There are what like 25,000 or so hotel rooms at DW. With all this PIN talk I was wondering what do suppose the ratio is of guests paying rack rate vs paying with a PIN or public discout???

Does 60%rack-40%discount sound about right or do you think thats out of whack??

I doubt that many people are paying rack rate. It seems like an awfully high ratio given all the different promotions and discounts offered.

I would agree that less are paying rack rate, but I wouldn't say 40% are staying on a PIN. GP discount, sure, but not PIN.

GP = general public

Probably quite a few pay rack rate, when you consider those who book free dine are paying rack rate.
And then consider those who travel or stay during discount blocked out dates.

OP said 40% discount, not specifically a PIN.

Free Dining rooms don't technically count as rack rate because they are still booked under a promotion receiving some type of discount.

If I had to guess I would say that more guests might be paying the rack rate at the Value Resorts and maybe the Moderate Resorts, since their prices are reasonable. However looking at the rates for the Deluxe Resorts I would be surprised if the number of guests paying rack rate at them was high, because they are much better with a room only discount.

I don't think the number is that high, but it could be during the slower times of the year - you know, those couple of weeks in January ;) I think our perception is skewed by our presence here on the Dis. Most people who ask me about Disney have no idea about discounts or how to get them, only the recent ads that have run on TV.

My guess is about 25 or 30 percent are staying on a discount.
