Odd Question from CM for ADRs

Does anyone but me think it strange that when I called today the CM not only asked if I had the DDP but asked how many TS meals I got a day on my plan before telling me that there was no ADRs available? His exact phrasing was "Do you get one or two sit down meals a day?" I have never had this question asked before. I find it strange that he asked this then told me no after I told him one. Instead of just telling me no since I had already told him exactly where and when I was looking for the ADR.

Would it be wrong to call back and tell them I'm not on the DDP and then try for the ADR which I would then put it in my DHs name?

It couldn't hurt to try. That is really odd though. I've been asked some wierd questions before but not that. :confused3

He was probably just making small talk with you while waiting for his computer to give him an answer. I've had lots of chit-chat with CMs while waiting on their systems to come up with availability, or confirms or whatever.

Whether or not you're on the DDP (or which plan) does not make any difference whatsoever on dining reservations. You do not have to be on the plan to book any restaurant...you don't even have to be staying at a Disney hotel to book dining reservations.

Perhaps he was asking in case there was no availability where you wanted to go and then he would check some signature restaurants for you where you would need 2 TS credits.

Don't read too much into it really!!!

Definately wierd, but not only that you either get 1 or 3 since the DXDDP can be used for either TS or CS so I think I would have asked which plan gives 2? My brian is odd, so I that would have been the first response he would have rec'd from me, then I would have said I get 3 per day!

He definitely wasn't making small talk. I was like huh? and he goes are you on the standard two meal, one quick service one table service or the two table service plan? I said "oh, the one table service." he said "okay, then." Then he said "well, we have no availability." Very strange.

I do think he was making small talk and simply asking you if you had the regular dining plan or the deluxe one. By the time he asked that and you answered, the availability had just come up on his screen.

I don't do the dining plan and I have never had any problem with making any dining reservations. Not when I call at exactly my (now) 90 days (and I stay offsite so don't have the +10 days) or when I call closer to my trip.

Where and when were you trying for availability?

I agree that he was just making small talk with you. I wouldn't read anything more than that into it.
Good Luck

Tusker house in the AM in May. I'm only about 45 days out from the day that I want.

You know that expression "It's not just what you say, it's also how you say it"? Well, it was also they way he expressed himself, his tone. How he said there was no availability.

If you happen to call back update us to let us know what happens. Yes, I also believe that is a weird question, but I'm not sure I would have looked into it much.

I'd maybe call back but it really doesn't surprise me that TH had no availability. I'm sure it was chit-chat and his "no availability" just came out the wrong way. Maybe he was annoyed with the slowness of the stupid system they have.

I think it may have just been small talk as we have never used DDP and when I request a few ADRs I suddenly get the questions about why am I not on DDP. When I booked ADRs for our last trip, the CM almost sounded like they were reading off a script - alot of questions, but that was all it was- small talk and that was that. Kinda riled me at the time, but then I was just nerved from making the call and was glad when it was over.

As people have said...there is no plan that only gives you 2 TS. The normal one is one TS one CS, and the Deluxe DP is 3 meals, either CS or TS whatever you want. So what on earth was he even talking about?

Weird.

I just called the other day for TH and was told the same thing. We are there shortly after you. The MS simply said I am sorry their is no availability, and he asked me what radio station I was listening too...just small talk. Sorry you didn't get your ADR.

I did call back and this time the girl didn't ask those questions but she did say to me that is was all booked up. I don't know something about the way the first CM asked those questions was just plain weird. I mean I do have an ADR for that day, just not at the time I want. I'm debating between keep calling back or changing for something else entirely as we already have two character meals. It's tough because I want the breakfast, but I also don't want to waste two hours of a very short park day at a meal; the park is only open 9-5 that day and we don't have PH.

This also sounds like someone who isn't entirely up on the dining plan, as no one on the dining plan is allocated "one or two sit-down meals a day." Rather you are given credits per NIGHT of your stay and you can book your meals and use your credits whenever you like. It's conceivable that someone on the basic plan could be booking three sit-down meals on one day if they wished to.
