October 5, 2008 Wonder Cruise!

at the member cruise last year we were able to meet up on the upper deck around the family pool. we chose 3pm because by then everyone had settled in their room, it was before the lifeboat drill and sendoff party. By 3 usually everyone is onboard.

just a thought. i could bring extra green mickey heads for cabin doors if anyone wants one.

This would work for me! Anyone else?

I am Tammy and will be travelling with my DH, 10 yr. old DD and 11 yr. old DS. This is our second Disney Cruise. Last year was the first. Our son has Down syndrome, and this cruise is his Wish. An organization here in Orlando grants wishes to children who will not have a normal life expectancy, so here we are. My son loves everything Disney. We have had annual passes until this year. My parents always bought them, but they retired and can't afford them anymore. We are in Cat.9 on Deck 2. Last cruise we were on the 7th floor in an inside room at the front of the ship. We went through a gale the last night and it was horrible. I threw up all night and I don't get sick. This time we heard the lower the better and the back is better than the front. So we are trying that. We can't wait! My DD is on the Disney web site all the time looking at things she missed last time that she wants to make sure and do this time. This board is great. We have learned a lot. Thank you, Tammy

Last year we had a really great server at Palo's. My DH just loved him because he recommended a dish and DH loved it so Fortune got him more. My DH is still talking about how good that dish was. He also asked if we could request him again if he is still sailing with Wonder. Have any of you ever requested a server and was the request met? Also, we will be Castaway Club members this time. What does that mean? I know we are suppose to have a special area to check-in, but heard there is more. Just curious. We will definately bring the kids pillowcases to get signed. That is a great idea we found on the boards. Finally, last time we didn't spend much time on Nassau, my DD and I just walked to the first couple of streets and bought sunglasses. Is there anything fun to do that doesn't cost much money?

Hello! My boyfriend and I will be joining everyone on this cruise! Thank God I found this site otherwise I would have missed out on all the reservations that I needed to get. I've been on a cruise to Alaska and I remember you could make all the reservations on the day you board so I thought the same was true for this. I was very wrong. However I managed to get everything and I'm sure it will all work out.

Anyway, a little about us: I'm Courtney,23, and my boyfriend is Doug, 23. We are from Seattle, Wa. I grew up in California and was a big believer in the original Disneyland being better because it was first. A little stubborn part of me still believes that, but I understand that Disney World is a whole other World. I finally went for the first time last year and I am glad that I experienced Disneyland first, other wise I would have just been disappointed.

Doug has been often and is an alum of the Disney College Program. This is both of ours first Disney Cruise.

We will be celebrating our third anniversary of dating on October 2nd while at the theme parks. I'm really excited, and am having a hard time sleeping!

:welcome: Courtney and Doug  also congratulations on celebrating your third anniversary. Glad to see more people joining us. You should enjoy DCL. As far as making reservations in advance, there are usually some available when you get onboard but we have always booked in advance so that we didn't have to wait in line once onboard. Palo for lunch and dinner fill up fast especially for the day at sea.

This will be our third cruise and I can't even remember the number of times we have been to WDW. I would love to plan a trip to CA in a few years. I was out there for business 17 years ago and just have never made it back. We would also love to do an Alaskan cruise. I have several friends from work who have gone and loved it.

:welcome: aboard Tammy and family. There are several children who will be on this cruise. That's so nice that you are able to go on this cruise through WISH. I have heard great things about the organization. Annmarie

Forgot to answer this one too. On our last cruise I know a couple who requested a server in the main dining room and got it. You could always call DCL now and ask or once onboard, you may want to go to the main desk to see if this is do-able.

We haven't decided what we are going to do in Nassau yet but are thinking about the Pirate Museum. Unfortunately, I don't recall the cost.

School starts back tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so ready for the kids to go back. They are at each others' throats all day long.

I also wanted to say welcome aboard to the new cruisers with us. I am Patty and I will be cruising with my DS11 (Sean) and DD5 (Dani) and I hope my boyfriend Kevin will be able to go with us.

Two months, 1 day left!!!

Hi again Patty! I must say I'm a little jealous your children are going back to school. My DS graduated college in May and is living just outside of Philadelphia. :sad1: I sometimes wish he was little again so that I could have him close by, especially since he is my only one! Annmarie

THanks for all the welcomes! We are so excited.

Wow, I thought we went back to school early. My dd (10) starts back next Thursday. The public schools go back on the 18th. I am definately ready for them to go back to school. The only thing I am dreading is my DS will be riding the bus to and from school for the first time this year. It's hard to let go.

The Alaskan cruise was really nice, but definitely for the older crowd. I was 18 when I went with my father. I didn't mind the alone time so it wasn't too bad for me, but they definitely didn't have the teen friendly activities that they do on DCL. There was only one other person that was around my age. Since I live in Washington now I think I will go again and take advantage of all the things you could do as an adult.

It was so nice and quiet here today!!! Now are we cruising yet?

We are at the two month mark! :yay: :cheer2:

Hi all,

I haven't posted for a while so I thought I would stop by and see what was going on.

I'd like to say welcome to all the new faces and first time cruisers who are joining our "Wonder"-ful cruise.

Switching gears here, I was just "Wonder"-ing if anyone knows who our Captain will be on our cruise. Up until last year my DW and I have always cruised with Captain Henry, (3 times). Our last cruise we had the pleasure sailing with Captain John, (1 time). Both are great guys.

Switching gears again...

I've made reservations for my DW and me at Palo for Monday night and for brunch on Wednesday. We'll also be doing the wine tasting. If you haven't done the wine tasting you should try it. It's very casual and lots of fun... especially if they open the Champaign bottle using a Champaign glass!

Have a great evening everyone...

We've only cruised twice and had Captain Henry both times as well. Our cruise director was Christian and he was very entertaining. How expensive is the wine tasting? Is that something you reserve onboard or ahead of time? We are also having brunch at Palo on Wednesday at 10:30AM. Annmarie

We have one in public and one in private school. Youngest DD (13) started back this past Monday. Oldest DD (15) starts on the 14th. Both have different calendars. Youngest has the cruise week off from school for Fall break. Oldest doesn't but is allowed to take personal days from school.

We had Captain John on the Member cruise last October and Christian as the cruise director. Our waiter was Caesar.

My last cruise was with Captain Henry and Christian  (but we won't go there!) and the server I forgot because it was almost three years ago...
I agree that Captain Henry was wonderful - for some reason our group caught him in the hallway and he chatted with us for about a half hour. As for Christian... :faint: (I'm almost a married spud, I'm almost a married spud!)

I'm still trying to fit in the wine tasting...I know DF won't go for it, but he'd go for the beer tasting. Depends on our time in Nassau - I think they are the same day?

So in case anyone wants to say hi when we are all waiting to board the ship...Bob and I will be in these!

The hats are adorable. Did you buy them or make them? We definitely won't miss you at PC.

8 weeks from today we will be boarding the Wonder. I can't wait for this trip to get here. I really need a vacation. Annmarie
