whine starts:
“I wanna ride on the real rides inside Dizney

“Honey, we are going to after we eat some breakfast. Be patient.”

“BUUUTTT MMOOOOMMM, IWANNAGOONTHEREALDIZNEYRIDES!”

Deep Breath
“You are going on a Disney ride. Now - Sit back and relax and enjoy the ride, or your going back to the hotel and back to bed!”:headache:

You would think that in his 5 glorious years of life, he would have learned… Don’t mess with the Momma! Word to the wise for all kids out there… This momma sticks to the plan, doesn’t give in and never budges. Well, almost never.

Ds takes the bait and the rest of the monorail experience is uneventful. We arrived at the POLY at 8:40, for our 8:20 ADR. Oups… The kind CM allowed for our entrance and we were seated immediately.

BOGO ALERT:
For those who have not eaten at the KONA CAFÉ for breakfast, I suggest you make it a priority for your next Trip! Get that…GO THERE! This meal would be OOP, since we are not yet on DDP (that starts tomorrow). We decided we would do the sharing thing, because…well, because we could! We ordered…drum roll please…YES…THE TONGA TOAST and the Pineapple Macadamia Pancakes with a side of eggs for TINK. For bevies my DH ordered the Kona Coffee Press, I ordered the house special blend of Hawaiian juices (forget the name, but had several juices including…but not limited to Guava juice). Lil’l Diz Man got chocolate milk and Tink got the white version. All in all the food was YUMMERS and I mean YUMMERS!

Here is the low down on the grub: (We devoured our food before I could take pic’s…sorry for that.)

Tonga Toast: Thick cut of bread (not sure the kind), cut in the middle and stuffed with sliced bananas, then dipped in some kind of yummo batter, fried and fully coated in cinnamon and sugar. A few calories...not to many though…who’s counting? Mickey?

Our rating = B+
Although yummy, it was very sweet. Sweet like a mini doughnut from the state fair, sweet. So sweet, no syrup needed, sweet. Lil’l Diz Man LOVED IT! So much that, dh and I got 1-2 bites and he finished the rest.

Pineapple Macadamia Pancakes: Rich pancakes with a small amount of crushed macadamia nuts. Served with pineapple butter, which melts all over the pancakes. Or was it opposite- pineapple in the pancakes and nuts in the butter? What ever it was…it was gone fast!

Our Rating = A+
These very rich, yum, yum pancakes were from heaven, literally they melt in your mouth. Dh & I could easily share 1 serving (with giving a bit to the kiddos). MMMMMMmmmmmm.

Kona Pressed Coffee:
Rating = B
It is good. Okay, so people swear by this stuff, I know! Well my dh is a coffee snob. Ya, they gotta have a snob for everything. He would be it, for coffee. Dh uses a coffee press everyday and loves dark roasts. He felt it was good. Just not great. Next to the resort stuff, it was fine…better. Nuff said!

Misc.
I really enjoyed my juice blend and would order it again. The service was great! As you enter the restaurant, they ask you if you have any food allergies. I thought that was thoughtful… Next thing I know, snoopy me watched as the table next to us received a visit from the chef. Seems the momma of the group had food allergies, so the Chef came out to help create a meal that she could eat without issues. That is great service!

We enjoyed the small stroll around the POLY 2nd floor (envious of the people staying there) and tried to remind ourselves that we saved close to $400, by not staying there for our 2 add on nights… I reminded dh, that he chose to save the $. I reminded dh that when he chose to save the $$, I told him that I didn’t want to hear any belly aching about how he wished we were at the POLY. Dh kept his belly aching to himself, but told me he really was bummed and demanded that I do not let him EVER, have me change our reservations again from a monorail Resort.

Ding Ding!

I win!

I get me some monorailing next visit! YAHOOO!

Thanks a lot... I am totally starving now! Seriously though, a Kona Cafe breakfast is on my must do list. Do you think making an ADR is neccessary for a breakfast?

Princess JV -
Came over to check your trippie after you posted on mine - great story! Love the shiner on the "cheek" and I'm sure it had to have been much "prettier" earlier.

I've seen a pic of the tonga toast and was tempted to ask my sis' to go over there for breakfast before we left town...shoulda, coulda, woulda....

Love peter pan - what are the cars made out of?

Ditto on IASW - just didn't have the charm this time :sad2:

and as a coach, I have to ask...are you a "Junior Varsity" princess?

They are ships that sail in the air. Only a Disney!

My dh says I am queen princess, as I am training in my successor(sp?)princess:

Thanks for stopping by!

Do it, add it! Yummo!

I would make an ADR since you are going at busier time. I bet it may be easier to get a night before ADR, than many places though.
