hi!

I'm looking for a hotel that is near Universal Studios- near as in within 2 miles. There is no way I can afford to stay on-site. I'm the sort of person that goes to Disney and stays at a down&dirty, supercheap hotel and rents a car. This will be my first time going to Universal and I'd like to avoid renting a car. Am I crazy? Maybe (it wouldn't surprise me), but I"m also on a really tight budget.

I just need a place to sleep! I don't care about anything else- not even a pool! Shocking! If you know what's close or have a suggestion, I'd love to hear it. Rest assured my standards are not high (at all!)

thanks!

My son and I will go to Universal for 2 nights in March, and I just reserved the Sheraton Studio City yesterday: http://www.starwoodhotels.com/prefe...page&page=&ratePlanName=&roomOccupancyTotal=1

The AAA rate for late March (weeknights) was $105. If I were on a super budget, I would get a hotel room from Hotwire or Priceline. but I would read the Hotel FAQ at www.biddingfortravel.com first. Hotels booked through Priceline and Hotwire are charged to your credit card immediately and are non-refundable and non-changeable.

My page here will help.

If you want a complete dive, that would probably be the Days Inn. If you want to pay a little bit more, the Best Western is great and has free breakfast. Both of these are across from the parking garage and within walking distance.

It's still a good idea to rent the car so you can visit grocery stores and restaurants. If you rent the car, there's a Motel 6 just south of the park on American Way.
