October 31, 2009

I just wanted to add more information to my post. I am not sure if this is the correct way to do it so please forgive if I am incorrect.
Bdette cabin 707 category 10

DW - bdette Bernadette
DH - Tim
DS - Josh age 9 ( at sailing)
DD - Julia age 6 ( at sailing)
I look forward to reading all our information and planning for a great cruise!

***The following information can also be found on the Disney Cruise Meets under October 31, 2009. I posted this list here just in case any cruisers haven't made it over to that site yet. Please PM me if you have any additions or changes to this list.

Ok, here is our "Roll Call" list that I have put together between posts here and PMs that I have received. I will update this list as I receive information from people.

I am including the following information about each family: screen name, where you are from, members of the family including names and ages of children at sailing if you wish and cabin number if you are participating in the fish extender.
***Please do not feel obligated to share any information that you don't wish to. This is all for "fun," of course, as well as getting to know our fellow cruisers before we set sail.
"Jaime" suggested that the cabin numbers and personal information be kept "private" if people choose this option. This is perfectly fine!!! I can keep track of those people who wish to participate in the fish extender activity but do not wish to have their personal information posted on line. I will simply post your screen name under confirmed participants. As the time gets closer, I will send a group PM to those participants with all of the pertinent information in order to participate.
***I prefer if you would PM any information that needs to be included and/or updated rather than put it in this post!

The following is a list of CONFIRMED participants in the fish extender activity: If you have changed your mind in participating, please let me know so that I can update this list.

Well I finaly have made it to the end of the thread. Welcome to all who have signed up for the cruise. Thanks to Queenie16 :worship: for all of your work on the roster. With all of us NJ people sailing we should just charter our own plane and go down together.

So far our family is planing a walking on our own tour of KW, Myself and DS hope to go diving in GC but I do not know if we should go through Disney or out on our own. :confused3 any sugestions, DS will be a new diver so I am not looking for anything too chalanging.

Well I will have to stop back more often.

Some just suggested charting a flight, and that got me thinking....
I don't want to organize this, because I don't want the responsibility, but....
How many NJers are we really? Continental (Newark hub) has group rates and perks for groups of 10+ and even more for 20+ people.
My family alone is 6 people.
As long as it is not one person paying for the group and everyone having to pay them back (to risky if you ask me), and we all pay separately, could we save some serious cash with this?
Anyone want to try and call continental or a travel agent and get some info on this?
Since it is available for just 10 people, 2 to 3 families covers it.
I won't be offended if everyone says no, I know it is a bit odd for a bunch of strangers to be doing this together. I myself would be a little concerned if someone else wrote the post.

bdette and suzieqmomof4:
your information for fish extender participation has been updated
Thank you for contacting me!

If anyone else is interested in being added to our roll call or fish extender activity, please PM me. Thank you.

I might be interested in doing the fish extender but am not really sure how it works or where to get one. If someone can send me a link that explains it i would greatly apprecite it. Thanks

Hi Michelle...

Maybe this will help
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1219607

We just brought some small items and put them in everyones extenders different times throughout the cruise that way everyone was always recieving a little something...we gave candy that we can only get here in Canada and pirate theme goodies...we recieved lots of stuff...bookmarks with our girls names on them...candy...glow bracklets...princess stuff...door magnets...etc...

This site has ideas on it...
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1774643

It is just for fun...we also found the fish extender good for leaving notes to each other...you could use anything as a fish extender...there is a lady DSPARKS here on DIS who does a wonderful job making them and sells them on ebay...

Wow...it's been pretty busy over here lately...

Have a great day all:banana:

We walked to the southernmost point. It was a long walk for the kids. They did it, but it was longer than they were happy with it. It was also a hot day when we went. Key West has many places that rent these cute little electric cars that look like golf carts. I think we might get one next time. They aren't cheap though. I can't really say how long it was time wise to walk there, since we stopped, rested, and had ice cream along the way. DH guesses it was about 2 miles in each direction. On the flip side, like you said, we did see more walking, and my kids still talk about seeing roosters walking in the streets there. I guess it depends on your kiddies, mine are kind of used to mom's ideas of vacation (DH still refers to our last trip to WDW as The Forced March :rotfl2: ). It might be good to walk one way and cab it the other way.

