Oh and I'd be happy to put together a list of what each Dis-boarder should bring (seeing as I will need a list, lol)--a count of how many days of FE gifts, secret santa gift(s), Fish extender, magnets, etc. Anyone want to coach me through it?

Hi everyone,

It is my nephew's 4th birthday next week so Hannah is now on a real countdown.
She knows that she is next and we will be cruisin' with the Big Cheese himself!!
Now I have to get organised with the FE Gifts.
I am working hard and trying very hard not to get to excited cause I need to focus on my work and studies. Have been doing Bikram yoga classes to be ready for the feasting that goes on!!! Love good food especially when it is cooked by someone else.

Well I better get back to my studies and house cleaning as I will be busy over the next few days.

Becky

Fun, fun! Love the countdowns! I will have my students help me countdown once school begins again on 7/11. How is the Bikram? I always imagine it too hot. I love yoga but have never been brave enough to try it hot! As for weight gain, 4 cruises down and never have I gained any weight on a cruise! We stay busy the whole time and love all the activities and the food! I'm with Hannah! I can't wait either!

Wow, you are braver than I am. I have heard from a number of people that zip lining is a lot of fun, but I am not very good with heights and therefore could never do this.

We did the whale watching, snorkelling and sea kayaking excursion in Puerto Vallarta during the Panama Canal cruise and that was amazing. They are offering the same excursion minus the whale watching in October and we are planning to do this again.

Two of our table mates did the Sea of Cortez Snorkelling experience in Cabo and loved it. I would not be able to do this as you have to sign a form stating that you are not allergic to bee and wasp stings. Unfortunately I am. Apparently there can be jellyfish.

Corinna

I'm really excited about the zip lining! I've never done it, but I think I'll be okay. Another fun thing about cruising! There are so many choices of activities that everyone can do what they like and still have a great time together!

I just found out that on the spring MR cruises, the same restaurant was repeated on the 2nd and 3rd night. So the rotation PTTAPTA would mean that you would be in Triton's for both Formal and Semi-formal night and in Animator's Palate for Pirate night. TAAPTAP would mean Animator's for both Formal and Semi-formal night, but Parrot Cay for Pirate Night. This is such a shame. If we get our requested rotation then we would now miss the Parrot Cay rotational menu, which is my favourite, if we end up eating at Palo for Graham's birthday. Never mind, I am sure I will have many more opportunities to enjoy this menu.

Corinna

Is there an advantage to a particular dining rotation? I know on our 2 Eastern cruises with Disney we enjoyed one particular rotation, but what would you suggest for our MR?

Like you, I have one particular meal that I had on our last Disney cruise in Animator's Palate that I would love to have again. I'm not even sure if they still serve it, but it was one of my favorite meals ever!

Awww, bummer! :sad2: Corinna what's the difference between the regular menu and the the rotational menu? With the above rotations it looks like I wouldn't be able to get Tritons for Formal night AND Parrot Cay for Pirate night?

Great question!

I'll need some help with the secret Mickey part, too. I've never done that one!

I hope everyone enjoys their day! Off to work again! :teacher: Nothing like vacation when you are at work every day! :upsidedow

Yes, I don’t know why they have decided to do the rotations this way. On the Magic, you are not in the same restaurant two nights running and I had just assumed the same would be true for the Wonder. It was most certainly the case for our Panama Canal Cruise. I know that on the 4 night cruises on the Wonder they used to repeat the same restaurant on nights 2 and 3, but that very much had to do with the length of the cruise and the fact that they had to fit in all three rotational menus and the Pirate menu on only four nights. This is not really given on a 7 night cruise.

