Just wondering what places people enjoy off site... we will have a car and I am somewhat familar with the area, so traveling offsite to dine is not an issue for us.

Soooooooo what's your favorite off site eating establishment??

there's a good resturant called Claimjumpers in the area...I've only been to that location once, so not sure how to get there...they have good food, and I always go to the one in san diego when I visit friends...:goodvibes

In-N-Out Burger is pretty popular for people who live outside CA.

In n out! How could I forget! I also like Carl's Jr and Jack n the Box lol

In fact our first stop after we get the car will be a Jack n the Box! Got to love those deep fried tacos with the little pocket of grease! :thumbsup2

I liked my meal at Coco's (veggie burger), and Mimi's was pretty good.

I hear there's a Buca di Beppo somewhere around, and that's a popular place.

And there's a new Cheesecake Factory that has opened, and something called Bubba Gump's?

Wow I did a triple header up there!! Sorry about that...

How about local places... non chain places... We are willing to drive a bit for a good dinner :-)

I am familar with the surrounding citys like Fullerton, Westminster, Garden Grove and such, so it can be a 20 minute cruise down Ball Road :-)

???THEY HAVE A BUBBA GUMPS NOW???

There is one on Maui...we LOVE to go there when we are in Hawaii!!! YAY! now we can go when we go to Disneyland too! my kids will be SOOO excited! .....RUN FORREST RUN!.........:rotfl:

I'm forgetting the name of it, but what about that place that has actors riding horses and stuff? know what I am talking about? I've never been, but am thinking it would be a fun family dinner this trip. Camelot something? no, I cant remember........

There is Medieval Times http://www.medievaltimes.com/ and a Pirate dinner
http://www.piratesdinneradventure.com/ . But as far as I know, those are chains as well.

The Bubba Gumps is at the new Garden Walk center on Katella.

OP, looks like you want the locals to chime in on this!!!!

- Mimi's Cafe right across Harbor Blvd from DL. Mimi's is a chain now, but the original restaurant is in Anaheim on Euclid, dating back to 1980 or so.

- Cheesecake Factory just opened up on Katella a block east of Harbor Blvd

- Chili Pepper in Orange on Main Street just south of Chapman Ave. Great Mexican food, super fast service for a sit-down restaurant, lots of atmosphere.

- Hof's Hut in Garden Grove on Chapman Ave adjacent to the Crystal Cathedral. Nice coffee shop.

- Several places in central Orange around "The Plaza" - the junction of Chapman and Glassell. Watson's Drug Store has a coffee shop that was used in the Tom Hank's movie "That Thing You Do". A recent favorite of ours is the Blue Frog Bakery, a bakery/dessert kind of place - best almond bear claws we've had, but everything they have there looks first rate.

- Ruby's Diner in Fullerton at Orangethorpe and Harbor Blvd. 50's atmosphere done right. There are also Ruby's locations at the end of the Balboa, Huntington Beach, and Seal Beach piers.

Mimi's
Joe's Crab Shack- head down Harbor away from DL on the right side. Try the Bar-b-Que Crab legs. flippin' awesome! My mouth is watering... gotta go!

Joe's Crabshack gets our vote.

However, we are also huge Bubba Gump fans.

We also like the Cheesecake Factory here locally, so I imagine we'll add this to our list too.
