October 25, 2008 Halloween on the High Seas (2)

On our first DCL cruise in 06, we requested a table of 5 so it was just us. This time, I'm throwing caution to the wind and put us out there to share a table with some unsuspecting family!!! I hope they have a sense of humor! Things can get pretty "interesting" with my kids! :dance3:

We are at the late dinner also. It would be great to put all "Dis'ers" near each other. We'll have to wait and see.....not much longer though! :cool1:

Well, thankfully I didn't realize they're on a Western instead of Eastern so things should be fine for them.....

Wonder if someone would mind keeping us up to date with the hurricane updates on here? Would be appreciated, I'm sure! Thanks....

I'll happily volunteer. I've got to keep an eye on the tropics, anyway, for work. Although I'll admit, I'm probably paying more attention now for impacts to the cruise than work... :rotfl:

Omar is of no concern to us (if you're flying over the Atlantic late this weekend into Monday, I suppose you may need to fly around it, but it'll be no big deal). TD 16 is of no concern to us. I'll post on any new ones that pop up.

Thanks, Staci (boy, deja vu - seems like I'm always saying thanks!) Really appreciate it!

Can not believe that I really have nothing to do. The kids are in bed asleep and any housework I could do would wake them, soooooo.......good night everyone!!! Can you believe this?????!!!!!????

On our last cruise, I made the mistake of letting them know I was allergic to walnuts. Apparently, with food allergies, they put you at a table without others.
QUOTE]

I wonder if this is why they have never put us with anyone...because of the boys life-threatening food allergies.

Cindy- I think your right about the food allergy and table arrangement..My DS5 has Celiac and can't have wheat (Gluten free) I always told them and for the last two cruises we were so lonely at the table my DH now orders Room service and doesn't come down much for the festivitiespirate:

My DS14 will be coming down with the family for some meals this time ( usually eats with the other teens from the Stack.....Now I know why it's been so lonely  I'm not telling this time:eek:

I think I put in for a larger table. There are four of us, and the girls are usually pretty well behaved (famous last words!). Our issue is that Annika only eats about four things on the planet. She will probably have cheese pizza for every meal. Sofia, on the other hand, loves all kinds of foods. Her favorites are sushi and Indian. Go figure!

If anyone would like to get together, that woud be great! We definitely insist on good manners, though, so keep that in mind :cutie: But we'd never cause a scene about it in the restaurant.

Of course, last night my DH FINALLY got the costume bug. Now he's putting together a Halloween costume too, which I wasn't planning on, so I guess I have to figure out something for me!

Nearly panicked when Target appeared sold out of their cute Halloween t's and leggings...luckily, I found them on a sale rack and scraped together outfits for the TOT. I do think it might be good to have them wear their DIS shirts, though, so we can easily keep track of them! Obviously we won't know each others kids by sight!

Off to try to start packing...you all have so inspired me to get a jump on things!

So, was it determined that you HAVE to use the dark type of iron on printer paper for the lime green t shirts? The regular won't work?

Thanks!

Will we be losers if we don't have door magnets? I have not even begun to think about such things, don't have the special paper (do they have it in stock at Office Depot or Staples).

There is just such PRESSURE to keep up!!!:scared1:

You will not be losers if you don't have your door sign done. There will be plenty of people that don't have door signs.

:jumping1:WE ARE IN SINGLE DIGITS!!!!!9 DAYS TO GO!!

I don't know why I am awake at this hour of the morning!! Yes, I do DS climbed into bed with us, woke me up, then fell asleep!! Leaving me wide awakw:mad:  I decided to make myself useful and get some stuff done. DOOR MAGENETS are complete!!! Earlier my husband was going thru the printouts that I had made and was wondering how BIG our door was!!! I may have gone a little overboard with my magnets!!! I'm having fun doing them:banana:

I have a question for TOT. I just realized that I have an appt for a massage at 3:00pm on Monday. TOT is at 2pm :scared1: :scared1: How long will it take?? Do you think the kids will be done?? I would have DH take over for me but it's a couple masssage.
Just wondering on a time frame if anyone knows!!

