Oddity if switching hotels?

Hopefully I can convey this question right. I have a co-worker who is also DVC (as am I) and told me that three different people she knows said that when they changed Disney DVC resorts while on the dining plan, their credits for the first reservation were added AGAIN to their second one. So when they checked out of the first resort after using up all of the credits for those nights, and checked into the new resort (with dining for the new nights), they ended up with credits totaling both sets of nights. She was sure it was a mistake of course.

Is this making any sense and has this happened to anyone?

It hasn't happened to me, but darn, it sounds like I wish it had. When I switched between two DVC resorts last month (BCV to BWV), I didn't pick up any extra credits, just got what I was supposed to-two nights at each place.

:sad2: That can go the opposite way as well. When we were there in April, we changed resorts midway through the week. We went to eat a TS just like the night before and were told we had 0 left. So we charged the bill to the room and spoke with guest relations.....the next day at lunch....same thing no CS left this time...Both times guest relations were very nice but, it took a long time out of our vacation to keep going back. We had saved some TS from the first half to used the second half at signature 2TS and the same with CS. The cast member could not add them right away because it was going to take our total over the amount of night since it was done as 2 seperate resies......a major pain.

You have to keep some track of your meals if you are going to change hotels to make sure you get all you paid for.

Can you do that? Even if you didn't have a problem with the second set, wouldn't your first set expire at the end of your checkout day? Is it different for DVC?

Yes, this can and did happen to me when I switched from YC to WL - not a split stay, transferred at our request. What happened was on check-out and check-in at new resort day, we ended up with an extra day of dining credits for each of us,all on the new room key.

You can do that. Even though they book it as 2 seperate reservations they are 'linked' together. It is the same as if you are staying at a 2 bedroom villa and just change to a regular room. You are still techincally there for one vacation just 2 linked rooms. So the hotel manually changes things over for you. Usually the computer does not cancel the meal plan. Doe that make sense? I am not sure how it is for a regular booked vacation we are DVC.

So if someone pays for meal plan for only the first stay at the first hotel, could it add back the credits again in error for the second stay at the second hotel?

Not sure. We paid for each half seperately and were able to carry them through the entire week. We didn't get any additional added only subtracted.