Smith's Cove was a little too far to walk. We took a cab there, but he didn't come back, and there were no others around to take us back so we had to walk back. It's not far by cab, it's just too long to walk with young kids. It was a nice enough beach, but small and dropped off fairly quickly. I think it was more for locals. The bathrooms were icky. I wasn't that impressed with the island tour. Hell was really no big deal, small and a total tourist trap, and the butterfly house was just OK for us. The kids really liked the turtle farm though.

Thanks for the info...we were thinking about the turtle farm...was there a beach there? I looked on there website and it sounds like it is all man made pools??

The electric cars sound neat in Key West!

Hi all –

Just thought I better pop in here and introduce myself to Halloween Haunts Cruisers. DH, John and I will be joining you on this little adventure, although we aren’t from New Jersey (Virginia Natives here) so I wonder if it’s okay LOL. This will be our second cruise, our first being a 4-day this upcoming October. Yes I have booked the second and haven’t even gone on the first :lmao: When I saw this cruise starting on Halloween day one and with day two being my birthday there was no way we weren’t booking :cool1: :cool1:

Look forward to getting to know everyone here on the Dis and later on the ship.

Welcome aboard! What a great way to spend your b-day :goodvibes

Jaime, thanks so much for the information. I am going to read through it tonight.

Renysmom I am not from NJ either. We are from NY. Very close to NJ.

I am starting to get so excited seeing everyone by time the cruise comes we should all be really good friends.

Welcome to Renysmom always glad to have one more.

Queenie, could I sugest that you add a head count to the roll call for the fish extenders, Right now I have 15 adults and 13 kids. I know it would help me in thinking of what to bring. Once again thank you :worship: for handeling this.

Another thing for us NJ sailors, I have looked into (although briefly) into a group air fair. My travel agent said that although you only need 10-15 people to be a group, often you get better air rates on your own.:confused3 It appears that the only advantage to being a group is that you get to sit all together on the plain, and it makes it easier to drop out or change one or two people. Any way there is nothing that we can do untill 11 months out anyway. I will look into it a bit moer then. I guess all we can do now is wait. :rolleyes1 My DW and 3 DD leave for WDW on Friday, while I and DS head to Boy Scout Camp for a week.

Hey suzieqmomof4 --

Thanks for your suggestion of doing a head count. I will have to get a pencil and paper to do it though! I quite enjoy handling this and look forward to hearing from more people, even if they simply want to be added to our roll call. May I suggest that we decide as a group as to how we want to handle the actual fish extender exchange as the time grows closer. Do we want to do a "per person" or "per family" exchange? Just something to think about. Please bounce back whatever ideas you have or may have worked for you. Thanks for your support!

Welcome:cool1:

I'm Jaime...right now I am travelling with my dh Glen and our two dd's ages 5 & 7...we are from the east coast of Canada.

Halloween Haunts Cruisers...I love it! What a cute group name!

Wow a birthday onboard! How much fun that will be...

Thanks Susan!!

It would love to have the opportunity do per person fish extender gifts...especailly for the children...

However we did smaller generic gifts for our fish extenders but every family brought one $10 gift representing where they were from(might be hard this time though since everyone is from NJ;) ) Then at our meet we all drew names out of a hat and exchange our gifts...each family got a little something...That was alot of fun too...a great way to meet everyone we were talking to online for a year.

Well I'm not quiet sure what this next year will bring for my family and if we can cruise next year...if we do I have a feeling a few of my family members will be joining us too now and our friends who were cruising the week after will probably switch to our cruise. My dd 6 has been having headaches and we got some bad news this week...so now we are waiting to see how they can help her. We still plan on taking her on DCL we just might have to switch our cruise dates...
