I think I have gotten too used to WDW...where you lie when you make your reservations if there will be more than 2 adults in a room, as they will charge you for additional adult guests!! I booked a room at the HRH for late August (my hubby and I are planning to crash with my sister and her boyfriend), but I only specified 2 guests. It suddenly occurs to me that all 4 of us will need room keys to get FOTL privileges (which is the whole reason we're staying overnight at a Universal resort). Can you have 4 adults in a room at no additional charge? Seems as if the rates are per room, not per room containing only 2 adults. We have booked under the Ent rate - $125/night (and FYI - I just bought the 2002 Ent book specifically for this purpose - it cost us $10 since it's only good for a few more months).

Thanks!

I think if you have more than 2 adults in the room, they charge an extra fee. 2 additional kids don't incur extra charges. Also, you can have up to 5 people in a standard room, but you will probably have to get a rollaway for $25.

I was afraid of that. The 4 of us should be OK in 1 room for 1 night, as none of us have kids. Can we say we have 2 kids with us to get 2 extra room keys, do you think?

I feel very petty and cheap for even asking this question, but we will be in the room for maybe 7-8 hours MAX!! Plus, I am a poor graduate student...

I am a grad student that misspelled "cheapskate" due to poor typing skills. I need a vacation badly.

2vets, while I certainly don't want to be implicated as an accessory to sneaking in a 3rd and 4th adult as free children -- wink, wink -- I just wanted to chime in that all you need is one room key for the four of you to have FOTL access.

You should take both keys in case the group wants to split up at any given time, but Universal will let four folks on with just one key.

Thanks, Rick!! Come on, I'm not THAT bad!!! We all spend lots of cash on passes, food, and beverages...that extra $$ will buy us lots of froufrou drinks at the pool bar at HRH!

Hate to give you bad news but they are now scanning the room keys. The last of July on alot of the rides they made everyone in our group show their room key to scan it. The girl at Dr. Doom said they just got the scanners the day before. Sorry to give you the bad news.

We were the July 26-30. The started using them on the 29th. We were scanned on the Hulk, Dr. Doom and Spiderman at IOA. I don't think US was scanning room keys any of the days that we were there. I do know that there was a family in line with us that had to go back to their room to get their keys because one of the kids left theirs there. Again the ladies at Dr. Doom said they had just got them the day before.

Thanks for the info...I would rather know about it now than get a nasty shock after we've entered the park!! Even if we wind up paying the extra fee (research has revealed that it is an extra $25 each for the 3rd and 4th adults in the room), it is still a heck of a lot cheaper than paying for another room!! For that matter, since we got such a great rate, it will bring us just about up to the rate being charged on hotelkingdom.com and other consolidator sites for the same room. Oh, well.
