Odds On Waitlist for HH in July?

We were wanting to finish our trip in July with a night in HH before heading home. We need a studio(only enough points left for that). All they had was a one bedroom when I called, but I got on the waitlist for two different nights hoping at least one would open up. Anybody had experience with the waitlist there in July? What are my odds at getting it?

Jennifer, I can't help with July, but this year our post Easter Monday through Friday wait list did not come through. Last year our last week of August wait list did not come through either. I hope you have better luck.

We've been waitlisted for a while for a 2 bedroom in July. Currently we have a 1 bedroom booked but wanted to spread out a bit more. No luck for us.....yet.

Uh oh. That doesn't sound so good! I even asked about cash reservations and they didn't have those available either. Oh well, we'll see I guess!

I have been waitlisted for a 1BR, any time in July or August,Thurs-Wed, since March and have not had any luck. This is our home resort and I am very disappointed. I purchased on February and was told that there "shouldn't be any problem" but obviously that was not the case. Oh well....

I bought some HH points because my guide told me that between HH and VB, HH has a much shorter season, pretty much the summer time. Also, it is a relatively small resort. I think the best way to secure a summer reservation is to exchange points with someone else who has HH points.

I swapped points last year with another member for her to get a studio for the July 4th week. You can always post your interest on the Rent/trade board to see if someone else can work out some terms that you both would agree.

I think you have two things working against you on your reservation request:

*there are relatively few 1BRs at Hilton Head. If you were willing to go with a 2BR, you might have a better chance

*that you want to go Thursday - Wednesday; this would mean that someone would have to check out on Thursday, and I don't think that happens too often in the summer. If you were willing to start on Friday you might have a better chance, since many people check out on Friday morning because of the high weekend points during the summer.

Are you willing to take less than the full week? That might also increase your chances of getting something .

Good luck -- since you bought HH points, I'm sure you'll be calling right at the 11-month window for next summer!
