October 30, 2011 Wonder - A Haunting on the High Seas

:scared1: I really hope they rethink this! I mean WHY make life so complicated??? I want Halloween on Halloween! I have looked at 2 different sets of Navigators for this cruise from previous cruisers that posted them here and the schedules were different... so how do we know which night will be which? Do we have to wait until the sailing before ours? I hope they don't move the Halloween festivities, but I can totally see them doing it, after all at DLR and WDW they celebrate Halloween fro a month and a half with the Halloween parties... I guess we will have to wait and see :confused3

Call them and let them know what you think. Please

We booked the Wonder over Halloween in anticipation of the celebrations. I just spoke with DCL and Halloween, October 31 is a formal night and Halloween activities have been moved to October 30, the sail date. WhaaaAAT?! I asked how they will work that if all aboard is not until 4:00, and then we have the lifeboat drill and sail away party, dining at 5:30 and then 8:30, plus the welcome-aboard show. When would they have the promised custume parade and contest and trick or treating? She didn't know how that could work.

Imagine the poor stewards if people have worked on costumes and their luggage doesn't arrive in their room in time?

You can't MOVE Halloween - sounds like a Disney cartoon title -- The Ship That Rammed Halloween.

Please call DCL to tell them that Halloween needs to be celebrated on Halloween! Here's the number for Castaway Club (toll-free, and they'll answer even if you aren't a clubmember yet!) (800) 449-3380.

Im going to call right now, and I'll have my husband call tomorrow.

I called and they said Halloween festivities will be on the 30 !!! That means we will have to carry on my kids costumes, I was going to put them in my luggage !:headache:.

I do not think they will do it on the 30th. There is NO WAY to pull that off on the first day. It is basically impossible. When I spoke to them today they said none of the ships have firmed up their plans but will do so this week. most people are not on the DIS boards and have NO IDEA to carry on costumes. It would be a customer service NIGHTMARE with upset guests!

I just called the 800 number and they said to carry on costumes if you have any concerns because as of now, Halloween will be celebrated on Sunday the 30th but they would note my concerns and pass it up the line. I'll call again in a few days.

I will call also. If we have to carry on costumes I will be livid. My oldest really wants to wear her witch costume and the hat is an awkward size that I don't really think I can practically carry on. If Halloween activities are on the 30th my oldest daughter will be crushed. The kids won't have had any time to mingle and get to know other children. I doubt my youngest will participate much.

This is all just so silly they told me the same thing! I'm going to have my husband call today, I'm hoping the more complaints the better. I'm also going to call again in a few days when my diet really kicks in and I'm super cranky!

40 days away! I'm officially starting a diet today. :sad2:

I started my diet back in July - Im down 12 pounds so far, if I can just lose 5 more I will be ecstatic!!!

Got any diet secrets you want to pass along??? :cool1:

39 days!! :woohoo:

Good for you! Right now I'm just doing low carb, no bread or sweets. In April I lost 25 pounds in 30 days on the HCG diet. It is a very strict and somewhat controversial diet that only allows 500 calories per day, but I found it very effective. After the diet, I lost another 5 pounds for a little cushion. I can tell I've put a couple back on so I want to lose those plus a few more because I plan on eating well on the cruise. I pretty much always do low carb, but on the cruise I'm going to live it up. I'll be happy losing 5-7 pounds before the 30th. I've also been walking every night, but I think I better get back to the gym soon!

Just called DCL and they said Halloween will be celebrated on Oct 31st! :thumbsup2

As for formal....still showing on the 2nd night but hoping they change that!

I must say, Disney is one of the few companies that really listens to their clients wishes. They rank up at the top with Nordstroms. But that's why we pay a premium, right? Most times I don't mind paying a little more if it's made in the USA, or if they have superior customer service. :goodvibes

Now let's hope they change formal night. :cheer2:

I really hope they move formal night then... I bought a pirate costume for Hallowe'en (and pirate's night I figure that it can do double duty) and the beautiful formal dress I posted pictures of now I need to make sure I can wear them both. :rolleyes1

I agree!!!

Yay!! I called the other day and was told the same spiel about how nothing was decided etc. Glad to hear they came to their senses!
