Odds of having room

I have, what I see, as a problem - but probably no one else will -

I want to stay at the Beach Club next May but I need a decent discount - I have an AP which would be good until next May so I can book under an AP discount IF available -

Or should I book a short cheap trip in November since I have an AP and book a bounceback for next May.

I believe with a bounceback I would be able to get the Beach Club like I want and not worry if a decent discount is available when the 2015 AP rates come out for May.

Has anyone had experience in getting a Beach Club room with the AP discount in May and not have to book CL or lagoon view rooms? I just want a Garden view.

I don't know what your food and transportation costs would be, but even with a short, cheap trip, I would think by the time you pay for everything in November, you could just put that money towards what you really want for your trip in May. Taking a trip just to book a bounce back makes you just as dependent on your desired dates and room categories as waiting for an AP rate, but requires you to put out money you can't get back if you're unhappy with the BB offerings. And if something happens between now and the next 11 months where you can't take that May trip, you'll have spent money on a trip you took with the purpose of "saving money." I can't see you saving more money on that than even a low-yield savings account.

If you want to get more use out of your AP and have the time/funds to go in November, I'd book a trip, but I wouldn't go in November for the sole purpose of booking a BB. There's no guarantee a BB will be offered and/or that it will be something that appeals to you or fits your dates for next May. Disney releases discounts to fill rooms so while I have seen the BC offered for most discounts, there's no guarantee the resort and/or the room type you want will be included should a BB be offered (especially since GV is one of the first room types to get booked since it's the cheapest after standard).
