We are planning a trip for either Oct 11-12 (Columbus Day weekend) or Oct 18-19. I assume crowds get heavier as Halloween nears but given the holiday weekend Oct 11-12, which weekend do you think will have lighter crowds?

We visit DL about 4 times a year but the last time we went in Oct was before DL had Halloween decorations. We often go in the summer so we are used to heavy crowds, but we're hoping for lighter crowds on an Oct weekend.

since they started doing the halloween party a few years back, Oct. is crowded period...but honestly I guess if you had to pick one or the other I would go with 18-19...

Just so you know, Utah schools are out Oct. 16, 17 and 20th and DLR seems to be a pilgrimage for Utah families for their Fall Break. We were there at that time 2 years ago and it was extremely crowded. :scared:

but that is still a better time to go vs. Columbus Day wknd....not all of Utah will be there...or will they:rolleyes1

We went last Oct in the middle of the month and Saturday evening was very packed with locals. I guess if lived there I would be at DL on the weekend too!

Any time there is a holiday it is crazy crowded at Disneyland. Stay away from the holiday! Visit the 18-19th! California Adventure is usually not as busy so try visiting there on Saturday and visiting Disneyland on Sunday.

I don't think it will be worse then visiting in the summer. The only time it is worse is in December or 4th of July.

You have gay days Oct 4th-5th, Columbus Day the 13th and and Halloween the 31st. I would try to go around the 18th unless you are interested in attending Miley Cyrus private party birthday bash. The tickets just went on sale Saturday and they are only selling 5,000 tickets. Normal park attendance is guestimated at 30,000.
Have fun planning!!

so how about oct. 24-26th? :confused3 do you think it will be bad? i hope not. And do you think crowded like summer crowd or less?

The RideMax software is predicting similar weekend crowds as August weekends for:
Oct 4-5 (Gay days)
Oct 11-12 (Columbus Day weekend)
Oct 25-26 (close to Halloween?)

So, according to RideMax, those weekends will feel like a summer weekend in terms of crowds. (i.e. one-hour waits for Indy and Space in the middle of the day)

Now, for some reason, it is showing Oct 18-19 as considerably busier than the other Oct weekends, even more so than a summer weekend. What's going on that weekend?

October is nuts, whenever you go. Just be prepared to follow Hydroguy's rules: get there before park opening, collect FPs in the morning, take a midday break when the crowds peak; come back in the evening and use your accumulated FPs.