Each of the three dining rooms has its own menu and they are served once a cruise. So on nights where the rotational menus are served, the menu is different depending in which dining room you are on any given night. You will get to experience all three rotational menus. The rotational menus fall on day 1, 3 and 5. On the remaining four nights, all dining rooms serve the same menu. On day 2 (Formal Night), this is the Golden Mickeys Menu. On day 4 (Pirate Night), the Pirates in the Caribbean Menu is served. On day 6 (Semi-Formal Night) everybody gets the Captain’s Gala Menu and on the last day, the Till We Meet Again menu is served in all dining rooms. If you want to have a look at what to expect for each of the 7 menus, I have typed them up on the first two pages of this thread. There may be some minor changes to the menu by time the cruise comes round as they often substitute one or two items, but the menus on here should give you a pretty good idea what to expect.

Corinna

Unfortunately this is correct.

Corinna--Thanks for all the info you're sharing--it's particularly helpful to us novices! I am surprised to hear that our count is dwindling. I'll be anxious to see the updated roster!

I am glad to help.

The families that have dropped out were never on the roll call spreadsheet. They were the last two families that were part of the original reunion cruise group. We sailed with them in 2009. There are three more families that posted on the old thread, but have never posted here and so far have not responded to my PMs. Again, they have not been added to the roll call as I only add people on there once they have confirmed that they are definitely coming. So everybody who is on the roll call at the moment is still on board as far as I know.

Oh and I'd be happy to put together a list of what each Dis-boarder should bring (seeing as I will need a list, lol)--a count of how many days of FE gifts, secret santa gift(s), Fish extender, magnets, etc. Anyone want to coach me through it?

If you have any questions or I can help in any way then just ask away.

It is debatable if one rotation is better than the other and a lot of this comes down to personal preferences. A lot of people want to be in Triton's for Formal or Semi-formal Night and in Parrot Cay for Pirate Night. Personally I love being in Triton's for Formal Night, Parrot Cay for Pirate Night and Animator's Palate for Semi-formal Night. For me they are just the best fit for those theme nights.

There are going to be 3 different rotations on this cruise if the spring cruises are anything to go by:

PTTAPTA (Formal Night - Triton's, Pirate Night - Animator's Palate, Semi-formal Night - Triton's)

TAAPTAP (Formal Night - Animator's Palate, Pirate Night - Parrot Cay, Semi-formal Night - Animator's Palate)

APPTAPT (Formal Night - Parrot Cay, Pirate Night - Triton's, Semi-formal Night - Parrot Cay)

APPTAPT is probably the least desirable option. I do still prefer PTTAPTA as this also gives us three meals in Triton's, which is my favourite dining room.

I'll need some help with the secret Mickey part, too. I've never done that one! Sheri

There is a info post about Secret Mickey on the first page of the thread that should hopefully help a bit to get an overview what it is all about. If you (or anybody else) has questions that are not covered there, feel free to ask and I promise I will answer any questions.

By the way, is everybody aware that we will get an allocated character breakfast?

No I'm not aware! Is this ship-wide? What are the details? My kids will love that!

Yes, everybody on the ship will be allocated a character breakfast on one of the sea days. When you get to your stateroom on the first day, you will find dinner tickets and they have your dinner rotation on them and also the date and time for your character breakfast.

For the character breakfast, you will sit with your table mates for dinner (if you have any) and will be served by your usual serving team. There is one character breakfast for people on main dinner and another for late dinner. We always have late dinner and our character breakfast always was at 9:45 AM. It takes place in Parrot Cay and it is a sit down breakfast rather than a buffet. Mickey, Minnie, Chip, Dale, Goofy and Pluto are in attendance. On all the cruises on the Magic they were in their tropical outfits, but on our Panama Canal Cruise on the Wonder, they were wearing their nautical outfits. It is a lot of fun. The only criticism that I have is that they have no Shutters photographers at the character breakfasts.

Wow, there's lots of planning going on.
We haven't decided what we are going to do yet. The big thing for us will be the dolphin swim. Although we can do it in Australia, it is very expensive and there is only one place to do it. They have age and number restrictions too which makes it hard for us.

Bikram is amazing!! Yes it's hot but I love that there is a routine to it and that I have to focus on myself and what my body can do. I am surprised at how much I can stretch and contort in the heat. Yes I sweat but if it is good for me then I'm all for it.

