Do you feel in the month of october it is more or less necessary to have ps's in advance? Thanks

I think if you want some of the more popular meals, Cindy's, Chef Mickeys etc. Then I'd make a PS, but otherwise you'll probably be ok for the main part.

I agree. It all depends on which restaurant, on what night, and at what time. As an example, if you want California Grill around 8:00 on Saturday night, you would do well to get PS.

We are going in October & I am planning to make a few PS but I have found that with there being less people, the restaurants are not as crowded.

You can always cancel them and planning is half the fun! Its not like it takes a lot of time to make them.

Especially if you would be crushed if you couldn't get into your favorite restaurant when you wanted - make them. Even if your favorite restaurant is not normally popular.

We love eating at Marrakesh, and make a PS there no matter when we travel - even though we often walk right in with no wait to a half empty restaurant (and often stroll in half an hour before our PS).

On the other hand, if you are a "fly by the seat of your pants" type of WDW vacationer - October is a great time to travel because you can walk into a lot of restaurants, you don't have to have an orchestrated attack plan for attractions, and you can pretty much play everything by ear with few disappointments. (I'd still make them for anything really popular - you'd be nuts to travel and expect to walk into Cindy's no matter how empty the park is).

We will be there first week in October (have been in October a couple of times). I usually arrange PS when I get to resort, but I have already booked a few for this trip. I had to take a second choice for dinner time at O'Hana's, got dinner at California Grill, could not get lunch at Cindy's, so I booked dinner. My overall October experiences have been that I can usually book same day, sometimes can walk right in. If your heart is set on a particular place, book it. They are very quick and efficient at dining reservations number. Good luck!

I made a dinner PS for every night of our October trip. If we decide we want to eat somewhere else, or just have counter service, then I can easily cancel it. I'd rather have them now than run around WDW trying to find a decent meal. ;) Also we need early times (like 5:30) and we don't want to wait for a table (because we have young children).

If you want any character meals then definitely make a ps. :)

mky, I haven't made any yet. I figured we could make them the day of or the day before, I honestly have no idea what we'll be doing any of the days we're there. :) I usually make atleast 1 per day (many times 2 per day). Disney is going to wonder what is wrong with me! (LOL, first not staying at the GF, now not making PS's!)

I too am going in October and went ahead with some PS's just because I'll have my two wonderfully behaved, never a problem, won't make a fuss kids with me;) . If you want a specific time I would make a PS, like we are going to the Princess breakfast and I wanted to go later in the morning. But it's usually pretty quiet in October.

We leave in two weeks and are staying for 13 days. We've made all our PS's in advance because we just like planning ahead.

I do remember a couple years ago during our October trip that we had to wait 30 minutes even with a PS at the Sci-Fi Dinner Theater. Since that experience, we've just decided to always make PS's.
