October 5, 2008 Wonder Cruise!

sorry to hear about your husband. Good that your mom can go on such short notice. countdown is on.

anyone want to meet around 3:30 on the upper deck above the mickey pool? There's a wide space there and we can be out of the way of the walkway but still meet and greet? Plus I can hand out green mickey's then!

:cool1: Single digit dance! Anyone want to join in? I hope after tomorow's injection I will be able to dance but the wheelchair and cane are coming on this trip too! Annmarie

Nothing wrong with canes! We'll be bringing ours just in case, better to have them and not need them then the other way.

By the way - got a waterproof jacket for my Canon Powershot!!!

I'm up for that. How does that fit into the drill and the sent off party? I don't know the schedule for those.

Also - when is Formal Night?

We started packing today. I'm hoping to pull something together for Pirate night, but I'm not sure if it will come together.

Another question....if we have early dining, then we want to see Toy Story, will we still be able to go to the Pirates party, or do they happen at he same time?

I usually do WAY more planning for my trips, but moving in late summer really threw me off. Now I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed.

I don't have anything planned for Nassau. I was just thinking of taking it easy - maybe a short trip to the Straw Market and one other thing. Anyone else doing a short self-guided tour? I've seen some posts about the Pirate Museum, would that be a good choice, or is there something else we should go see?

according to most navigators the boat drill is at 4 or so. The send off party is after that. So if we meet at 3:30 we will have had time to get on the boat and settled in our rooms (1:30) and can meet long enough to say hello and get to our stations. Once the send off party starts everyone will want to be with their families and not break away to meet.

I'm good with that! Hopefully Bob will still have his wedding ears on! :teeth:

I don't believe there is a formal night on the four night. But I'm going to bring my formal wear for Palo.

As for Nassau, we are just planning on walking around, Looking at knock off Coach Purses and seeing what all the fuss is about those rum cakes. :confused3

Hey everyone ! We leave tomorrow night for Florida...:cool1: We're almost packed -- we have sooo much stuff between a week at WDW, then the cruise. I'm planning on going through the luggage again to take some stuff out. I'm trying to think "minimalist" - yeah, right. :rolleyes1 Also, I'm still trying to decide if we're going to dress up for Pirate night -- packing clothes and knee high boots all the way to FL to wear for a couple of hours is hard to justify... Oh well, we'll see how I feel in the morning.

I'll PM my info to Ursula about the FE stuff. I'll have a laptop on the trip, so I will be able to check email and the DISboards while at WDW...:surfweb:

I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone !!! See ya soon !

Aloha -- keahi

Safe travels and see you onboard!

Looks like our plans may change a bit. My DH is more than likely going to stay home and work and my Mom is going to go with us on the cruise. It will be her first and we are so excited. I called DCL and they said we could change one passenger up to the day before the cruise for only $36. Has anyone done the Dolphin Encounter at Nassau? Disney is booked, but I called them direct today and they said they still had a spot or two available. Just wondering if it was worth the trouble.

Glad to hear you were able to change your reservation. Sorry DH has to stay behind. The company I work for moved the date the 2009 budget has to be submitted from November to September 30 and then last week, the system crashed and they moved the due date to October 6!! I told my boss I won't be bringing my laptop this trip! Sorry! I did that one year when we went to WDW and it was the worst trip I've ever had!

Sounds good to me! By the way, I was at Walmart today and they had women's Hanes lime green t-shirts for $3 and I bought one!! :thumbsup2

Thanks for your note. I'm just looking forward t this trip! Where did you get the waterproof jacket for your phone?

I think Golden Mickey's is the "dress up" night and that is Sunday night. We were planning to do the Pirate Museum in Nassau but have heard that Nassau was a bit disgusting by friends who were on a recent cruise so we are going to decide once onboard.

We are planning to dress up on Pirate Night. We did it on the 2006 DVC Member Cruise and had a blast!! Toy Story should not interfere with Pirate night but I wish they switched the variety show around with Pirate Night. I kind of wish we were doing MNSSHP at WDW after the cruise. We had fun when we did that.

We have not started packing yet but have the suitcases out and started going through clothes that need to go to the dry cleaner for the trip. I am moving everything that we are planning to bring with us to the front of the closet. We are going to try to get away with just taking 2 carry-ons and 1 checked bag especially since US Airways charges for checked bags now.

Any way, sorry for the long post. I am getting excited for this trip and can't wait to meet everyone.

Annmarie

i'm thinking LGMH = lime green mickey head

At least i hope so.

sshaw10060 you've been added to the list.

ahibird/keahi - did you want to be on the fish extenders list? I hadn't received a PM from you but saw it mentioned in a previous post.

This time next week we'll be party harty with the sail away gang. i've finally organized all my magnets and now just have to go get them printed. i think it's figuring out to be cheaper to get them printed at Office Depot than printing them myself. We've got a higher end photo printer and the ink alone that the magnets would eat up is twice what it is online to go get them printed. So hopefully I can load them onto a thumb drive and drop them off at the first of the week.

?!#(@(?#*!, the magnets! I knew I forgot something! :headache:

A week from now we will be cruising!!! Yeah!! 3:30 on deck is fine with me but isn't the lifeboat thing at 4:00? Question about fish extenders. Have we decided whether we are doing 1 family gift or every day little things? Just trying to get some ideas going. My mom is so excited. She never dreamed she would ever get to take a cruise. She is asking about clothing. Last year we dressed up for formal night, and it seemed we were the only ones except for the people getting family portraits done. It was pirate night too. Is Sunday dress, what is expected for formal night?
Can't wait to meet everyone! See you Sunday.

so far 8 families, 9 rooms, 10 children, 25 people total participating. Depending on your budget it would decide how you will distribute your "gifts".

So how do you do a fish extender? DW and DS and I would like to get in on the meet and greet but don't know what is required to participate. Plus what is the green Mickey's? I can't believe it is less that 6 days away from being on the greatest ship on the high seas!!! Can't wait. Oh boy do I have alot of cleanning and packing to do!!! Agh:scared1:

post 428 talks about fish extenders (FE) and has some gift ideas and etiquette.

Lime green is the color of DIS. So some people have been known to wear lime green shirts in the parks or a ribbon on a lanyard. The mickey heads are fairly small and make a nice magnet addition to decorate a door and show that you post/participate on the DIS boards.

...so a little birdy just called me and told me to check the cruise itin. :teeth: As of now, we have two days at Castaway Cay!!! (I do have a call into the cruise line - they are telling me it might be an error because we can't book shore excursions for that day yet.)
So everyone cross your fingers!!!
