Hi everyone!
We are traveling down to WDW in late December. We are looking for a nice but inexpensive hotel room to spend two night before we get into our OKW room. We get in late the first night and want to spend the next day at Animal Kingdom. We also haven't decided to rent a car or use public transportation. A free hotel shuttle from the airport and to AK would be nice. Am I asking to much? Please all you wise people give your advice.

many times to DL first time to WDW.

I stayed at what is now known as the Renaisance(s) World Gate hotel. It was a Doubletree when I stayed there. It is a nice seven story hotel. It is off of 192 west of the Disney "maingate" and also next to a back road that comes out right near the Animal Kingdom.
I got the hotel via Priceline for $45 and have seen advertised prices as low as $79. Inexpensive is a relative term and I don't know whether you would consider $79 inexpensive. Check Expedia, Orbitz, Travelocity, Travelweb and Travelhero for their posted prices and also try calling the hotel too.

The Renaissance Worldgate is an ideal choice hereabouts, as is the Sheraton Four Points Lakeside. Both offer quite a bit for your money and free transport to AK.

I'm not sure but I think I've read that the new Country Inn & Suites resort at Calypso Cay is near Animal Kingdom. They offer complementary shuttle to Disney and Universal. There is another hotel in that resort complex and a condo/apartment section called Runaway Bay.

There's a Super 8 on Serebeth Rd., which leads directly to AK. It used to be a Best Inn, which didn't get good words on this board.

If you do stay at the Renaissance get the directions for the back way to AKL from the front desk personnel. Its quick, direct & when we were there no traffic. We were fortunate enough to PL it last year for a two night stay.

We just got back from vacation and stayed 1 night at the Renaissance. we payed 45 on Priceline for it and it was awful! The room was so dirty, butt ugly and it smelled!!. There was mold in the bathroom and bugs, I didn't even let the kids to bathe there because it was just plain dirty. We would never, ever go back again. They promised Bath and Body works products- nope none there we had to ask the maid for them. It's just not that well kept, as you drive up the revolving doors are all dirty, the pool was dirty and the main pool was closed due to a group renting it out while we were there. I know we only paid 45 but from the way they decribed themselves, on the web site and rating of 3 stars at pricleine we were VERY disappointed. I can't even imagine having paid rack rate of (139.00) you can get the Disney's All-Stars cheaper then that and they are REALLY nice!!! When we checked in at 10:30 am we requested a crib for our 1 year old, they said *no Problem we'll send one up* Well we got back later that night and no crib. We called down and they said *we'll check on it right away* Well 20 minutes later- nothing. My husband went down to the front desk and asked about it, they said *Oh sorry were out and we told you it was based upon availibility* this was said very snotty. My husband said calmly that we weren't told that and my son had no where to sleep, they couldn't care less. He ended up sleeping with my husband while he 1/2 slept because he kept watching that my son didn't roll off, climb down ect.

Our stay there was terrible and wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. I'm just thankful that we only spent 1 night there, I have written a complaint to priceline as well because this hotel is marketing itself as something it is not.

Like I said I'm not one to complain and I just wanted a clean hotel. We aren't snobs, we LOVE the All-Stars at Disney etc.. Before we stayed at the RWG we stayed at the Doubletree castle on International Drive(we decided to drive down a few days early), it was VERY nice!!! Clean, very helpful friendly staff etc.. It wasn't anything fancy but we really enjoyed our stay there it was very nice.

If you want to go near Animal Kingdom maybe go to the All-Stars if you can swing it. Check and call for discount rates. try mousesavers.com

You just can't beat the Disney quality and service. if you can't go there just try to research well and I wouldn't do priceline, I just don't trust them anymore.

Good luck!!!
