"Odd" thing at Elsa/Anna meet and greet

We were told today we were not allowed to take a pic of just Anna and my dd(DD was dressed like Anna), because "both sisters really like doing things together". Is that really a rule?

It was not a "time" thing-we used FP and went in with one other family. Just thought is was odd.

It's probably the guideline they have to follow. Some guests would want a separate photo with Anna, then one with Elsa, and finally one with both of them. In Disney's opinion, that's two photos too many... and the attendants and characters have to follow the directives.

CMs can be inconsistent sometimes. Whether or not it is a formal "rule" that most CMs don't enforce or whether it was a CM on a power trip I don't know.

The funny thing is-it took longer for the photopass cm to explain all that than the photo would have taken LOL.

Kind of on this subject, we were told by one CM only throughout our entire trip that if a Photopass CM sees a camera they have to use it. We had told him we didn't need him to because we had Memory Maker. That isn't true, is it?

I've never heard of that happening before with A&E or other characters (with the exception of maybe the 7 Dwarves at MVMCP/MNSSHP or a big character group that does a meet like that at a party). DD often wants a photo of herself with 1 character from a duo or group and it has never been an issue. She has had separate photos with Vanellope, Bolt, Dug, Tiana, Naveen, Flynn, Rapunzel, Prince Charming (MVMCP), Cinderella (MVMCP), and I'm sure there are a bunch of others I'm forgetting.

How much time do you get with them? I was under the impression that they interact with you for at least 2-3 minutes. A picture would take all of 15 seconds.

By having Fp+ for character meets, Disney has to keep the waits short. That's why only two or three families enter the meet so that arriving/waiting guests with Fp+ aren't waiting more than 10 minutes.

I've never heard that. In fact, we have had at least one occasion where the photopass photographer refused to take a shot with our camera which I was told they are not supposed to do if you ask.

I will say you should get photos with your own camera instead of just relying on Memory Maker. There are definitely plenty of times the photopass cameras malfunction. Almost every trip in the past few years we have had at least one set of photos from somewhere that gets lost and that photopass has been unable to retrieve. We have also had some instances where the photopass photo turned out really bad, and ours was a ton better (we've had the opposite happen too where ours was bad and photopass was good). You definitely want to use your camera as a back up when possible.

See above where the explanation took longer than the pic would have. From what I am seeing so far-this does not seem to be the "norm" maybe we had a control freak CM, or they mis understood.

It just seemed really odd to me. We have tons of pics with dd and just 1 character. (Yep I got the kid who wanted JUST the Prince in the pic LOL)

We've seen Anna and Elsa 6 times now (2 in Norway and 4 in MK) and the two times my daughter was dressed as Anna, we didn't ask for a picture with just Anna but it wasn't offered either. (When we saw Rapunzel and Flynn on Valentine's Day it was a VERY busy attraction with an hour wait in FP+ return) and yet, with that wait and the meet and greet only being that one day from 9-5, the characters just took it upon themselves to seperate and allow my daughter--who was dressed as Rapunzel-- to get pics with them each alone, and also together.

The only pic we've been able to get with just Anna alone was during the walk over, like this:

My best guess, is it's a rule that is in place to try to help the line move along as swiftly as possible, and how strict they are on it depends on the CM.

I have PhotoPass pix of my daughter with both Anna and Elsa on their own. Several of each, actually, which I liked because I could use the "Anna" and "Elsa" borders on them. They aren't posed pictures, but I like them better candid, anyway.

Photopass photographers' photos get reviewed by their Managers. I'm sure if they are told not to take individual photos, they don't want photos such as that showing up in their daily inventory.

Actually, now that you mention it, I do have some pics of just DD and Elsa (taken in Norway). This one I took, but I'm pretty sure Photopass Photographer captured a few shots of the same scene. (and I agree about the candid shots being better than posed.)

Were your individual shots taken while they were meeting in Norway, or in MK? I have FP+ for this weekend, so I might just have to ask a CM and see what they say. :confused3

From the other accounts-that doesn't seem to be the case. Logically if photographers were not supposed to take single pictures (for fear of getting in trouble) the simple thing to do would be for the Cm to not take the pic.

They were taken on 4/22, the third morning they were in MK, so the policy may have changed since then. However, if the shots are candids rather than posed, anyway, I don't see how the photographers can make sure they get BOTH in every. single. picture.

But ferd is also explaining that there is a difference between meets which were at Norway versus those at MK. The A&E meets are being highly scrutinized by Management.

And, if you asked for an individual picture and found that it wasn't taken when you reviewed MM, you would have had a logical complaint... the CM was being proactive.

It sounds like the difference here is "posed" photos. Nothing wrong with some candids, or close-ups of a child hugging one of the characters, but not stand side by side and smile for the camera.

I can see where that would be disappointing to some, but understand why they are doing it.

Just looked at the Photpass pics-I am going with "grumpy CM" lol. I got 4 pics of Elsa and Anna. The "happy Photopass CM" with Sleeping Beauty-7 pics, the hug, the pose, a candid. I have no hugs from Elsa/Anna, no candid-just the pose.
