Odd Thread Post: "Smells" in Disneyland

I also really like the smell of the Indy queue. Apparently it's the hydraulic fluid. I love it!

I can't wait to smell all the "smells" (<-- HE HE!) at Disneyland! I'm sure I'll update this post with more when I get back next week!

On our trip in 2008 I bought a set of candles, I didn't light them while there, but the smell of them scented our hotel room. The candles are pretty much all used up now, so they're stored in a cupboard in our kitchen. Whenever I open the doors I'm flooded with memories of Disney!

Ouuu, makes me want to buy candles! Any in particular???

...but am sitting here remembering all the smells! I love how Disney thinks of all these things and can't wait to be back! My family will probably call me crazy for sniffing at all the rides and in the stores but it's just such a unique Disney experience! Thanks to the OP for bringing this topic back up again!

LOL!!! When we came back from our Sept trip, DH and I were at the mall sitting by one of the fountains. We look at each other and said "OMG it smells like POTC!!!"

I LOVE the carmel popcorn smell in DTD and I get giddy when I walk up to PoTC and smell the Pirates smell for the first time that trip!!! LOL!!!

Great thread!!! Ahhh....the lingering smells of Soarin'; a little orange, a little fresh water, a little ocean.

And of course, the Churros! I can feel them in my hand right now. My mouth is watering!!

Star Tours still smells like Adventure Thru Inner Space smelled...sort of musty, but in a pleasant way, if that makes any sense. Maybe it's just pleasant to me because I'm used to it

I'm also a fan of the smell of the water in POTC.

Okay, so I've been reading "older" posts from last month and came upon a thread regarding stinky smells in Disneyland, which made me start thinking... has anybody ever noticed the different smells in the different rides and stores? Call me strange, but I actually enjoy them! I actually have déjà vu of being there as a child. I'm particularly referring to Pirates of the Caribbean! Does anybody know what I'm talking about? I also enjoy another smell in one of the stores, but I'm having a "brain fart" and the more I try and think of it, the more I can't remember - errrr! I know this is completely random, but I was just curious.

I know exactly what you're talking about, especially for that ride. It's an incredible ride. If I ever chose a country and state to relocate to, I swear it would be Disneyland. I absolutely LOVE that place. It has so many incredible memories.

Least favorite smell:

The left que on Pirates when you get a whiff of sewage. Blech.

OMG. Yes. YES!

We joke about that, because we forget about it every time. My daughter and I quietly tease my husband that we think it's him stinking up the joint. But I'll never forget the first time she wrinkled up her nose and said "what is THAT!?"

Love the smells on Soarin'. DD10 insists that the desert part smells like camel poop. I've explained that the CA desert doesn't have camels but she's not buying it. She holds her nose everytime!

POTC smell! Whenever I smell it outside of DL it instantly transports me back! I also love the river rafting part of Soarin', Pooh Corner sweet shop, and churros! Gibson Girl is an absolute Must for a drive by wiff!

Ahhhhh, fabulous! I also agree about the rain. Those first few minutes....there is just something about it!

I hate that kettle corn smell in DTD! Nice from afar, but sickeningly sweet up close.

"Disneyland: where everything smells good & everyone's happy"...it can be the "theme" for next year. And they could sell/give out scratch n sniff stickers that have various scents from the Park & pictures of what they are on the stickers.

I want the "train going through the Grand Canyon tunnel" sticker, the "POTC water" sticker, and the "Main Street Candy Palace" sticker!

I don't think anyone's mentioned this one yet, but it's a small world used to have a smell, from the water. It was probably just overchlorination, but I always associated it with going to Disneyland in the summer when I was little. Ever since the new flumes were put in, it just hasn't been the same.

1 of the 2 smells piped in to Pirates use to be MOLD but they had to stop using the mold smell, too many Asthmatics were having trouble with it kicking up their symptoms badly.

the other may have been smoke for the burning scenes.

It's not so much the smells I rememer as it is the music in each land. Bugs land is the loudest most annoying as it repeats so much so often! and this coming from someone who worked in the old Disney Store where the music was on repeat my whole shift!!!!

During the last trip at the end of April there was a sewage smell every time we walked out of the castle toward Frontier Land. Anyone notice that lately?

POTC smell rocks. Reminds me of one of my first stolen kisses.

Speaking of smells and days gone by, the first time I smelled grass was on Adventure Thru Inner Space (now ST) during a school retreat. Had to ask the kid next to me what it was. He looked at me funny and immediately clued me in.
