Wasn't going to go back to the lake this weekend because they were calling for rain, but now that has all changed so I'll be heading up there tomorrow afternoon..

My son-in-law, DD & granddaughter will be coming tomorrow night and after the little one is in bed we'll have a campfire and wait to see what happens..

I'm a lot braver when I'm not alone!!! LOL

Oh......Teddy Bears Picnic;)

If you go down to the woods today, you better not go alone:) :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Shucks! Fresh of Sara Lee.. :( How about Little Debbie - or would that be an insult to the bear?????

My DD's father-in-law (long-time hunter) said if I cooked up some bacon a bear could smell it from miles and miles away...

Nooooooooooooooo..

Looks like another weekend of cereal - three times a day! LOL

C.Ann, I have a place in Campton, NH. Are you near there? Our bear was around for the past 2 weeks and I have yet to see him.

No - we're up in the Adirondack Mountains.. We rarely ever hear about bears coming into the tiny spec of summer population where our place is and even if one does happen to come around it's usually early spring..

In this case the town officials started mentioning "a" bear in mid-August and by Labor Day weekend (or a few days before) they had confirmed that there were 5 bears roaming around..

What really scares me (with all the kidding aside) is that these bears have been coming out in the broad daylight - both in the morning AND the afternoon (as well as a night) - so now my granddaughter is no longer allowed to be outside alone - even if she's right smack in front of the door... A few years back - down in the Catskill Mts. I think it was - a black bear came up on a porch and grabbed a baby right out of a baby carriage.. The Dad took off chasing the bear with some neighbors but the story had a very tragic ending (I'll spare you the gory details).. While it's not "common" for black bears to attack humans, they WILL if they're hungry enough..:(

Pam, LOL at Davy Crockett....the theme song came into my head as I read the thread!!!!!!
C. Ann...maybe you can have a Country Bear Jamboree up at the lake:D

Be sure and take photos. I'd love to see one of your bears :)

Oh boy...I'd better go put a pair of "Depends" on if this thread is going to turn into the one like last weekend about the Bear! Especially since *********** is posting on this thread too!

All I can picture is a bear sliding on "doo doo"! OMG! I'd best go grab those Depends NOW! :teeth:

Hey, it's just about prime time for Gentle Ben to be playing in the trash. C. Ann, any bear sightings?

Do I smell Stawberry Cupcakes? (sniff, sniff).....

Do I hear banging of garbage cans? OMG!! I think I hear some really loud SNORTING too!!!

(Wearing my Depends now... :teeth: )

Have you seen the bear yet?
I'd love to see photos to.:D

No bear sightings last night - didn't even HEAR him - but there was an EXTREMELY loud party going on about a 1/4 mile up the road until the wee hours and I think that may have kept him away..

However, there was a sighting of the mamma bear and her two cubs the day before yesterday on the SCHOOL PLAYGROUND in BROAD DAYLIGHT !!!!! They hung out there ALL day and it created a very tense situation because as you all know, a mamma bear is VERY protective of her cubs.. Encon was called in and they surrounded the area with officers with tranquilizing guns.. Children were kept inside and all after-school activities were canceled.. The bears never became aggressive though so Encon chose not to tranquilize them and instead waited for them to go on their merry way.. Officials up here are becoming quite busy trying to keep track of 5 different bears but as long as they don't become aggressive they won't do anything to harm them or relocate them.. After all, these are the mountains so relocation is rather redundant..

We'll see what happens tonight.. If it's quieter we may see something.. Cameras are loaded and ready.. We'll be keeping watch throughout the day as well now that they seem to be coming out in broad daylight with no qualms of humans being around..

Stay tuned! I'll check back in later on...;)

I had to jump back about 4 pages to find this post again! C. Ann ~ how did it go? Did you get to see any bears? I bet your SIL doesn't even believe you about what you went through last weekend!

Hopefully you made it back safe & sound! We're anxiously awaiting a report! :D
