Odd ... Quad Pricing

I just called about the Southwest tour for 08. It appears that the price is the same if you have four people in one room or four people in 2 rooms. I would have thought there would be a difference in the price of the room maybe $500 - $1000 if you have all 4 in one room.

Has anyone recieved different information? Has anyone done the two rooms and requested them to be connected? I do not know why anyone would not just get the two rooms and request that they be connecting for the same price?

Thanks

This is what "TammyDel" posted on another thread:

I did call ABD they quoted me for - the Southwest Splendors Tour Departure 8/16/08, $2159 per adult and $1949 per child. This includes the early booking discount. She told me without early booking it would be $2699 adult and $2429 child.
When I pointed out that that seems to be a $500 per person increase from last year she said something about not really offering the quad rates - she even offered me 2 rooms each with 1 bed same price. She went on to expain that this way if someone cancels the rate doesn't change. I thought this would be a single and a double then?!? Not that I think anyone in my party will cancel.
I'm sure many will think I'm crazy - I did not take the 2 rooms. My kids would not want to be in a room without thier parents (yet!) and I don't want my husband and I to have to split up and each take a child.
Anyway it is a big jump in price. Using last years #'s w/ early booking I came up with $5696 this year it is $7206. $1510 differance. We will still do the trip, but wow that is a big jump from one year to the next.
I'll be anxious to see all the numbers when I can look and compare it all.

Moral of the story is - if you've saved the date - call to check your prices. They did say they were converting all the reservations to actual pricing and will mail out info soon.

Dave,
I just returned from Southwest Splendors. Our family of four stayed in two rooms and paid the same as we would have with one room. I too thought it was odd.
We asked for connecting rooms. They told us at the time of reservation that they make this request but it is not guaranteed. At the Amara we were diagonal across the hall from each other. At the Grand Hotel we were next door to each other but not connected. And at the Red Cliffs Lodge we were connected. Interestingly, at the Red Cliffs the rooms were huge and more like a suite, and we could have stayed in one room there with no problem (the rooms sleep 6).

Debbie - thanks for your post!
This is the one reason why I may pass on the two rooms. (I know call me crazy!) If they could guarantee connecting it would be wonderful - 2 bathrooms, space for stuff, separate for TV and sleep, privacy! But as I said in my previous post - The kids aren't ready for a room on thier own, and would probably kill each other (10 year old girl, 11 year old boy - can you imagine :scared1: ) That leave DH and I splitting up each with a child, not the way I imagine our family vacation.
It's driving me crazy because who wouldn't want 2 rooms for the price of 1.  Just realized they are not giving us 2 rooms for the price of 1. DUH! they are charging double prices for a quad! Last year there was a breakdown depending on how many per room. Cheaper for quad, not so now. Now you pay for a double - thus the hefty price increace for my family of 4. Hmmmmm. Took me long enough!
