So I went to order coffee this morning, it was around 6am. The girl at the counter was talking on her cell phone when she took my order. I order, she starts making my coffee wrong (I ordered hot, she is pouring iced) but I am not sure how to interrupt her conversation to correct her. So she comes back (still talking on the cell) and I remind her what I ordered, then I watch as she gets it wrong the second time, comes back to hand it to me. Nope, still wrong! So I tell her to forget it as I get into a different line hoping the other girl can maybe help me. Then I hear her telling the other person on the phone what a witch I am. What is the world coming to? It was like I wasnt even there! Who could we be chatting with at 6am? How many customers do you think were annoyed by this today?

And before you ask, I did ask for a manager, I was told they would be in at 11am. I never did call or anything, but me & my df were still laughing about this at dinner.

That would annoy me too. As does the grocery store cashier who is complaining to the bagboy about her job while she is checking me out.

I agree with you. Why do these people pressume that its ok to talk on co time and get paid for it. If I were you I would be calling the co to make the complaint about her comment. If you dont then your letting her know its okay to continue with her behavior. I see it as if you are cashering, or even being the customer please dont talk on your phone. In either situation you cant tell if there talking to you or the other person. It is very rude. Please dont be embarrased to say something to her boss. Jo

Why do employers allow their workers to talk or text on the phone while they are supposed to be working? :confused3:confused3 Nothing like getting paid to play with your friends.

6am and yakking away. You are nice, I would have said something snippy, especially at that hour, like, put down the phone, and take the order correctly. She can call me what she will after I am gone.

I do suggest you contact the manager, after all this is undoubtedly an isolated incident.

Cell phones, it seems to me, have brought out a new and exciting way for people to be down right rude.

Fight fire with fire!

The best response to this one is for you to whip out your phone and start a loud conversation with someone (well, okay, fake a conversation with someone) about the memory-challenged barista who can't remember an order for 15 seconds.

Or alternatively, snap a pic of her with the cell phone glued to her ear while working and ask for the manager's email address. Don't say you're going to send the picture, just let her draw her own conclusions!

I would've followed up with that 11:00 phone call..........I'm sure coffee girl wouldn't try that again.

:thumbsup2 I like the way you think!

Extremely rude - but sadly, not surprising..:sad2:

That's my big pet peeve. I can't stand listening to people complaining to coworkers about their jobs while they are working.

OMG, that would've been wicked cool! :rotfl2:

These incompetent people have no clue nor care how many people are currently out of work and are desperate for a job...maybe theirs! :guilty:

I stopped going to my wax girl when she took a phone call in the middle of my wax and stayed on the phone- this was years ago. I still see her at the salon I go to but never went back to her again, and don't even look at her anymore. If she ever asked me why i'd tell her the truth, so unprofessional.

They are probably the same kind of people that fool around on the computer on co time and expect to get paid for it. ;)

What she did was very rude and unprofessional. However, having been behind the counter, it's also rude when the customer is talking on the phone - at least to me it is. If I'm on the phone while I'm in line to pay, I'll put my phone in my pocket until I'm done with the transaction so I can give the person behind the counter the attention that is needed to complete everything. Of course, that is just me.

But I would give the manager a call anyway. :)

She just wasted two perfectly good cups of coffee. If she does that a lot, she is costing the shop money.

You really do need to report this. If I were a manager I would want to know if my employees were doing this.

I would have followed-up on that phone call too. At the same time, if I were to go back to the same place to get coffee, I'd make sure I had a different person waiting on me. Coffee girl might remember me, and put something nasty in my coffee.

Chances are that coffee girl won't be there in the future if you go back. I imagine that she acts like this a lot and the manager will find out.

I was just in that area for a CPR class, won't be going back there! I did try to call this morning. No one answered, it rang like 10 times. Oh well I tried.
