Little story I wanted to share...
My DS's teacher told me that she was talking about different cultures in class. She told a story about a boy who's dad was jewish and mom was from Mexico and the boy decided to combine the two cultures and make a jalopeno bagel. (I think that is how the story went). ANYWAY... the writing assigment after the story was to write about your parents culture. My DS obviously was not clear what culture was as his response was:
"my mom's culture is Disney World". :rotfl2:

Drumroll......

We are ready to announce what Shell and I have been working on.......

Ready

Ready

Ready

We now have our own chat room

We hope that by scheduling regular chats we will get to know everyone better and really get the planning going..

We are going to do a test chat tomorrow (Saturday) at 7:30 pm est.. This will be our "test" chat, we want to make sure everything is working.

Everyone is welcome to attend!!!

If you want to join in please pm either me or Shell (Ntheory) before 5:00pm tomorrow and we will send you the link and directions on how to register and the password. For obvious reasons we don't want to put it up here for public eyes. Please when you get it, go right ahead and register, please don't wait until 7:30(if you can help it) so that if there are registration problems we can walk you through them.

Once we know the room is up and working will be scheduling more of these on a regular basis, we also plan on scheduling some for the kids, monitored of course, so they can make friends prior to the cruise. We will break these into age groups so the little ones aren't in with the teens LOL

Any questions let us know. Hope you are as excited about this as we are!!!

If you arrive in your PJ's we won't care, but be aware we will have camera's LOL

Who is in?

....have camera...glass of coca cola ...hey..I'm set! ....thank you for the open invite:goodvibes .

Hello one & All -

WOW! I can tell we are one great big group:woohoo: and a huge thank you....from the lanyards, picture taking am (Cozumel day) to FE updating of the lists, etc.
Anywho -
Meet & GREET UPDATE:

We have 8 stateroom cabins who have signed up and yyeess....the offer STILL stands that I will get up there (somewhere in Beat Street) and sing ( & ) during Karoke night I-F we have 100% cabins participating here - so lets get with it and give me a pm, e-mail or just give this site a good ol posting. I tend to gravitate to Garth Brooks songs so.....
:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes
And yes......this Meet & Greet even includes 2nd seating dining people.......
:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes
From what I have been hearing from DCL reps is that trick or treating will be taking place (on Oct. 31st) in between 1st & 2nd seating dining and that there will be Halloween festivities that evening as well (in my opinion) taking place up in and around the Beat Street area at or around the 9pm area on.
I have been contacting my "friends" over at Neverland and Pixiehollow and even they are stumped at to the whats and the wheres when it comes to the evening's activities on the Magic via October 31st. But rest assured once they know, I will be passing it on to all of us asap. I correspond with them on a bi-weekly basis as they are my ears to what's going on at WDW and DCL.
What I do know is that we will be having lots of fun during this time - I have no issue having multiple social gatherings as this is what it is really all about - meeting new people, enjoying great conversations and enjoying all things Disney but I need your input as I feel it is proper to "go with" what the majority are wishing. So if we have more input...........
But with 8 cabins so far,
the leading "vote getter" is:

