Is anyone interested in doing an October trip goal thread? Just like the "Get in Shape & Lose Weight for August 2014" thread.

I'm going the last week of October. I have some very ambitious costume dreams. I also have 60lbs of extra weight, most which it came on in the last year due to medical stuff. I'm making changes in my life - gym sessions, eating healthy - but I worry that it's too little or too late. (My Dad died of diabetes & obesity last Thanksgiving.)

Anyway, I'm looking for some accountability, and it'd be great to connect with folks who are also going to be at MNSSHP. :)

I'd be interested! We're also going the last weekend in October. I just recently started working out at the gym 3 days a week and have been trying to cut back on the sweets and eat a little healthier. I have about 20 pounds I'd like to lose. I haven't read the other thread, so I'm not sure what's expected of me, but I'm game for whatever! :)

My life is in limbo until I find FT work but I'm hoping I can make an Oct trip to either DL or DW. DL more reasonable its an 8 hour drive or so and I've been wanting to see California Adventures. My one and only DL experience was in 1993 way before it was around. ;)

Then next year sometime in Spring or Fall I want to visit my family Florida and go to multiple WDW parks. My daughter has only been to MK(TWICE once at 2 and again just a month shy of 6). I prefer fall so I'd probably stretch it towards Sept/Oct.

I'd be interested in being held accountable!! We have a trip in Nov (W&D 1/2), so it's not that far off.

Yeah I'd say a fall Oct/Nov goal or mini goal challenge is neat. I'm doing the WISH away the pounds monthly challenge but really working on committing to losing a mini goal amount by the end of Oct. I was thinking October for trip as I've not done Disney at Halloween before really. I think it would be fun. I never dress up but I would be tempted to for Disney. :rolleyes1

Oh man, I am in! I've got a cruise coming up in October and for once I would like to be in my bathing suit in the water (and not have small children running from me screaming).

I've just started the couch to 5K program and hoping I survive this first week!

How did I get so old, slow, and fat? :(

We're going in mid-November, and I'm looking to drop 25 lbs by then. My issue is migraines. I get them about every other day which makes exercising virtually impossible, and also makes preparing fresh food ridiculous. But I'm sick of wearing my "fat" clothes all of the time. Guess I'll start with trying to take evening walks...better than nothing!

Even the smallest changes bear great significance! I'm sorry about the loss of your father.

Well I have nothing planned for October, but I would love to get to my goal weight by the holidays, so I would love to join! I am using Weight Watchers Online program, and it's been working out well. I think having this accountability group will be really helpful.

I get migraines too, Boltfan, although not every other day...that sounds horrendous. :(

So sorry you lost your Dad. Mine died too young with complications of diabetes.

I'm in for this thread. In April, I had 60 lbs. to lose. I've lost 30 since then so I'm halfway there! You can do it too! pixiedust: I have to admit, it's easier for me to work on the eating plan than getting the exercise in so this week, I started going back to the gym. Up until this week, I have not been very active. I am interested in working up to being able to walk a lot (we are going to WDW the end of Sept./early Oct). Also, I'd love to tone up! I don't expect to lose the rest of my 30 lbs. by the time of our WDW trip, but will keep working on losing lbs. and getting fit. Any helpful tips are appreciated. I just began walking on the treadmill so haven't worked up to 30 min. but close! I think I'll also get out my Leslie Sansone walk dvd's and add to it.

We can all get in better health/fitness and I'm excited to have a short term goal of feeling good and looking great at Disney!

Our trip is in late November, but I'm definitely down for a group! I've been struggling lately and have been stuck for quite a while at the 53 pounds lost mark. I'd love to see another 20 pounds gone by our trip (although I'd be thrilled with more), I'd just be happy to see the scale move again at this point!

Our trip is early-mid November, but I'm in! To get this started, I'll share a salad recipe I just made. I am not a fan of salads, but I've had this particular one at a restaurant a few times, and I finally decided to make it on my own!

I used iceberg lettuce, canned corn, canned chick peas, fresh green pepper, fresh roma tomato, and fresh cucumber. It was also supposed to have artichoke hearts--but I ate my only can yesterday--and red onion--but I totally forgot to put it in. The key to this salad is to chop everything into tiny little bits and then toss it lightly with your dressing of choice. I used Newman's Own Lite Sun Dried Tomato, and it was delicious!

In case you're curious, the salad is Ted's Chopped Salad from Ted's Montana Grill. Google pictures of it, cause it is delicious!!

Your salad sounds delicious! I like to make my own balsamic olive oil vinegrette, and I bet it would taste great with that.

So, do we want to check in every couple of days or so and say how we are doing on our personal goals?

This week has been odd for me, I had to cut out fiber foods for a medical procedure. But I'm back to my normal eating now, and very happy about that. Despite that I've stayed on point with WW, so I'm pleased.

How is everyone else doing?

I bet it would taste good with a homemade vinaigrette!

Yeah, I think just check in with any goal progress or helpful hints for eating or being healthier. Anything to keep us motivated!