I must admit we didn't put on lots of weight as we were so busy on our last cruise but now we know what's in store we are better prepared. I am looking for to the desserts. I am a big chocolate fan and LOVED Disney's desserts.

Hannah and Madalyn are ready to tell their cousins what we will be doing. The girls are super excited and are going through our last holiday photos to recall the best rides and best places to be on the ship.

Look out for us because we will be doing everything if the girls have their way:rotfl2:

I am also one of the lucky people who never put on weight on a cruise. I tend to be on the run all day and I try to spend some time in the gym at least every other day as well. Add to that the fact that we usually combine a cruise with some time at Disney World (or Disneyland in this case), where I tend to walk miles every day and maybe that is not all that surprising. It makes a nice change from at home where I just have to look at food and put on a couple of Pounds.

Plus, on the cruise we don't have to cook the food or clean up!

Great food, lots of activity and no new pounds! Woo Hoo!

I've been working on some ideas for magnets, or they can be used for T-shirts, postcards, whatever! Feel free to use any of them!

I fixed the main logo, so it doesn't have Mazatlan anymore

These first 2 I used basic designs by Milipie one of the DISigners

The last 3 I just played around with ideas for t-shirts ... I have boys, so I tried to do something that they would wear, as well as me :)

You can have shirts printed at vistaprint for CHEAP! Or you can buy iron-on transfer paper that you print off on your own computer, just remember that you have to reverse (mirror) the image before printing. We have used those lots, but they do fade in the dryer.

I also have a fun design for our family, but it still needs a little "tweeking". I have a vinyl cutter, and am going to try doing it on that, with heat-transfer vinyl.

This is helping the time pass! I am so excited to almost be at the "90 day" mark!!!!

Enjoy!
Mindy

Thanks for taking the time of putting them all together. They are amazing.

Corinna

Nice Job. I am so glad I found you on this thread. You have been a real blessing. Thank you.:woohoo:

Very nice! I am so far behind I feel like I will never catch up and know anyone. This is so not like me.

Life has been crazy busy here and now - it is finally officially summer break. We turned everything in to my daughter's "school" yesterday and she picked up her state test scores. We are very proud of her. She scored in the 92.8 percentile nationally. All of her subjects - she scored college level.

She had her 8th grade graduation last week so we are done with all of that!

I am going to have go back through and read everyone's comments so I can start putting names togather.

Can't believe this cruise is coming so quickly. We are not doing any excursions as we just went on this cruise in March...just going to enjoy the ship except for a quick run to the store in Cabo for some soda.

Hope everyone is doing well!

A big congratulations to Tori. You must be so proud.

Is it your turn on Sunday as well to make reservations?

Corinna

Congratulations to Tori. That is a job well done.

Maddie and Hannah have 3 weeks off and they are happy to spend it with dad.
I wish I could have some holidays but I have to save them for the Disney trip.
Oh well three more months at work then I can chill out!!

Will have to spend some time finishing FE gifts now so I better get cracking.

You and your daughter should be very proud of her accomplishments. I know how hard she must have worked to accomplish this. Good for you.

Thank you everyone! We are very proud of her.

Corinna - I gues it is our time to book but we aren't booking anything as we just did this cruise in March and there are no excursions we want this time around. We are going to skip Palo as well since I am not sure if Tori will want to go to the teen club during that time - she wasn't to thrilled last time with the activities.

Good luck to everyone who is booking tomorrow!

I think we are the only ones on here that can book their stuff tomorrow. I have decided I won't set the alarm clock. Getting up at 5 AM in the middle of a run of late shifts is too much of a killer. I often wake up around that time anyway and if I do then great. My iPad will be right by my bed. As soon as I am awake I am ready to go. If I don't wake up in time, that's fine, too. I don't think I will have any trouble with the excursions. The only thing I am really worried about is Palo tea, but Graham rightly said that we will be on another long cruise next year and there will me more opportunities to get tea.
