I can't wait to hear all about it and see some pictures!

I'd like to hear about it too!!!

Simba's Mom, Shanghai is my parents' hometown. I got to visit there in Spring 2000 and in Fall 2002. It's a fascinating city!

Wah! Hoh yeh! Ngoh yiu hui Heung Gong! (Ok, my romanization isn't all that great...and I can't put in the tones...but it IS Cantonese!!!!) You are very lucky! I would give anything to go. I love Hong Kong!!!!

I can hardly wait to hear the report. I hope you enjoyed your time there. Maybe you should get a tag about being the first diser to christen Hong Kong Disneyland.

I lived in Macau from age 6 through 13. I could speak it pretty good back then and understand even more but of course, it's been 27 years since I came back to America though!

I have a Chinese BIL and thus my 2 nieces and 1 nephew are half Chinese and they speak both Cantonese and English. They all live in Boston now.

I can say a few common words/sayings like Nay ho ma? Joe Sun! Lay ledo, hoy godo. I'm not good at putting them down in words though so I don't know if you can tell what I'm saying!!

Hi Boboman:

We just got back from a three-day trip to HK Disneyland. We spent four nights at the Hollywood Hotel. We are Disney veterans, recovering commandos and have a 7-yr old daughter. I am glad we scheduled three full days for the park.

We like to relax, take our time and enjoy the theming. We visited nine of the 11 giftshops, had a silhouette cut, ate in five of the nine restaurants, rode rides more than once, took advantage of Fastpass, saw the parade once and saw the fireworks twice. That said I think you could do it in two.

I know some people do HK Disneyland in one day, but honestly I don't know how they would do this unless they were die-hard commandos with an impecable plan.....and no dining, no shopping, no character greeting and no kids in the group. Maybe December is a little busier than other times—there were definately lines and significant stand-by times in the afternoons. But the weather was great! Low 60's during the day and overcast. Nights and wind chill brought the temp closer to low 50's, so take some warm woolies! The day we left the sky was cloudless and bright blue, with temp in the high 70's—perfect for an afternoon on the water slide at the Hollywood Hotel!

The challenge is that the park got pretty crowded in the afternoon. By 11 a.m. Fantasyland was very crowded and standby for Pooh was regularly 100+ minutes with all Fastpasses distributed by 1-2 pm (on Monday and Tuesday). You MUST be at Festival of the Lion King and The Golden Mickeys 45-60 min before the show to get in. They fill up very quickly. Try to go to the first shows of the day. We were there on Mon, Tue & Wed. In the morning, we were able to do 5 attractions in 2 hours. In the afternoon, we averaged 45 min per activity. Do lunch before noon and try to avoid Tahitian Terrace when Festival of the Lion King lets out at the lunchtime.

For the most part the crowd was on good behavior. I know Chinese don't share Westerner's same sense of personal space and we expected some of the behavior we witnessed (queue cutting, a bit of pushing and shoving and running). CM addressed guests smoking in a non-smoking areas and we never saw any public urinating. But they absolutely would NOT move to the end of the row for Philharmagic! C'est la vie!

I am working on a full trip report, with pictures, which I will post on the Trip Report forum in a couple of days. In the meantime, feel free to ask me anything else you might want to know! Enjoy your Christmas trip to HK Disneyland! We sure did!
