The Players:
Goose - Dearest Fiancee of Jezzieduck and 30 y/o System Engineer (read: professional geek). Last visit to WDW: age 12 or thereabouts for the opening of EPCOT. Has special childhood affection for Pooh and is ready to let his inner 10 year old play.
Jezzieduck- Official 'Julie-the-Cruise-Director' for this and all future WDW visits. 31 y/o actress looking for a day job. Loves all things of the pin-tailed donkey. Fully in contact with inner 10 year old since she never really grew up in the first place.
The Settings:
Somewhere in Metro Atlanta
Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge
Any shaded smoking area
The Motivation:
An actor must have his or her motivation, darlings. This short trip, August 17 - 20, was a spontaneous result of Goose and Jezzieduck having too much time one rainy Saturday afternoon. We played on the internet and ended up at the WDW website instead of cleaning house, unpacking boxes, washing Cocker Spaniels, re-reading "Henry V"' and other noble industrious or high minded persuits. The internet package was just too 'shweet', as Goose would say, to pass up. We just recently became engaged and discovered this was a perfect justification to book the package. This line of thought would also help us justify spending countless hours pouring over our "Passporter Guide to WDW", the DIS boards, and the lenghty trip reports of our new heroes in WDW adventure, Nate and Spencer of "The Nastee".

Pre-Trip Tech and Cast Notes:
On Thursday while Goose kept his servers happily humming at work, I attended to the last minute details at home.
One (1) Co cker Spaniel delivered to Dog Spa for weekend: check.
Commence ensemble selection and prepare for packing: check.
Feed Goose and pick up last minute items for trip: Check.
Don jammies and hit bed by 8pm....revise and complete task and 9pm: check
9.15 pm....Goose rolls over and utters the inevitable words all Disney bound travelers hold dear:
"Im too excited to sleep!" Eventually we do and goodness knows we should. Tomorrow will start waaaaaaay too early and last until after 1am on Saturday.
Day 1, 3.30am: The players are jolted from their sleep by a droning wail that can only be the call of Goose's super-deluxe-just-shy-of-dropping-an-anvil-on-your-head alarm clock.
Yes, that was 3.30 am....our wake up call. Since our flight left at 6.20 am we would need those precious 2 hours and every one of the 50 minutes to make ourselves look like something skin to semi-alert and well dressed adults. One of the nice things about Goose's work in a travel related industry is that we fly very inexpensively. The downside of that is we must be in business attire at an hour when we would rather be in jammies. We shower and dress ourselves without speaking to each other. It's better this way...wars have started in less tense circumstances.
Bodily harm and wicked words narrowly avoided, we head to the Atlanta airport right on schedule at 4.45. The flight itself is mostly uneventful, and mostly a vague memory since it was so early, and we arrive in Orlando at 7.45 am. Darcy from Tiffany TownCar greets us at baggage claim and we are off to the Animal Kingdom Lodge dispite Darcy's records that show us with 2 children and staying at the All-Star Movies. Hey! We just got engaged - give us a chance - sheesh!
We arrive at AKL around 9am and, after making arrangements with Darcy for our late pick-up Monday, enter the hotel. We are both just awe-struck at the lobby. Sure, the exterior produces the "Oh cool!" sort of comment but kudos to the architect who decided to bring in guests through a low non-descript vestibule and then let the vast space of the front lobby just open up as the second set of doors swish open. Wow. Just....wow!
We step right up to check-in and are greeted by Jonathan. Could we love Jonathan more? I don't think so. After reading and worrying so much about grouchy CMs, Jonathan showed us what Disney guest service is all about. We recieve an unexpected complimentary upgrade to a Savannah room on the Kudu Trail! Jonathan and I admire my engagement ring and Goose blushes a little. Jonathan arranges E-night tickets and the Fantasmic dining package while refering to me as 'The Future Mrs. Goose'. Did I mention Jonathan rocks? We sing his praises all the way to our room and once again when Goose opens the curtains and we step out on our balcony. There before us, not 20 feet away, a young giraffe (or Grrr-uff as we call it) munches languidly on his morning breakfast. Goose beams happily, I dab at misty eyes. We hug and sigh contentedly in a cheesy embrace that looks like something from a Disney brochure. Suddenly the phone rings. It's Jonathan and he asks for 'The Future Mrs. Goose'. He wants to make sure the room is ok. OK? Fabulous...it's fabulolus and I told him just that. Such a little thing but so nice...so just the extra little magical touch. Jonathan rocks!
Coming soon: Goose encounters Roller Coaster Jezzieduck
