October Car Rental On Site

Planning a trip for Oct 11 - 20th and getting sticker shock on car rentals for a minivan. Love the convenience of having a car to get around WDW.

I was wondering if it would be worth using DME(have never used it before) to and from the airport and renting a car on site at WDW...without the need for luggage room we can rent a smaller car too. Has anyone ever done this? Where would you go for the rental? Is there any real savings doing it this way or just a major hassle?

Wait it out. The prices will drop. October is a long time out. I've been getting around $600+ for a full size or premium for October. There's no way I'll pay that. We've been traveling during October for years. I paid $275 for a premium through Alamo for 10 days in 2011.

Prices usually go down quite a bit a few weeks before your trip, but often mini vans are not discounted very much.

Alamo is on-site at the Swan and at the Care Care Center (MK parking lot area). The CCC location has shuttle that will pick you up/drop you off, so yes, many people take DME and rent a smaller car on-site.

The catch is that it often looks cheaper to rent off-airport until the real discounts are released just a few weeks ahead of time. Then you have to decide if you want to save a bit or use DME.

Prices right now are insane!We may fly into Tampa vs Orlando save some $$$ and it looks like rentals are cheaper there too. We also are unsure if we will have to rent 2 cars vs a minivan. But by the time you add extra gas, tolls and so on it come to be the same......I am hoping to see something better than 489.00 for a 10day rental. I just paid 150 with taxes for a minivan with alamo for 8 days in Nov! Right now we are looking at staying Oct 24th-Nov2nd
