Odds and ends to pack?

One week from today we check in for our first stay at the Poly ! I have started packing and am looking for suggestions of odds and ends to pack to make the trip go a little more smoothly. I am traveling with DH and our three girls, ages 8, 6, and almost 3. Thanks for your suggestions!

Pack your carry-on bag(s). Travel size toiletries, shavers. Any medicines you need, or even might need, like Advil. Bandaids. Q-Tips. For each person, I'd pack: a change of underwear, a big shirt that can double as a sleep shirt, and a bathing suit. Toothbrushes. Hair brushes and accessories.

I like to take a couple of collapsable fabric boxes for table tops so I can throw everything in there and know where to find it (keys, magic bands, wallets, etc). Keeps the table tidier, too. I usually also bring an extension cord or power strip, although there may be more than enough charging outlets at the Poly, I don't know. I also pack a soap rest- one of those nubbly things that goes under the soap, to keep it from getting all gooky when it sits in the soap dish. I hate gooky soap! GLOW STICKS for the kids but have enough so you can put one in the bathroom for a nightlight (or pack a nightlight). Also bathroom spray (or solid deodorizer)... all that food, new restaurants, new experiences... just sayin'!

I love to hit up the Dollar Tree before our trips. I usually will buy a pop-up hamper, a night light (they have Disney ones!) and extra bulbs. My kids would rather use pump soap vs bar soap for hand washing, so I bring a small bottle of that. Dollar Tree also has cute Disney themed washcloths that I bring as an extra treat for the kids. You can also get glow sticks/wands/necklaces/bracelets there as well. I like the have them for late night because I feel like the parks aren't lit especially well and I don't want to lose my family!! I even put them on the stroller. We usually bring snacks/lunch into the parks, so I make sure to bring small ziploc bags (again, they have Disney themed ones!). We also pick up the hand sanitizing wipes. I use them on the surfaces that we eat on as well as our hands, that's why I like the wipes vs bottle. Extra batteries for anything you may need. Not sure if you're driving/flying, but I love to pick up coloring books/crayons (don't get the dollar store crayons, I don't find them good) and stickers. Great for keeping them occupied, even in the room!

We always take a power strip and extension cord for all the electronic charging, a couple of hanging closet organizers, different size ziploc bags, little bottles of hand sanitizers that we take to the parks and a collapsible hamper.

I use ebags to make packing and unpacking very easy. I pack everyone's clothes in their own individual ebags and when we get to the resort, I simply put the ebags in the drawers, unzip them and I'm unpacked. Honestly, I've found less is more on vacation. I don't bring laundry bags or pop-ups (there are plastic laundry bags in the room that I use for dirty laundry). We use the toiletries provided, so I don't bring shampoo, conditioner or lotion (except sunscreen). And anything I forget to bring, I can buy there.

Bring ponchos for everyone so you don't have to buy them there for extra $. We also bring a drawstring bag so one of us has to go through the bag check line, but the other can go on ahead and get in line. Water bottles, power banks for phones, and granola bars.

I used it to prevent rubbing from my sandals and my sister used it to prevent thigh chafing (she wears dresses in the parks). I also brought Band-Aids specifically for blisters and those were helpful (I got a blister on my toe the only day I wore my tennis shoes). I got it at our local sporting goods store.

We always bring an anti-slip mat for the bath tub. We try to bring something to decorate or illuminate the window so we can identify our room. A little light for the bathroom, but not a plug in one as there is not always a plug in the toilet section and some fans run with the light. We are bringing a roll of paper towels this trip as serviettes are not always thick enough. A Britta filter water bottle as the water tastes a little funny. We also pick up a large bottle of water at the airport for brushing our teeth for the same reason.

Travel size packs of wet wipes. They were invaluable for our trip in January. They fit perfectly in my little purse and I was able to whip them out whenever anyone got sticky or needed a quick hand cleaning or wipe down.

At someone’s suggestion last time I bought some dish soap infused paper towels (you buy them that way) to clean out our refillable mugs. They worked great and I am planning on bringing them again!

Hair ties for the girls. When I have long hair I always forget and just have the one I have in my hair and always loose it. I always travel with a hanging toiletry bag so I never have to unpack our toiletries, just hang it on the back of the bathroom door and work out of it. Put everything back in it when I'm done using it. Nothing is on the counters in the bathroom that way. Zip lock bags, you just never know when you need them. Sometimes they never leave the luggage, sometimes they get used for toothpaste or lotion or anything liquid that might squirt on other things. Chargers for all your electronics. My cell phone, laptop and kindle all use different chargers. I throw one trash bag in my luggage, again might use it might not. If we go swimming the day before we leave, chances are bathing suits aren't going to be dry so they go in there. Or I use them to separate the clean clothes from the dirty clothes in my suitcase on the way home.

Bandaids (blisters from flip flops), and 2 cheap nylon laundry bags. I use one for dirty clothes I will clean during the week, and the other for dirty clothes that can wait till we get home (dry cleaning, etc). In addition to keeping the room neat, it keeps our dirty clothes away from the clean ones on the way home. When we get home it's easier to just throw that bag by the washer.

Gosh, I feel boring. We don’t bring anything but clothes and toiletries.

Perhaps strange but one thing I do bring is a coozie and Tervis. Both can come in handy to keep beverages cold when at the pool, or strolling around Epcot.

Along with other things mentioned, we always bring hand soap. Those little soap bars in the room just don't cut it for us. It's a small thing, but we like really being able to get a nice lather and wash hands in our room. Not just Disney, but at all hotels! We always buy a $1 bottle of pump antibacterial hand soap and throw it in the suitcase to keep by the sink in the room.
