UK-Simon means Canadian Thanksgiving! :)

We Canadians celebrate our Thanksgiving in early October (the second Monday, to be precise) so our Thanksgiving long weekend here, this year, is Oct 6/7/8 :)

I believe UK-Simon has mentioned that he lives in Vancouver.........and works at Grouse Mountain. I was born in Vancouver (live in the east now, in Toronto) and lived there until I was 11, and have many fond memories of Grouse Mountain :)

I am soo laughing at myself EVERYONE JOIN IN PLEASE!!!!! its okay really!

:goodvibes :goodvibes

I was soooo confused by that whole conversation you guys had about the G MOUNTAIN etc...........HA now i know why!!!!!!!!

So can you tell me about your Canadian Thanksgiving???????

Thank you for settign me straight!!!!

:goodvibes

I was just going through the cruiser list and it seems I am the only unaccompanied male of legal age. Is that good or bad?

Also I will be a bit out of contact over the next few days; I am co-chair of the NFFC Florida Convention which starts Thursday and runs through Sunday, followed by the Epcot Anniversary. So I'm checking into the hotel tomorrow and will be back Tuesday.

Several people have asked about shipping boxes to the ship. We did this last year and the boxes were in our room when we arrived (way before any luggage was delivered). The IDS shipping address that has been listed in the posts is the correct address to use and yes, you have to include all of the other information they ask for.

We shipped a BUNCH of halloween candy and decorations for the Trick or Treat and a couple of bottles of wine. I know it says you can't but we did with no problem.

I shipped UPS and tracked the package. It worked beautifully.

Thought that might help someone, so I thought I'd post.

Can't WAIT to sail. Am definitely ready for some fun in the sun!

Okay, I must admit it was kinda funny to think about the UK celebrating Thanksgiving, when the American Thanksgiving is all about the pilgrims fleeing England and all that :lmao:

Anyhow, that is not what Canadian Thanksgiving is about ...... it's a celebration of harvest time, really -- a celebration of autumn. Giving thanks for the bounty of food, the abundance of love in our families, etc etc.

Okay, it's really all about having a big ol' turkey dinner with all the trimmings and oodles of desserts too! :lmao:

Thanks for the information. I was waiting for someone who had actually done it to say it works. I am definetly going to ship a box. How early did you send it? I thought about 2 weeks out to give it plenty of time to get there.

OK Kim, here's the story!

My Mum had been a member of the Diss for some time, and many of the DISers used to come by and see me and say hi. It was fun for me as it was great to meet people who had especially come to find you and pass on messages from home.

great story
Is your mum still a DIS if so whats her name
, might know her from the UK board

Simon---loved your tag story. :rotfl: I am still waiting for my tag....apparently I don't hang out on the right threads.

Simon & 101Dalm Fan--Sounds just like our Thanksgiving.........eating too much turkey & pumpkin pie.

Pam,
Did you see the questions about the treats for the trick or treat? Do you want us to make our own treat bags up for the # we bought for or are you doing one big treasure bag????

Noah is in the shower... we just got home. Perfect weather (hot but with a nice breeze) the animals were out and about (watching the Lions get their mid-day snack - which appeared to be a bone about the size of a cow's leg was the highlight... ) and Noah is FILTHY dirty which is the sign of the end of a fun day.:yay:

Thanks for all the early birthday wishes... and yes Chris... 21 again... come Saturday I will have done that 2.199 times!:thumbsup2

Simon... you sound like a lot of fun, you'll fit in with this group very well.

CF - you never know... your Disney Princess could be sailing with her daughter or son and their family and just not be a DISer!! princess:

Ok... off to do homework that we should have done on Monday night, but didn't. If I'm teaching Noah anything really well, it's procrastination! 'Night to the moonies!:

Happy EARLY birthday to you, Kimm!!! :bday:

Canadian Thanksgiving and US Thanksgiving sound simliar. Celebrating the harvest and all that (again, makes sense since I assume the harvest is earlier in Canada with the weather changing sooner and what not). Not really a celebration of "fleeing England", that's more in July. Thanksgiving is almost a rememberance of the last supper with the indians before the pilgrims killed them and took their land. I believe this is why football is the official sport of the day. Food and then "epic battle".:rotfl:
