Ethan's birthday party couldn't have been better. We had it at the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum. The New Orleans Saints and the Indianapolis Colts had a pre-season game here last night so there were a lot of VIP's in town. Just so happens there was one at the Hall of Fame with a group of kids. He was told it was Ethan's b'day and he came to meet him! We are die-hard Mississippi State fans and it was a former player of theirs, Johnny Cooks. He won the Super Bowl with the New York Giants so some of you may have heard of him. He has retired in Starkville, MS which is where Mississippi State University is. He said he couldn't stay away from his beloved Bulldogs! Anyway, we had pics made with him and talked a while. Ethan came up to his beltbuckle! He was a linebacker. Ethan was on cloud 9 all day from that meeting. I guess pixie dust can fly pretty good!

We are watching the development of Ernesto carefully. I think it's going to go more to the west of MS. I don't wish that on anyone, but our coastal residents couldn't take another hit, even a minor one! Thanks for all the prayers for us and New Orleans.

I'm off to take a shower. We are going to see How to Eat Fried Worms in a little while. I'm glad he likes going to the movies, it's easier to explain why you see all the kiddie ones when you have a kid!

Have a good Sunday!

We've gone for plan B,back to back room 8034....we've just told the kids were going back to back, when they've could down from the roof i'll get jess to post on here....

:grouphug: I have a good friend that lives in Tampa... looks like it's headed her way. Prayers and Pixie Dust for all wherever he lands...

It's in my top ten list of why I LOVE being a Mom... seeing all the cool kid's movies! :rolleyes1 Let me know if you like it!

So we were close to being on page 3! ACK!

How to Eat Fried Worms is a great movie! We laughed out loud a few times. Ethan still talks about a certain part and acts it out.

Looks like Ernesto is going to miss us but head over to Florida. I hope it moves across quickly and doesn't ruin anyone's plans.

I was looking at the previous posts and forgot about the t-shirts. I like the one with the pirate and ship. It doesn't matter which one is on the front to me. I just like having both on there. Are we getting small ones for the kids also? I know Ethan would love it!

Well, I guess I should dry my hair and get ready. I'm going to pee in a cup and get fingerprinted for my new job application. Fun, I know. Hopefully I'll be reporting in soon and telling y'all about my new job!

Have a great Monday! Well, it that's possible. LOL!

One year ago today I was watching the weather channel knowing that it was going to be bad. If you want to read some incredible stories, go to the Katrina thread on the community board.

Hope everyone has a good day!

OOOH, OOOH! I just noticed my ticker now has 13 months on it! :cool1:

Yikes, so much to catch up on......

Gent, no problem, the more the merrier, hopefully they will come on soon and chat.

Kim1, glad everything went well, you just have to do what is right for you and Noah. I do agree with you on them not meeting yet, I know too many people who have brough the kids in on a relationship too early and it is always a disaster, almost like a divorce all over again.

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY ETHAN!!!!

Welcome back Lori!!!. I have always taken the kids out of school and really don't care what teachers or principals have to say. I have never asked. I always tell the teachers in advance but also have told them not to send homework as we are on vacation and I am not spending it making sure they get the work done. They can do it before we leave...as I give notice the first day of school when we are going or they can catch up after. We have been lucky it has never been a issue. Now my kids are in highschool and have never failed so I guess I didn't damage them too much :goodvibes But our high school gets a weeks vacation at the end of Oct into November so we always travel then.

Did I miss anythings, sorry if I did. We are spending so much time trying to find DS a car as he will be going away to school next year...well still living at home but will have to travel for school so gots to get a car without having to mortgage the house......lol

OK back to work, have a great day all.

Kim

Boy, we are sure slowing down on posts at times!

Hope everyone has a good Hump Day!

"good Hump Day"...Do we have to talk about THAT on here?. ....am not sure this board is the right place for a shy reserved gent like myself... :rotfl2:

I know I'm busy with back to school stuff: homework, lunches, clean clothes, sports programs .... ugh :guilty:

Me too! Noah started soccer, we leave for a mini 4 day vacation in Traverse City tomorrow morning, school starts on Tuesday, I have to go to Seattle for work on Wednesday.... OH MY GOSH... I need 4 of me!!!

Oh, and the ex already broke it off.... I will NEVER date him again. In fact, my assignment this weekend is to write that down... 2000 times! :lmao:

Have a GREAT Labor Day weekend everyone!

Hey everyone,

Kim1 sorry things didn't work out for you with your ex. I think things happen for a reason and maybe it was not what would be best for you and Noah.

Well I might be bailing on this cruise. DH and I are thinking of going to Alaska in May and he told me I can't do both :confused3 So I have a decision to make, although I love Disney I have done the eastern and doing western this year and we have never done Alaska so I have some serious thinking to do.

WHat to do what to do?

