Odd question from an American new q post 91

You can't beat a nice cup of Typhoo or PG Tips as far as I'm concerned. The only 'posh' tea I really like is Orange Pekoe which makes a nice strong cuppa.

And as for peanut butter yuck ,but my hubby loves the stuff.Every week in Asda(you're Walmart)i have to buy 2 Reeses Nutrageous bars+2 packs of Reeces Peanut butter cups.
My Nan loves a crunchy peanut butter and chopped banana sandwich .x.

Too funny. Peanut butter is like a staple in almost every kids diet here. Course, I could never eat spotted dick. I don't even know what it is, but it just sounds gross.

Spotted dick and custard .Its a sweet suet pudding(like cake mix) with sultanas+currants in it.

I don't think i will ever understand biscuits with gravy .x.

I don't understand bicuits and gravy either. It's like a heart attack on a plate. Why not just call the paramedics at the same time you order.

Also, granted I'm not from the south and rarely eat grits, but I was under the understanding that porridge was oatmeal. And oatmeal and grits are not the same thing. But that's all southern style cooking. I'm a yankee. (Yeah, I know, we're all yankees to you guys. LOL) Give me a foot long coney (Koegels of course and NOT a chili dog they are TOTALLY not the same thing) with cheese, onions, and mustard anyday.

Hi Tricia you are right porridge is oatmeal but grits has a very similar texture.

A hot tea with plenty of colour to it, there's nothing worse than tea that looks like dishwater

I've never tried iced tea, maybe if the weather was warmer....

I lile both hot tea and iced tea. In the summer we make sun tea. At stores like Wal-Mart they sell sun tea jars (clear gallon jug with spout). We fill it with water and toss a couple family sized tea bags, set it out in the morning by late afternoon nicely brewed tea served over ice.

Unfortunately unlike America as mentioned before we are now being "told" not to be proud of being British for fear of it upsetting people especially people who live her and are not British. Whats wrong with celebrating your nationality whether you feel British, English, Scottish, Welsh or Irish

That's just crazy. I have recently traced my ancestry. My family all came from the UK. That makes me very proud. I find UK history amazing. If I were to relocate anywhere in the world, it would be to the UK.

As for spotted dick don't panic nothing spotted or otherwise in it, same as toad in the hole no toads.

What is Yorkshire pudding? It looks like a roll with brown gravy.

lol, its a batter mixture, traditionally served with roast dinner (although some restaurants now serve it with fillings).

Yorkshire puddings are made with the same mixture you make pancakes with in a very hot oven and they rise, you can eat them sweet with jam and custard or with savoury usually roast beef.
spotted dick is a very traditionally dessert made with suet - its very stodgy but good.
What about christmas cake, irish stew, cornish pasties and fish and chips,
ps I love peanut butter and also go to asda just to get peanut butter cups.
f a g g ots are a local meat ball type speciality near birmingham, sorry for spacing it out, but it is coming up as an offensive word.

You can get maple flavoured bacon/pork steaks over here-if you're lucky to find them.They are so delicious.Otherwise i wii do it myself,with honey,maple syrup+brown sugar glaze before i cook them.x.

.No,no shepherds in the pie.I love shepherds pie,mince beef(although tradition would be lamb mince)onons,carrots+gravy in a dish with mashed potato on top+then cooked in the oven-lovely.
