October 31, 2009

As you can see from the "shipmates" list, there are only two of us on the cruise. That means that we will be placed with strangers for dining. We were lucky on our first cruise and sat with some really nice people. However, we may not be lucky again. Is there anyone out there with the late seating that would be interested in having some fellow DISers at your table?

....in relation to your question. Ok...(January 2009 while on the Disney Wonder)....I, like you was placed at a 8 top with complete strangers and on the 1st evening, everyone was trying to be on their best behavior. Well - here comes "little ol me" ( :rolleyes1 ): and next thing you know, I have everyone just a laughing and having a gold ol time. Little did I realize that there were two DISmeets people sitting just 3 tables away from us...all by themselves. They see that we are enjoying ourselves and next thing you know, they ask ME if THEY could sit with us!:goodvibes - of course I didn't mind that request so they went back through their waiter and got everything all changed in time for the next evening. This is a Disney cruise and yes, I will have my Margarita with my evening meal, but I can assure anyone who wants to sit with me/us or near our 8-top table (Since I also have 2nd seating dining), that the overall objective remains the same...to have some Disney fun and enjoy some excellent food at the same time.
Postscript: those 2 people who requested to sit with me and the rest of us?? Well....we e-mail each other nightly:goodvibes as she is my DISmeets friend - she is the one who I am working on crafting (oops!! there is that word again) one magical experience for her when when has a pre-day at PORS (Water view) Jan 22nd before she heads off on her 7-day cruise vacation. We also send to each other post cruise FE gift boxes....she's even working on sending me one for this cruise. :cool2: Will tell ya more if ya want......at 2nd seating dining cuz its amazing what I, Tink and company can create for people.....one fantasmic experience while at WDW:cloud9: &:woohoo: .
So in short, please read my DCL pre trip report (for Oct. 2009) and or my Jan 2009 WDW / DCL trip report......and yes...after reading it...if ya still feel ok...welll then go back through your waiter and or Guest Services and make the request to change tables and you are set , ready to go.
I am a bundle of energy and on the go a lot and yes, I wouldn't mind you two at our table. :) So if this is something ya want, here is another suggestion: Call whomever set up your ressie and or call DCL call center and have them note in your comments section, "Guest reqs to be seated at cabin #XXXX's dining table for 2nd seating dining."

Count us in for the meet and greet. Just let us know when and where it is. I don't think we have a preference. Just not during anything cool that we could miss. Does 4am sound good :rotfl2:

Example: So far - we have ideas of: 3pm on day one
(location?): TBA

- Kris

I prefer the 3 PM on day one. I know that none of my crew will be able to do a 9:30 or late evening with the kids. Also, I'd love the chance to meet that first day so that I can chat with you guys as I see you the rest of the week. Just my $.02 worth. :) How about the Promenade Lounge that first day? It's easy to get to and open enough for all of us, I think.

We'd love to have you at our table if we can't get in the early seating. We're waiting for that. We had late seating last time, but this time, the kids really want to eat earlier - when the kids' clubs are eating - so that they don't miss anything! :)

LOL! I think I will pass on the 4 AM, Jeff ..... the cool thing that I don't want to miss at that time is ... sleep. ;)

I've gotten a great response to the lanyards so far. I know it will grow as the cruise gets closer!

What I am most looking forward to?

The look on my girls' faces when they actually figure out we are going on a cruise. We are trying to keep this trip a complete surprise until that Sat morning when they actually see the Magic. We had such an awesome time on the EB Panama Canal cruise last summer that I couldn't resist booking this trip once I saw that we all have the same week off of school!

Oh, how fun, Patty!!!! How old are your girls? My kids would have it figured out as soon as we got to PC or the area. I could never keep that from them just because they know too much! LOL!

The girls will be 5 and 8 at that time of the trip. We will be flying into Orlando very late Friday night and staying at the Radisson at the port. I am hoping they sleep between the airport and hotel, and don't ask too many questions. I have stopped telling everyone about the trip in fear they would find out, so I now need to post secretly on the DIS boards and count on my DIS friends to gain excitement with me.

Oh, that's just so neat. Yeah, at that age, you can pull it off. My (almost) 13 yo would figure it out in a heartbeat. My 3 1/2 yo may even .... they are both just too smart for their own good. LOL!!! Or for mine!

Don't forget to send me info if you want in on the lanyards for the group.

***** Lanyards....

I may be looking into the 'passporter' type pocket holder. Would that be ok with everyone???

Here's an example ....

http://store.kennyproducts.com/serv...ted-Tradeshow-Badge-Holder-fdsh-Travel/Detail

I don't think we'll have an issue at all getting 100 folks. For the price, I think these are great. I can also have our cruise name printed on the front. I would have them done in black with orange imprints.

