Help! I can't fit everything into my suitcases, even with the new cow suitcase! I am up to my weight limit on one case (23kg), the cow suitcase is full to bursting (20kg) and the third big case - has costumes and FE gifts and toiletries and was going to have the suits in it aswell - is already filling up fast without the suits and dresses - so we are now going to have to borrow a suit bag for the suits! There will also be another bag arriving with my stepkids, and I'm really anxious that it won't all fit into the 7 seater we have rented. Anyone know if 3 large cases, one medium case and one suit bag, plus a couple of small carry-ons will fit in a 7 seater Dodge van (or similar)

This has got to be the most stressful holiday I have ever prepared for!

Sarah,

Can you ship your FE gifts and stuff for the ship that you will not need in WDW? You should still have time to get it to the ship...

Good Luck! :goodvibes :wizard: :goodvibes

Unfortunately it would take longer than 1 week to get to the USA even if I did it tomorrow - should have thought about it earlier though. I am starting to think about what I can live without...

Janice, thank you for adding the movies to post 1! AND for maintaining everything there!!!!!:worship: :worship: :worship:

Everyone, in your packing duties this weekend (well, most of us will be...) don't forget to pack your day bag! This was the number one best thing that I didn't know for my first cruise!

Here's a shortie explanation (Amy, no comments!!!!) on a day bag for those that don't know:

Day bag

You will need to pack a day bag for the 1st cruise day. They take your bags before you get on the ship and then deliver to your cabin at a later time.
We’ve had them arrive around midnight before!

So along with your regular bag, this is a bag that you will pack BUT keep with you as a “carry on” to the ship. This does not mean that it will be your carry-on onto the airplane, just the ship.

You will need to have something like this for your daybag:

Bathing suit, if you plan to swim that day
Change of clothes for dinner (cruise casual that night)
Change of clothes for the next day (in case they misplace your bag!! Never happened to us but you never know!)
Any night stuff you need – makeup, toothbrush, toothpaste, make up removers, etc, etc,
Sleeping items (pajamas, okay)
Medications
Anything else you feel you will need that first day

Sara,

Do you guys have space bags in the UK?

https://www.spacebag.com/travelbag/902305/

I hope you do!

Pajamas?!? :scared1:  :scared: What on God's green earth are those??? pirate: :rolleyes1

I think Sarah's issue was weight not really space.....oh, we have that issue too! Got a portable scale to weigh the luggage when away from home....gotta love BJ's! But Space Bags or the luggage bags from IKEA work wonders if weight is not the issue! LOVE THEM!

Sarah, have to tell you that you will probably NEVER lose your luggage with the Cow material! I laughed so hard at your post! Must say if I knew you and were following you in the airport, I would have a hard time not mooing! :rotfl:

Jenn, pajamas are for those that are under a certain age....I wrote this for Abby and Isa to help with their packing. Sorry, I don't think their mom and dad would appreciate me saying "Negligee, teddys or other Victoria Secret items"....:lmao: :lmao: And for those that sleep well a la naturale, you can skip this part and make your bags lighter! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Welcome Bill, Kerri and the girls!! Can't wait to meet you. How old are the girls. My DD is 7 and we are traveling with a family of 2 girls 5 and 7.

Spent the whole day working on FE's and door magnets!!I think I'm almost done:woohoo: :woohoo: I will ship them on Thursday. I have to work tomorrow, but only till 2pm DS is still medications, so he can't go to afterschool. ( the nurse has gone home for the day!) I did not want to call in sick b/c I'm only working 2 more days ( after tom) then off for 3 weeks. I felt guilty!! I was hoping to get some packing done this weekend, but I am going to a dear friends bachelorette party. On Saturday we have rented a limo to take 10-12 of us to the wineries out on Long Island. Hoping for a nice day!! DH will be home with the kids all day!!!!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Lynne thank you for the shipping instructions. I was debating about shipping them, but Dh will not be happy if he finds out the bag he is lugging thru Orlando airport is full of magnets and FE gift's!!! I could pretend not to know!!!:rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 Well I'm getting the kids to bed early tonight!!

Suzie, Glad is was not a heart attack! That's relieves some of the stress. Hospital stays are very hard for the elderly regardless of the reason!! I hope all is better before you leave.

Hi, our girls are 6 and 3, going on 17 anf 15. They are real excited and keep asking "when are we going". :rotfl:

Anyone following the newest hurricane? Let's all pray this is the last one this season!!!

Michelle, I'm getting more concerned about TS 16 (Paloma) but the 10/18 Eastern Cruisers hopefully are watching Omar! YIKES! Looks like they might have an interesting voyage.....

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Suzie, when I read the first line of your post... I had to refrain from posting and telling Sarah that you were calling her fat! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I have not even begun to pack, so I know I am going to have the same issues.... you know... being fat and all... :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Still have :laundy: to do.... Hey! They need a smiley sitting on a bulging suitcase! They could replace the  with it!

