Off Site Hotel near Universal

Looking for a decent off site hotel near Universal - it's going to be a budget holiday this time. Seen a couple of good deals with a UK operator for Clarion Universal and Radisson Universal - has anyone stayed at these hotels?

Ideally we would like hotels with courtesy buses to get to other places ie WDW/Seaworld, as we are not keen on driving in the US.

There was just a post in the past day or two asking about the Radisson Universal. I recall that it got a very good review. Try searching down the board a little more.

We stayed at the Clarion Universal in 1999....it was very nice and we got a great deal through the DIS (it was $40 a night at the time....now I think its available for $59 through Dreams). The rooms were nice and large, the hotel is well taken care of, and the location was very good...we had a nice view of Wet and Wild and Universal in the distance. I'd stay there again if we ever needed a room in that area.

I don't know if there are shuttles to the attractions here though....we drive to FL so we always have our car available. If I recall correctly you can get transportation but its not included in the cost of the room...you have to pay. A taxi is always an option, as well.

There is a thread on the Universal/Sea World part of this board that has a few great reviews of the Radisson. I would recommend the Radisson over the Clarion because it is MUCH closer. Radisson is just across from Universal's parking garage. I'm not sure if they have a shuttle, but it's about a 15 minute walk which certainly is doable. Good luck!
