I was wondering if one of you talented people could help me out on my door sign. I have the art; I just need someone to change some of the letters around. I don't have a program that will let me do that. Any takers? PPPLLLLEEEAAASSSEEE!

I also can design if needed. No problem.

Idea.... Could we have a door magnet that looked like our button??? Then as we go down the halls we would know each other!!

OK I just spent all this time working on my first Zazzle button. Of course, now I just got an email notification that they are removing it from their site because there is a Disney image that would be copyright protected. I got it off a free clipart site. What kinds of graphics are you all using on your buttons? How can I get around this???

WOW! I have used many pics on the buttons I have started and they haven't vetoed any. Wonder if mine are all second-hand pics so they don't think they are copyrighted. Hmm, we may never know, although some I have created myself using the mickey ears . <sigh> I've heard said that my buttons are too busy... What can I say, I like to get my bang for the buck and shove anything and everything I can on it!! Whatever, I can spin out a few and hope that something catches somebody's eye. I figure if we don't like any one design we could pull several together using what we like best of them all..

I LOVE that idea. I can't wait to decorate up my door. I looked at your zazzel buttons. They don't look too busy to me. I like the first one and the last one the best I think.

Laura: You're actually thinking of buying a button maker! In my family we would call you "ate-up" i.e. Laura is ate-up with the idea of buttons. I don't know how that started, but girl you are ate-up! LOL I'll throw some cash towards the button maker if that's the way it winds up going. And not to be cheap, but I think you can buy those cheapee plastic pin buttons at Office Max where you cut out the picture and put it between plastic. We might want something nicer though that would last. Just thought I would throw that out there.

You're coming to Hilton Head?! Let me know when and I'll stand outside my house and wave to you. I hope you have a great time. Plus, great time to do some shopping for cruise clothes. Bring the sunscreen. It is so blessed hot. I've never been so excited by the idea of a tropical storm just to get some rain. Are you DVCing it at Hilton Head or are you just coming?

your DD can use it for job identification 20 years from now and get a definite laugh. NO kidding. My DS has used his expired passport from when he was 2 1/2 for I9 validation. It SAYS a passport, "current or expired"...doesn't say anything about it being an ADULT picture. He said he got some interesting looks using a passport of a blond headed little kid when he was 30 with medium brown hair down to his waist. ...but I guess the resemblance was there. Maybe they figured that no one but him would dare try that trick. At least the named matched.

Lauren... I dont really want to buy a button maker really I dont. But if that's the only way to get our button of choice... I still dont want to buy one! I think we need to try and get around the copywrite issue!!

It is with great excitement that I tell everyone that our family friend Linda will be joining us on the cruise.
The short version of who Linda is to my family is this:
Linda and her husband George were best friends with my parents. Over the last 7 years George passed away as did my mom and dad. Linda has become a surrogate grandma to my kids (though they call her Linda, no aunt or grandma attached to her name) and a motherly influence in my life. She is so special and important to our family.
We have also offered to bring my husbands parents, though I am not sure they will accept.

So laura, if you wouldn't mind please add Linda in room 7620 to your list

rdy2bpampered: I love those button ideas! Some of that is the exact same clip art I was using! I just downloaded a bunch from free clip art sites. Yours are much better than mine so I will just stay away from the design arena for now. I can't wait to see what everyone else is creating!

Yeah! We've been shopping..... Got new swim suits!! and clothes 'acceptable' to cruise dinner wear. DD8 had to have a black/white suit! Couldn't have any other thing so what do parents do? Drive around town (more than one) to find exactly what the princess wants! Well, I found one at good ol' Wally world. I'm not tellin' her tho because her birthday is Tuesday the 19th and I'm going to surprise her. I also bought some cute baby doll shirts and found some Disney Tinkerbell t-shirts on clearance at Wally world so I picked them up too. Gee, you think a 9 year-old would appreciate clothes? ..I will tell you... NOT EVEN FOR A CRUISE!! She's gonna want toys-- stuffed - electronic-dressed--undressed--doesn't matter.. Just toys!!
<sigh> Guess Wally's gonna get some more of my money!!

No, don't let anyone else's designs stop you from designing!! I designed large format banners for my company for 12 years so I have a few tricks up my sleeve. But let me tell you from experience, when it comes to designing- sometimes doing it for a long time jades your designs and new ideas are much better. So I say design away so we can see some new innovative designs! I love looking at others ideas. Makes me realize just how jaded I am...

Yes, I am now a victim. Zazzle cut my designs also. I guess I spoke too soon. Although I did fire off an email to them letting them know where I got my images. At a user designated area on a Disney site. So maybe they will reinstate..but don't hold yur breath!

So... instead I uploaded them to my photobucket-- we know that will work!! I also will work on some designs all my own to satisfy Zazzle so we don't have to worry about $$ for a button machine. No reason why we can't have our cake and eat it too!!

So on to better pasture... I know there is some greener grass around here somewhere... where's the septic tank?

