October 25, 2014 Fantasy Western "The Not So Scary Halloween Cruise 2014" Part 2

What a great sailing. :cool1:

Great weather, crew, pax, ports, and events.

It was wonderful meeting some of you.

It just wouldn't have been the same if we had missed a windy squall and a list. (as Sandy sailors):rotfl2:

Hope everyone had as much fun as we did.

Only disappointment was I was struggling with an unfamiliar video camera which wouldn't read SD cards. arrgh. Camera borrowed last minute. It had some internal memory but got filled just prior to CC.
Then again, perhaps it was fate. Relax and enjoy CC w/o video taping everything. lol.

Relaxing in Cocoa for a couple nights before heading home.

Safe travels to all.

Some details I enjoy. Thought I would share fwiw.

Total ................ 3695
Platinum .............. 59
Gold .................. 215
Silver ............... 1495
Total Repeaters . 1769
Newbies ........... 1881
Officer Family ....... 29
CM's on Business .. 16
Under 18 y/o .... 1294
Concierge .......... 141
Non USA ............ 933

What's amazing with DCL is these #'s could mean almost half the cabins were filled with repeat customers. Impressive.

All these # are up 5-8% from 2 years ago, same ship, same time, except Platinum sailors was 76 on 10/20/12, an interesting detail.

ETA; Did math and created new category; Newbies. lol.

Wow! Very interesting! Where do you get your numbers? Count us in as newbies, concierge, one under 18, and future cruisers as we rebooked for Southern Caribbean January 2016!!! Couldn't beat opening day prices with a discount!!!!

..... Where do you get your numbers?

I asked Tracey. ;)

I had those same #'s from last time and wanted to compare. Took her 5 minutes and handed me the print out. :thumbsup2

You can ask Guest Services too.

Always wanted to do a southern itinerary.

Record low temps in Orlando this am.... 45 degrees. :lmao:
Every time we are here there are weather anomalies. :confused3

I booked the Southern as well :cool1: I am looking forward to the warm weather and the prices were really reasonable.

Bear might have booked that, if he hadn't found out I was booked. :p

I agree, very impressive that almost half the cabins were repeat customers. Disney has mastered the art of marketing, as well as keeping their customers coming back.

:rotfl2:

It would be a challenge to avoid you, as it seems you sail every month. :worship:

Been put to work. It has developed into SOP over the years while here visiting wife's parents.
Got the slider torn apart at Grandma's. Electric, plumbing, painting, etc. all on the list today. :sad2:
At least I don't have to re-tile the master bath in a day though.
Could always be worse.

Warming up nicely outside.

We're safely back home, unfortunately we returned to 30 degrees and a chance of flurries  Didn't rebook any future cruises while on board, but we are planning on sailing to Alaska in 2018. :thumbsup2

Good to hear your made it home safely.

Yeah, I saw upper Maine could get 18 inches of snow. :scared1:

We are not ready for freezing temps nor snow, anywhere.

We never book aboard. :confused3

Alaska is awesome, you will love that trip.

Projects done at grandma's. :cool1: Except the huge armadillo den/hole under the generator slab. Delegated that to the neighbor for fixing his electrical issue. :thumbsup2 That will be a dirty job, have no work clothes.
Well, that's my excuse.

Forgot to mention, wife and I are land sick. Happened last time too. Blamed that on significant seas of Sandy, but this time no excuse. Fine aboard, yet lots of motion on land. Weird. We took Bonine the whole time aboard and continued on land this time, yet still affected. Last time after Sandy it lasted for two weeks for me.

The two off shore excursions we did at GC and CC were bouncy and rough, but the Fantasy was generally stable IMO. It's all relative though.

My new theory is we are destine to live at sea. :lmao:

The water was quite choppy at CC, but it didn't stop us from snorkeling. We barely felt the ship moving until the last evening, I don't blame Comm. Tom for advising folks to stay off the outside decks. Both my MIL and myself are still feeling slight rocking motions, although I think I got it worse as both legs of our flight home were rough and really shook me up

I've still got sea legs. Not anything annoying or making me sick. Just feeling the waves still. I'm kind of enjoying it still!

You should have seen the 2 foot waves at Sting Ray City, GC. :scared1: Slightly spooky when they say don't step on them, yet you are a cork in the water with 60# rays. :thumbsup2
After the Rays we went snorkeling at the Coral Gardens, and on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the worst, I was drowning with snorkel gear at I'll guess # 3. It spooked me. The wind and two foot waves, snorkel full of water, three breaths of Cayman water. I freak for a couple minutes. It was scary for a brief time.

The said the day before all excursions were cancelled due to waves/wind. It was still rough.

I got great pics. Can't wait to post.

CC lagoon appeared calm to us, but we did not access the snorkel lagoon. Was it choppy over there?
We para sailed first thing on CC and that 25 foot boat was rocking and rolling big time. Glad I didn't bring a real camera, because we were soaked, not from para sailing, but from the bow waves as we sailed out, and while maneuvering the boat for the para sailors.

I was outside in the squall aboard. Had to, lol. The winds really came fast. Fast sustained list of the vessel. That sustain was actually rare for that size of vessel, IMO. Usually the ship will right itself quicker. I estimate that list at at least 5 minutes. Amazing.

Wind on the TV peaked at 54 mph that we saw, which I question due to the sustained list.
But I'll bet the max wave height encountered on our sailing was 7 feet, the last night. :thumbsup2
Two years ago, max wave height 18 meters. eek.

The last night's motion was mainly wind and gulf stream current. IMO.

Perhaps we need something more powerful than Bonine once ashore to combat the land motion. :confused3

:goodvibes

It was quite choppy in the snorkel lagoon, and also over at Serenity Bay. We swam out to the sandbar at the far end of SB, you could see the waves coming in from two distinct directions and meeting in the middle to create a larger wave. It was nice and calm once you got to the sandbar, but you had to work for it to get there. Same thing with snorkeling, I felt like I was swimming at a snail's pace trying to get far enough out to see the submerged stuff due to the waves. Totally worth it though to get that close to the Nautilus. :thumbsup2
