Off-property fun, family-friendly restaurants

Thanks for the suggestions, everybody. We are staying in a house in Rolling Hills Estates. Does that make a difference on any of the suggestions? I looked at the website for Miller's Ale House, and it looked good. Which location would be closest for us?

There is a new one on 192 west also known as the irlo bronson mem. hgwy.
Very close by.

Great thread. Will be staying 8 days at March Break at BWV and decided for first time not to do DDP . DH won't be able to join us 'till day 3 and with full kitchen DDP just doesn't make sense. Will do a few special meals on site(Cali. Grill etc) but some great suggestions for other times--keep 'em coming.

Bahama Breeze.... :woohoo:

Flippers..... :woohoo:

Miller's Ale House.... :woohoo:

Fuddruckers...... :woohoo:

The first three I agree with. But Fuddruckers was a BIG disappointment to us. We are used to a gourmet burger being something like Red Robin's. We paid RR price at Fuddruckers but got a burger closer to Burger King than Red Robins. I would not go there again. Far better burgers at Applebees, TGIF, Chili's or many others - all of which are in the same basic area around DTD. I'd even take Five Guys - a much less costly burger - over Fuddruckers by a mile. The closest Five Guys is quite a drive however.

We ended up trying Black Angus, Colorado House of Beef and Miller's Ale House.

Black Angus was the biggest disappointment. We had a waitress that seemed irritated to have to wait on us, and the steaks were just okay. We tried the Colorado House of Beef because of their Mexican buffet, and it was very good.

We really liked Miller's but we got frustrated at trying to get in there a couple of times. After hitting the parks last Sunday we were going to go there for dinner. I forgot that you guys told me there was a new one on 192, so we just headed to the one the GPS told us to go to on John Young Parkway, I think. After paying several tolls, we got there and it was closed for a private Super Bowl party. We ended up eating Wendy's that night.

The night we were in Downtown Disney, we saw there was one near there and tried it. It was my husband, two sons and my husband's nephew who is a very, very picky eater. Everybody loved their food, even picky nephew. My husband had the chicken nachos, which were HUGE. I had the crab mozzarella and French onion soup. Both were very good.

Since we liked it so much, we suggested the whole family go there on Thursday night. We went to the one on 192, and it had an hour wait. Since there were 10 of us, we decided not to wait, so we ended up at the Colorado House of Beef that night.

On the way home yesterday, though, we stopped at the one in Gainesville for lunch, and it was great.