Plus, I think the word pornographic in this context is just wrong. Think they'll let me use the Last Supper?

Do you think they'd let you use the head of Venus herself? I found a pic of just her head (a closeup). Do a google search of the birth of venus -- Yes, I will admit I am not culturally(sp?) active. I am a downright dufus! Call me the redneck of culture!! I had to look it up to see exactly what it was. As soon as I did I recognized it but ...sheesh.

On a Zazzle note... they did reply to my email I sent them in reply to their design removal announcement: This is the main idea: "In both cases, you are not allowed commercial rights - which is what is necessary for Zazzle to produce your products for you. If you would like to use these images, you would need to procure both Disney and the Disney Experience's permission to use the material. If you are able to get permission, we would be more than happy to produce a private order for you."

I wouldn't stress too much about the Zazzle restrictions. Anything we have will be way more fun that what the folks who haven't been part of this meet have.

We used to own a video production business and I can understand the challenge Zazzle has. What an individual can do is totally different than what a commercial enterprise can do. The key difference is that while an individual can use the image, Zazzle would PROFIT from the use of the image which is totally different. They really don't want to have to defend a copyright infringment lawsuit so they're erring on the side of caution.

LauraBearz, I really love the idea of buttons since we can wear them all week. It would also be great if someone could use a label maker to print out names for us to stick to our buttons. I forget names so easily that it really helps to be able to look at someone's name tag or read their name on their button.

Hope everyone has gotten their summer off to a good start. I'm on vacation starting last night. A whole week without WORK. Yipee!!!!! DD gets home tomorrow and we get to spend the week shopping and planning her wedding. Hmmm, maybe that should be

OK! so I am a glutton for punishment!

I have submitted two more designs on Zazzle and this time I have no Disney graphics but I do have the word Disney and a generic outline of mickey ears. Let's hope these go through. We'll know in 24 hours.

I have updated my button links in my signature to reflect these two new ones.

We did try the new link Laura had created but just couldn't seem to get it to work. Sometimes things just don't work out. DD8 just has not been too big on posting although she did post about her b-day coming on this Tues! She's pretty excited about getting close to a double-digit birthday (she turns 9 this year). Wow... I wish I could get excited about double-digit b-days. Nowadays it feels like my b-days are 3-digit!!!!!

It's a poll of the ages of the kids in your party. I was toying with the idea of making little gift bags (nothing big, just a little something) and thought age ranges would be helpful, and I am too lazy to check the first post (plus a lot listed on that post, DONT POST, so I figures a poll of active posters would be helpful.

You can vote in more than on selection. So for me I have a 4, 6, and 8 year old... I selected 4-7 TWO and 8-11 ONE... it should make sense once you see it.

WoW! I guess it's been a while since I've posted ... things have just been crazy with the end of the school year and start of the summer. DS8 broke his wrist the first week of summer - so no swimming for 4 weeks I am not sure what we will do to survive this Arizona summer now!

Well, I will probably be posting more often ... now that we have paid the cruise in full, booked our flights, rented a car for before and after the cruise, and made hotel reservations for the two nights before and two nights after the cruise Now, I feel like I can really start planning

A couple of questions for everybody: How dressed up do you get for Formal, Semi-formal, and pirate nights? Do you coordinate your families outfits for the whole trip or just a couple of nights? DH is giving me a bad time about wanting to coordinate all of our outfits - but, maybe I can do it without him really knowing

Woot Welcome back! yay!!! I think we are going all out on formal night and I will rent a tux for DH to wear. Pirate night tottally decked out to!

For the other nights I do try and coordinate how we look, since I like to get the fancy photos done and I like to look like a coheasive group (or however you spell it lol) It just makes for nice pictures. We dont all MATCH, we blend and most certainally dont CLASH which I can't say is true for real life

I'm making no plans for special coordination although I will ask both kids and spouses to dress nicely, probably in solid color tops so we can get a family picture of all of us for our Christmas card. I'm thinking on the white background where colors show up really well.

For formal night, I'll either wear a short velvet dress or palazzo pants and a glittery top. I've lost 15 lbs (wooo-wooo) since the last time I cruised and hope to lose maybe 5 more before the trip so what I wear may depend on what fits. FYI, I'll be the one who DOESN'T clean her plate. I LIKE shopping for 12s and 14s instead of 16s and 18s.

HayesFamily - on our last cruise, for formal night we saw folks totally decked out and some in just "Sunday clothes" (read that what "used" to be considered Sunday clothes - not the jeans and shirts that are OK now). We also saw some folks in "cruise casual" that were a little more casual than I would have worn.

This time I asked them exactly what is licensed on my newest buttons because 100% of the designs I created..from scratch. I did not copy from any image unless it would be the outline of the Mickey ears... but that I even drew myself - I did not even use a template.

Hopefully they will tell me what I am using so I can adjust the design. They do respond to questions so I am holding until they get me some info.

I shall not be beaten!!!
