OCTOBER 30th & NOVEMBER 3rd Cruises (FE and Meets)

Hi everyone!

On our last cruise, I made name tags for everyone so we could easily identify other DISers on our cruise. I am happy to do this again - I stink at making logos so I might need some help there!

Also, I had thought about putting the FE list on a spreadsheet that everyone could access from google docs. I know Kathy has put together an assume word document that she has mailed out, but wasn't sure if the excel spreadsheet idea would be helpful?

:)

See my last post too. I didn't quote on my last post.

What do you think about "Disney's Halloween Dream October 30 - November 4, 2011" ?

I was debating on telling this but I have the names tags for our DISers taken care of.
I made them as part of my FE gifts. :goodvibes

Spreadsheet in google docs would be nice. I let the kids do alot of the organizing with the FE gifts. They had a great time delivering the goods last time.

Working on my FEs today too, home with a migraine and the work is soothing at least for twenty minute stretches.

I will work on a google excel spreadsheet over the weekend. I have the list that Kathy has sent to me to work from! I am starting to get really excited about the cruise. Of course, I am (attempting) to run the Wine and Dine half marathon on October 1st so I need time to go fast, but not too fast if you know what I mean!

Dagny

I will be cheering for you from home, I just started my movement routine, walking 2 miles most days and hoping to do the Princess 5k in 2012, hoping that I can complete the Castaway 5k as a test jog.

I will run (or walk) it with you :)

Right now a 5k should take me about 55 mins, but I am determined to do it in about 45.

You can do it! It comes a lot quicker than one would expect :) You will be at 45 minutes in no time :) Now doing that four times over causes me to have an anxiety attack, LOL!

I am hoping for that anxiety in 2013, lol.

Wrapping a Disney trip around it does help. My son and started with the Expedition Everest Challenge in May (5K plus Scavenger Hunt). We had so much fun with it that we decided that would be a new mother/son tradition. My daughter is running the 1/2 marathon with me - hopefully that, too, will become a tradition. Of course, she is in a lot better shape than I am ;)

I have put off running my first half and/or full marathon (and training for them) so that my first would be Disney. I would really like to get the Goofy medal.

This will be my first cruise as a Platinum Member. What time do they typically let you board. My family is not Platinum will they allow them to board with me?

Be sure to all check in together, as platinum you get boarding card #1 or #2 depending on what time you get to the terminal. We usually get there between 930-10am, and get #1. DH and I are now both platinum, and DD is gold...last cruise, I was still the only platinum and we all got on with #1. We boarded around 1130am...sometimes it is closer to 12, but you board with concierge. We went to lunch at TS/BBB, and DD was in the pool before anyone...she was in the Mickey pool more than 30 minutes before anyone else.

Hope that helps :-)

2 years ago, I could have never seen myself running in a 5k, let alone a half marathon. In 2010, DD and I completed 12 races (5k's and 10k's). We celebrated that accomplishment by running the WDW half marathon in Jan 2011. We are signed up for 3 more half marathons...Disneyland 9/4/11, WDW Wine & Dine 10/1/11, and WDW half marathon 1/7/12.

DH and I started this journey together because my mom was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer in 11/08. One of thew biggest risk factors for ovarian cancer is obeseity. Since then, I have lost 50#, with another 35 to go. I continue this journey after losing both of my parents in 2010 (Mom, age 62, 6/25/10, and Dad, age 67, 11/9/10). They were young...I am all about reducing my risk factors! The strange thing is my mom's parents are still living, and so is my dad's mom...just lost my 1st grandarent 4 years ago.

I am training again for the DL half marathon. If you haven't checked out the Run Disney website yet, I encourage you to do so. Jeff Galloway, the official trainer for Run Disney, has some great programs and training plans for free on the site. I use his run/walk/run method, and finished my very 1st half marathon WDW 1/2011, with a time of 3:19:07. My goal is to beat that time for Disneyland! I had barely any training in for my 1st half as I had been my dad's caregiver, and had no time or mental energy to train. My longest run all year last year was only 6.2 miles. The 2 months before the half, my longest outing was only 3 miles. I spoke to Jeff at the expo, and he suggested to run my first 3-4 miles at a 20:40 interval. I ended up running the entire distance that way, and finished with a smile, standing upright, and wanting to do another one. Jeff Galloway has some great books out there too...I would suggest picking up his 5k book to start. It is a great motivator, plus gives you training, some nutrition, and some great mental tips. His training plans can take a beginning runner from couch to a half marathon in 18 weeks...quicker if you are already running.

My motto is...I may be slow, but I finish the race, It's better to be slow, than to never start at all, & just put one froot in front of the other!

DD has even done 2 5k's with us, a watermelon run last year on July 4th-and the heat was horrible, and Castaway Cay.

Hope to see you out there for the Castaway Cay 5k, and running around the Dream :yay:

Be sure to do a half marathon, & a full marathon, before you even contimplate the Goofy! I have a lot of respect for the Goofy runners. I personally don't think I will ever run a full marathon, let alone a half marathon on Sat and a full marathon on Sunday. I have a friend doing her 1st Goofy in January. I have no desire to run 39.3 in 2 days.

The half marathon medal is Donald and it's gorgeous! DH and I are headed out to DL for their half in Sept, and that medal is beyond gorgeous. Plus since we are running both coasts, we get our Coast 2 Coast medal this year too! Not bad for this girl who didn't run at all 3 years ago!