I bought the same scale Suzie, it was like $4.99 or something ridiculous like that!

I do love the idea of the Cow Print bag, I am going to be looking for that in the DCL terminal! I will try not to "moo" at it....

Hmmm... pajamas.... interesting concept... will look into it, but I think I prefer to have lighter luggage! :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

Yes, I've been watching that too, but it looks like it is moving west to the pacific so I hope that will not be an issue either!!!

Well, thankfully I didn't realize they're on a Western instead of Eastern so things should be fine for them.....

Wonder if someone would mind keeping us up to date with the hurricane updates on here? Would be appreciated, I'm sure! Thanks....

Oh, Jenn! I would be the last one to call anyone that F word! No way, especially since I've seen Sarah's pictures!

Well, I think we're off to McDonald's - Tori's fav, I don;t know why - for dinner. Forgot to lay something out and really don't want pasta.....Ed has been gone ALL day with meetings, work, and meeting up with contractors, etc. Won't even be home until we're all in bed.:sad1: Tori misses him so much since she barely gets to see him until she gets home from school and not even that tonight. We really need this cruise for some good family time. Ameera keeps asking where's dada....at work, honey, at work.

Tomorrow is our parent teacher conference after school then I have my stretching and toning class at church.....will get on chat after that, I hope!

First cruise - we sat by ourselves...a family of four at a table for four. Must admit, would have been nice to be seated with others. We weren't involved in the dis meet that time - although had found the boards and was a severe addict :surfweb: I don't remember knowing about the meets forum :confused3. We found that it was just so hard to connect with others - me being so shy and all ;) - and seeing someone at supper each night would have been a way to meet others. That was the main reason we joined the meet this time - to have some connections with people ahead of time. AND BOY DID IT WORK!!!!!!!!!!!! :cool1: :dance3:

When did the Girls Cruise last year, there were the three of us and they seated us with a lady and her aunt, and a mother, daughter and family friend. That made the cruise so much better! We had someone to compare notes with each day, and it was nice to run into familiar faces around the ship. We even did the beach together in St. Martin - although the mom ( a pastors' wife!) was a little bit put off that we went and checked out the nude beach part :rotfl: (Hey - what can I say - no such thing here - you'd freeze your bits and pieces off! And we couldn't be that close and NOT go look! But to be honest - the novelty wore off pretty quick - people should realize that once they reach a certain age - they should not go nekked! :lmao: Where were all the toned, fit, hard bodies????:confused3 )

This time - we're linked with our friends, so there will be 8 of us - but I would love it if another family was seated with us. It is a great way to meet others - if you're lucky enough to be seated with people you like - and who like you!!

On our last cruise, I made the mistake of letting them know I was allergic to walnuts. Apparently, with food allergies, they put you at a table without others.

I'm keeping my mouth shut this year!

This year, I'd love to sit with others! I'd love a table for 8 with Jenn, her hubby, Shoshie, and her hubby!

That would be so much fun!

1st cruise 2005 4 night: table for 8. We arrived first. Then, a Mom, Dad, and 4 kids of various ages appeared and asked, "how did a couple get saddled with us?" We had a great time with them, and found out that they're DISers! I'd read a post of hers on the main board the week before we left. Still pm from time to time.

2nd cruise 2007 7 night Halloween: table for 8 again, but a lot of the DISers linked dining. We had: pjpoohbear and mom, vital and son, kimmielee and son. We loved it. DISers at the 2 tables around us, too. Heard that late dinner there were several DIS tables. DCL should just ask that when you book: do you DIS?

Time to walk the greyhound...

Our first DIS cruise, we sat by ourselves. It was really nice because we could "decompress" from the day, talk about the next day, and not have to be "on" as far' as social graces, etc. It made for less stress.

Second cruise, we wanted a certain server and asked for him when we got on the boat right way... Unfortunately, the manager misinterpreted who we wanted (Ali vs. Ollie) and we got the wrong person and ended up sitting with another family with 2 kids. Their parenting style and rules at the table weren't really in line with ours, but then we felt guilty about wanting to dine separately for fear of hurting their feelings - even if it was to get seated in our desired server's section. It also meant that we had to divide up the tips between the "before" and "after" servers which made things dicey.

All in all, given the choice, I'm going to request the same server again when we get on board (and spell it this time), and see if we can't sit alone. It's a purely personal choice, and I love meeting people. But when we're confined to a table (where 5 yr olds aren't really meant to be for an hour or more), I would prefer to have the social freedom to get up and leave if our daughter makes poor choices, or if we're just too beat for desert.

Again, it's just a personal choice, and I can really see why others would want to have a full table of people to get to know.

Is there any way we can do this.... Now that the cruise is really close (:scared: ) Can we call DCL and tell them that "these people <insert list here> would like to be seated NEAR each other" We certainly cannot have one big table but maybe they can shove the DISers in one corner (where we belong)? :yay:

My name is not "social" or "grace"... :lmao: no worries! :thumbsup2
