calling for a hair appointment and finding out your stylist has left shouldn't be one of them. But why do I find myself, literally balling? I loved the way my stylist cut my hair and the color she did. I found out she hadn't even written down the color formulas from the last several times I was there. :sad2:

I guess they didn't tell you where she went. I'm surprised she didn't contact you to let you know she was going to a different salon unless she's no longer doing hair.

And I don't blame you for being upset. Finding the right stylist can be so hard.

My stylist is currently attending nursing schools so I know eventually I will need to find a new one and I'm upset about that.

No, they just said she left with no contacts. I know she was young, but mature. Single mom with a little boy, I know stylists can be very transient, I know I was even pushing my luck with how long I had with her. I wish her the best of everything, just really sad that I have to start over!

That stinks. I can't imagine what I will do when my stylist retires. She has been the only person to touch my hair. She gave me my first haircut and then I just went yesterday for my haircut and I am almost 30.

Maybe she'll call you? My sister keeps a pretty extensive list of her customers and any time she moved shops she contacted them. The shop of course is not going to tell you where she went and that she won't be in touch. They don't want to lose any sales to her! Do you know her last name? Maybe you could look her up. If she was particularly close to any of the other girls maybe you can discreetly ask one of them.

I'm fortunate that my sister is my hairdresser but panic at the thought of her moving out of town. Who would do my hair? In the same situation I would cry too.

Look at your local penny-saver type publications. She is likely in the area at a salon that is paying her more. As far as your formula goes she likely took it with her. They all do. You'll probably get a call from her if she hasn't moved out of the area. You could visit the salon and talk to a shampoo girl she'll know where she went. Good luck, hope you find her!

As someone who used to drive 11 hours to get her haircut, I can empathize.

I hope you get it worked out soon.

I have followed my stylist to about 5 different shops in the past 10 years. She told me last time I was in there she was getting married this fall and moving to Atlanta. :scared1::eek::sad: I have no clue what I am going to do. :sad2:

Move to Atlanta!

Looking for ads is a good idea and about the only thing you can do. When I find someone who does a good job with my hair, I write down my name and telephone number and give it to her and ask her to call me if she ever changes salons. Some places don't announce when they hire new people and I would have never found one of the stylists I used to go to if I hadn't done that.

I can sympathize with you too Minniebeth.

I know once you find someone you love that does everything right with your hair you worry what the next person is going to do wrong.

My last stylist I followed from another shop. Then she decided to be a stay at home mom and now I have her friend. I definetely made sure I saw her last name on her license. They have to hang it up in their stations around here. My dh also goes to the salon (he and my other 2 ds hate barbers). Their stylist has our e mail address,

As Jessica said look in the local paper. They do that around here by us. They say introducing..(Susie) who has joined our shop etc.

And yes I admit (and the tag fairy better not be reading this) that I actually flew from Dallas to NJ and then drove to NY to get a haircut. My dh said we would go since we had to check on our house that we were renting out anyway. Thats the furthest I have gone for a haircut!!:rotfl2:

Hope you find a great stylist if you cant find your fav girl.

Check facebook too. You can probably find her there.

I was going to suggest that!

My cousin is one of the top stylists in Atlanta. She jumps around like CRAZY. Her one consistent is Facebook and clients can reach her anytime there.

I would be devastated!!! I have lost a few good hairdressers who managed to get my curly locks straightened just the way I like, because I don't go in the summer. When I go back in the fall, they have left. I was smart enough this time to tell my new hairdresser (who is AWESOME) that I usually take a summer "break" so if she leaves to please let me know.

FWIW, the guy who used to style my hair GREAT pretty much fell of the face of the Earth. I was so upset.

Then I found the woman who cuts my hair now.

She knows exactly what to do with my hair, and is WONDERFUL!

I look back now, and that guy didn't have a CLUE what he was doing. :rotfl:

Hopefully now, you can find YOUR miracle worker.

My stylist moved to Florida. Her parents still live in the area so every 8 weeks or so she flies in for 2-3 days. She rents space in a salon and still makes enough money to make flying worth it.

A couple of things I've learned: :teacher:
*I am not the only one who loves the way her stylist does her hair and gets upset over stylist situations changing

*SC Minnie is moving to Atlanta when her stylist gets married and moves there

*luvmarypoppins has travelled the absolute FURTHEST out of anyone I know to get her hair done by her stylist! *Can't* keep that one quiet! Where is the tag fairy, anyway??:)(I actually know someone who used to drive from Louisana to Michigan for dentist appointments!:scared1:)

So GUESS WHAT????!!!! Thanks to all y'all's suggestions, I FOUND MY STYLIST!!!:yay::banana::dance3::yay:
I hunted her down today on the internet and found she left for a type of salon where the stylists rent their own space, so they basically work for themselves and must pay some type of rent. I made an appointment and now I'm so happy!:cloud9:
Thanks everyone for the tips and letting me be upset!

Yay I'm glad you found her! My hairstylist left the salon she was working at a couple years ago and moved to another salon just a few minutes away. The prices were higher but I didn't care, I had to follow my hairstylist wherever she went!