Kim

Alaska thats a hard choice. The storm is almost over alot of rain and some wind. We are taking the train to Atlantic City. Everyone have a great weekend. :thumbsup2 :sunny: ;) :goodvibes :)

That wouldn't even be an option for me! When I think of vacation I think of sun, sand and froo froo drinks :smooth: . I know everyone is different, but I like going south for vacation! I'd love to see the wildlife in Alaska, but not at the expense of sun and sand! I know, I'm probably in the minority but I'm trying to persuade you to go on the cruise! We sure would miss you on the cruise, but if this is a once in a lifetime opportunity, go for it!

Nothing new here. Ethan's first flag football meeting is next Wed. We are going to be really busy until football season is over. We have season tickets to Mississippi State games. We are going to The Incredibles on ice next Sunday, after we go to the State vs Auburn game on Sat. We also have karate on Mondays and Thursdays. His football practice and games have to fit in somewhere! I agree, I need 4 of me also!

Kim, sorry to hear about the ex. My motto is "if it didn't work the first time, there's a reason" and I don't try again. I know I may miss out on a wonderful time by sticking by that rule, but so far for me it's been true!

Hope y'all have a great holiday weekend! Stay safe!

Looks like everyone went away for the weekend - lucky! I've been home cleaning out drawers and organizing closets - stuff no one sees. I've also been working on Girl Scout stuff. I'm going to be leader this year for my DD's troop. It's not like I have enough to do - I'm team mom for my DS's baseball team(S), room mom and a secretary on our school/parish women's guild. I guess I just don't know when to put my hand down. We also have our big parish festival on the 23rd and I just signed up to work 5 different booths that weekend.

But, I booked my summer vacation for next year! So, let's see, I'll have a Summer Vacation and a Fall Vacation next year! :cool1: :cool1: I guess I'll be eating pb&j sandwiches for lunch from now on to save $$$.

We are also trying to see if we can getaway for our 24th wedding anniversary too. (the 25th will be on the cruise) We want to go to Vegas but everything seems so expensive right now. It's funny, cause I'll spend $200 a night to stay at the Yacht Club in WDW, but I won't spend $99 for a night at the Mirage in Vegas! Priorities I guess!

OK, so I'm starting to freak out a little bit. I need y'all to ease my fears. I'm starting to think maybe we should go to WDW the whole time instead of a cruise. Help! I was reading a post that said 7 is a wonderful, magical age to go to WDW. I then started thinking that we can cruise at any age but he probably wouldn't want to cruise DCL when he's older. I then started thinking that cruising with DCL is the best of both worlds. We were at WDW for the first time in June and he was almost 7. When we cruise he will have just turned 8. Close enough? Will one day at MK ease my fears or make me regret it? Can you tell I'm on sinus meds and have nothing else to do? LOL! I checked into the land/sea package and I don't think that either would be long enough. They also leave on wierd days so that's totally out. I know we will have a good time on the cruise, but will I be missing out on a "magical age" with my son that we will never be able to recreate?

"but he probably wouldn't want to cruise DCL when he's older."

No way vital, the twins were 9 when we first found the mouse, long story cut short my wife NEVER had any interest in WDW or the US for that matter,"Am going to take the kids to disney weather you come or not"..Ok i'll come on one Condition we go for 3 weeks and we do a cruise after the parks...we'd been to turkey the year before and someone had been talking about some boat disney had so off we trot to the travel agents to have alook into this floating mouse and 2 hours and $20,000 dollars later were booked. The most we'd ever paid for a holiday before was about $6000 so you see this was a very big decision on my wife's part anyway..lol..
A year soon pasted and were hot to trot to the airport,on Arrival we had one or two problems with are travel agents which took the glosh off things (wife would have got back on the plane given half a chance) UNTIL we got off are ****'s and got into the swing of things. The parks were HUGE,the parks in england simply don't have the space they do in florida everything is so much bigger (well not everything but we won't go down that road here)over your way.
We LOVED the parks but the one HUGE problem you may have with your little chap is if he likes the rides as almost ALL the "BIG" rides have height restrictions on them so it's like taking him into a sweet (candy)shop and not buying him any leaving him a very un-happy bunnie :sad2:
I was lucky as digger was'nt into the real big ones so i only had to worry about rosie (who is fearless)chucking a wobbler if she could'nt get on a ride which only happened once at seaworld The kraken...we had tears and lots of them...
See ive gone on again,my point was WAIT to do the parks until he's bigger
so the height restrictions aint an issue one way or the other he can take them or leave them.
Don't forget i gave them the choice this time "2 weeks parks one week cruise" or "1 week parks 2 weeks cruise"...it took all of 2 seconds for them to decide...
The secret imho of a good holiday is to let your hair down and Enjoy what you have while you've got it (not something us english are good at i may add)
and dont come home saying "oh i wish i'd done that"... :yay:

ps...Oh the wife, now loves the US and micky and would move state side at the drop of a hat with or without me,some would say "can't blame her really"....

laters