FEEDBACK??????? (Please????? :flower3: )

I'm surprising mine too. DS will be 8 and DD will be 6. I hope I can keep it a secret!!!!

I would love to meet everyone on the first day too if possible. Late nights will be tough. My little one (6) gets tired early.

Great to hear form you, Pam. I will be looking for the PM. Don't forget the info that I need. :)

John and I both looked at the example and we really like them. Would they be too big for the kids though? John thought maybe the length on a small body would be bothersome..

I don't think so in the times that they would be using them. My dd for example (will be 4), and she'd probably only wear it off-ship for excursions or what-not. It would be fine for my 13 yo, though, because he's almost as big as I am! Since I don't give the KTTW card to my youngest, she won't use either one on the ship. The neck strap on this one *IS* adjustable. The ones on the regular lanyards *are not*.

....wow...surprising your chidlren - they oughta just pop with excitment once they know :) .
Ok....gotta ask....is anyone presenting to Guest Services a pillowcase or a photo mat??? Just curious - I did in January (a photo mat) and it really compliments nicely my pictures.....geesh! I took over 937 pictures...so yup...fair to say we have another DISmeets person who rreeallyy uses his camera.
And that reminds me....if anyone needs an extra pair of hands so they can jump in their family picture, I don't mind taking the picture...just of course I would need to use your camera.

Meet & GREET UPDATE:

We have 8 stateroom cabins who have signed up and yyeess....the offer STILL stands that I will get up there (somewhere in Beat Street) and sing ( & :rotfl2: ) during Karoke night I-F we have 100% cabins participating here;) - so lets get with it and give me a pm, e-mail or just give this site a good ol posting. I tend to gravitate to Garth Brooks songs so.....;)
From what I have been hearing from DCL reps is that trick or treating will be taking place (on Oct. 31st) in between 1st & 2nd seating dining and that there will be Halloween festivities that evening as well (in my opinion) taking place up in and around the Beat Street area at or around the 9pm area on.
I have been contacting my "friends" over at Neverland and Pixiehollow and even they are stumped at to the whats and the wheres when it comes to the evening's activities on the Magic via October 31st. But rest assured once they know, I will be passing it on to all of us asap. I correspond with them on a bi-weekly basis as they are my ears to what's going on at WDW and DCL.
What I do know is that we will be having lots of fun during this time - I have no issue having multiple social gatherings as this is what it is really all about - meeting new people, enjoying great conversations and enjoying all things Disney:earsboy: but I need your input.
So far, the leading "vote getter" is:

Date: October 31st
Where: "Sessions" (deck 3 forward)...just turn right FROM Guest Services and take a left through the elevators...walk down the hallway and into the "Beat Street" area....and off on your left will be "Sessions."
Time: 9pm on....This gives 1st seating dining (w/any children) an opportunity to be sociable at an reasonable time and then around the time frame of 10pm...this will give 2nd seating dining an opportunity to also say "hi." By this time, fair to say that the children would need to get some shut-eye, then the rest of us can decide on where to go so we can all enjoy the nightly Disney activities.
I will be there wearing my Mickey hands ah...so...yyeess...it aughta be very easy to spot me a mile away AND yyeess...I will be in a halloween outfit. It's a simple one....popcorn::
**** The mickey hands will be an easy way to tell all of us where that "this is the meeting place." ****
And that reminds me....lets all please be sure a wear your colors one day as I plan on wearing my Cowboy blue....just hope Romo and Jessica cut it out so we can start winning again:laughing:

P.S. Jnadelman: you made a reference to, "just as long as the m&g isn't at 4am....."...oopps! That's what time I go jogging up on deck 4 - its real quiet during that time - just completly pitch black to the right of you and you can hear the rain off in the distance but you can't see it. You can hear thunder but where? you hear lightning but where? TRY looking off on your right during that time THEN look at what's in front of you on deck 4....:upsidedow . That would wake ANYONE up.

ok - it's been real
C-YA!

Since so many of us are photography lovers, I have decided to host a photowalk on the ship...

Join me as we watch andphotograph the sunrise as we pull into the Grand Caymans. We will meet at 7:00 AM at the drink station (so everyone can grab their morning coffee/tea/soda) and then tour the almost empty deck, taking pictures, sharing stories and seeing the sunrise..

If you arrive in your PJ's we won't care, but be aware we will have camera's LOL

:sad1: ... if you do it at 9 PM, I can tell you that you'll be safe on karoke night because we can't be there at that time. :confused3 Just FYI ... we had late seating last time, and I, personally, would find it almost impossible to get anywhere at 9 because dinner usually took until at least 9:30 each night.