Date: October 31st
Where: "Sessions" (deck 3 forward)...just turn right FROM Guest Services and take a left through the elevators...walk down the hallway and into the "Beat Street" area....and off on your left will be "Sessions."
Time: approx 9pm on....This gives 1st seating dining (w/any children) an opportunity to be sociable at an reasonable time and then around the time frame of 10pm...this will give 2nd seating dining an opportunity to also say "hi." By this time, fair to say that the children / teenagers would need to get some shut-eye, then the rest of us can decide on where to go so we can all enjoy the nightly Disney activities.
Per se,
I plan on leaving my 2nd seating dining room table early so I can make it up to the Sessions area by approx 9pm & say hi to no doubt many people with children/ teenagers. And that's perfectly ok with me as I will be there wearing my Mickey hands ah...so...yyeess...it aughta be very easy to spot me a mile away AND yyeess...I will be in a halloween outfit. It's a simple one....
**** The mickey hands will be an easy way to tell all of us where that "this is the meeting place." ****
I will continue to be up in the Sesions area, saying "Hi" to the 2nd seating diners who will no doubt begin to trickle in at or around 10pm time frame. It is at approx 10:30pm that I feel that it is wise to wrap up the M&G and begin to unwind a little further enjoying the night Disney activities that DCL has in store for us that night. This is where the majority rules and if they "all" wanna go to say Rockin D..well that's where I plan on being....just enjoying the night with my fellow DISsers and enjoy great conversation and wonderful Disney entertainment.
Now sure, if anyone just wants to pop in for a quick "hi and bye!" well...that's ok with me. If anyone wants to leave early and attend a DCL activity, again - no problem.
The intent here is to be fair to 1st and 2nd seating dining DISsers as we all enjoy this great big ol boat of DCL's. The reason for 9pm on ...is some people may not want to attend the approx 8:15pm theatre show while some may...so I understand that this might not get "underway" until approx 9:30pm "ish" which is perfectlty ok. This is why the times listed are approximate as DCL won't say just yet what is going on that night and where....etc.
Should there be anyone who just feels uncomfortbale / nervous for any reason being in a large group or just hates going by themselves - be it this night or any other...well - look no further as ya got us:goodvibes

P.S. I am decorating my stateroom door - anyone else??

Come on, everyone!! This is going to be fun, and it will help all of us have a special bond when we get on the boat. :)

I will be decorating my door. Some of the magnets will change daily.

Kris - I may be in the minority but I am not sure this will work for us or for many cruising...

A majority of the group has little ones and this is going to be a LONG day for them and their parents (yes I remember having little ones LOL) and with all that happens the day of embarkation and add halloween/trick or treating in, plus the adult Halloween activities they will be having (I am assuming this based on the last two years worth of Navigators for 10/31) I am not sure a 9:00 pm meet on the first night works for many.

Can I also suggest we don't use the adults only area for the beginning of this meet-up, it's not fair to those who are traveling with little ones as they can't bring them and chances are they may just be leaving dinner or a show and just want to stop by to say Hi. I would suggest the meet-up be in an "open area" of the ship and then the adults can move on to the adults only area if they wish. Just my thoughts.

Hi everyone!!!! We are also booked on this cruise and are so excited! We are Lorraine, Rich, Ryan, and Kayleigh. Ryan will be 9 and Kayleigh almost 5 when we sail. We are also part of the Jersey week crowd being from Bergen County in NJ. We were on the Sept 1st Hurricane Hannah Double Dip that was not a double dip as we missed our 2nd stop at Castaway Cay to enjoy 25-30 ft. waves out at sea! :scared1: We re-booked while onboard and are excited to have Halloween oboard- my kids are psyched!

We are staying in WDW on the Thursday b/f and will go to MNSSHP and then to the Radisson for the night before (current plan but we may stay at WDW). We were part of the DIS group that was on our other cruise and it was so fun to do the FE's and meet up with other DISer's. We also did lanyards on that cruise and it was a great way to identify each other.

Looking forward to meeting everyone!
Lorraine

I'm with you, Kelly. Sessions and Beat Street are both Adults-Only areas, and I would like for my kids to be in on the meet and greet so that they can meet some of the DIS friends there. I would also like it earlier so that they can hook up with some kids before they head off to their clubs and activities.

How's the Promenade? It's an open, family area.

Welcome Lorraine!!!

I'm Shell, and I'll be cruising with my dh (Mark), ds (Jonah - 13), dd (Jaydin - 4), and dm (Evelyn). Can't wait to meet you and your crew!!

I'm also in charge of the lanyards, so send me your information in a PM if you're interested in getting them. I need screen name, names for name badges, how many you want, mailing address for later, and if you want a zippered badge holder or a non-zippered one.

Great to hear, Bernadette! Can't wait to have you on there with us. When you get a chance, PM one of us (renysmom or me) for instructions to get you signed up. That will save time when we schedule the next chat. :)

I hope the cheer competition goes well tomorrow!!!!!! Let us know how it goes.

OMG the chat while small was so much fun but I think I learned too much about dancing pics, penguins and moose... and I really know what WWW stands for now :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Hope more join us, it was great!!
