Odd Beach Club Villas Problem

Hello, I never post and spend most of my time on the boards lurking but, we had an odd thing happen. We were in a Beach Club 2 bedroom villa the week of November 16-19 room # 341. Whenever we turned the television on in the living room a sign would appear on the screen and then after 20 seconds would disappear. It said Drew Springer Loves China. Extremely odd to say the least. After it disappeared a continuous series of lights came through the television picture. Naturally I googled Drew Springer and it appears he is a Texas State Senator.
I looked behind the TV but as I am not tech savvy really didn't know what to look for. I assume the odd lights in the screen were there to project the statement on Mr. Springer. The other TV's were unaffected. I reported the issue to a cast member who was in the villas lobby. She was quite taken aback and said she would report it. It was still present when we checked out. When we returned home I did call the resort and tell them but no idea if it was addressed. Can any tech savvy people can tell me how it was done?IMG_2880.jpeg

These TVs are in what's called hotel mode and they have programming features available to them in that mode that your TV at home doesn't have. Interestingly, some home TVs have that mode and all you have to do is turn it on. Anyway, I digress. If you know how to get into the TV and have a normal remote (not the hotel remotes), putting up banners and things like that are pretty common availabilities to the hotels. That's probably what was going on. Someone pranked the TV. An easy reset for somebody to go fix. Whether they will and whether it takes an act of congress to actually get it done is a whole 'nother story. LOL

Thank You Wilson Flyer( Bob). I spoke to DVC who gave me direct phone number to Beach Club front desk. Somehow I do not think much will happen. But I will try.

I hope you get help.
Would maintenance help?

We have since checked out. I thought about Disney’s tech dept. I let the resort know about it but none knew what to do. It was such an odd thing to have happened. I am not from Texas but someone is having fun at this man’s expense. I have told the resort and DVC. It’s a unique issue to say the least.

Strange! We had this very same room in Feb 22' and we had the same message, the kids would laugh every day at it, we all thought it was weird.

The lights on the screen appear to be damage to the TV set itself and likely unrelated to the pop up banner..

White spots (dots) on the TV screen are a very common problem on LCD TVs. Almost all LCD TVs work by using a small chip that is made up of millions of tiny mirrors. Each mirror is like a dot or pixel on that screen. When the reflector or lens is moved from the spot, it causes these white dots to appear on the screen.

Also known as damage to the TV and not related to the popup message.....which is what I said.

The China reference is due to a bill he sponsored to allow Chinese drones fly over private properties in Texas.

If whoever gets the room I just checked out of sees that message on the TV, I definitely did not do it. :rolleyes1

:rolleyes1