Hello fellow cruisers!

I can't believe that we head out on vacation in less then a week!! I am sooooo ready for a vacation!!

So, I don't remember which day was the dinner table question, but I would like to answer that now:

2004 - 4 night cruise - we were a party of 2 and sat at a table for 10; one couple on their honey moon; a family of 3 from England (we only saw their son once); and then a little girl and her grandmother - we never saw them until the last night - we had late seating and my guess was it was too late for the little girl

2006 (double dip) - 7 night cruise - again we were a party of two but ended up sitting at a table for 4 with two ladies from arizona - both of whom I had been talking to online (dis of course) for over a year

2007 - 3 night teaser cruise! - this cruise was not really planned but some of our fellow double dippers were doing a reunion cruise - 4 nights in wdw and then 3 nights on the wonder - WAY TOO MUCH OF A TEASE! The second day on the ship Linda is packing and when I asked what she was doing she said, "tonight we put the suitcases out" aargh! way too quick!! never ever again! oh - back to the dinner table - we sat with the same 2 sisters but this time they got there ex-sister in law to join us - our ressie was linked with the rest of the group so their table was always right by ours

I too have an allergy - I am allergic to citrus which is a real tough one when you are in the caribean - anyway - I never mention it until day one - our schedule has always been -
1. get on the ship ASAP
2. eat lunch
3. report the allergy
4. jump in the pool (usually the first of many drinks of the day!)
5. dismeet
5. fire drill

I think by then your tables are already decided -but my allergy, unlike nuts, does not prohibit me from being around others eating citrus - so that might have something to do with it

so - to answer the original question - we are fine whether we sit alone or with others - that's all you really wanted to know anyway, right :thumbsup2

GO PHILLIES!!

we're in single digits now! whoop whoop!:cool1: dancing around, been doing it since yesterday!

Wooohoooo :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

I am loved! :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9:

See that Amy? People LOVE me!

Hmmm... wait.... :confused3 You ARE talking about THIS Jenn... :confused3 as in ME... :confused3 right....ummmm... errr..... hehehehehe....

We should do it!

My son and daughter are fun, love to try new food, and very goofy. I'm the one with the poor social graces. See what 20 years of twelve hour night shifts saving lives does to a person?

I'm working on it though! Life with daytime people is very different!

Mary, I sooo hear you about the kid in bed thing....ugh! Does it to me everytime - takes forever to get back to sleep and then am exhausted the next morning from lack of sleep!

As far as ToT goes, there are two other adults in your group, so we just need to speak with them to let you "slip" away a bit early, if need be! I'm hoping the whole thing won't take more than an hour total but we shall see!

Okay, need to go help Tori get ready for school. Running a bit late today.....

He is super cute! :thumbsup2 I love the extra burst of energy about 2/3 through!

We should do it!

I don't even have THAT as an excuse! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Everyone, I am freaking out... I have NOTHING done... my FE gifts, my door magnets, my tip envelopes, laundry, packing, housecleaning, NOTHING... I have soooo much to do at work that I am afraid I am not going to have time to do anything at home... my house is a wreck (anyone see that tornado that went through only my house?) and I really don't want to come home to a wreck... especially b/c my mom has to be in that wreck feeding my two cats everyday..... On top of everything at work, we had a church member die, so (selfishly, on my end) this creates a ton more work, not to mention the interruption of the phones ringing off the hook. :headache: I feel like I need a pause button so I can just get things done. :sad2:

I think I need "super-fast-get-things-done"Pixie Dust, or a lobotomy. I will take either. :upsidedow

I think my cats are preparing me for this... Moush will jump on the bed and sleep on top of me... In the middle of the night she might move to another body part (restoring blood flow to the first), I always wake up but am quickly back to sleep.... Maybe cats before kids is the way to go? :confused3 Whowoudathunkit? :confused3

Jenn,

My husband and I have been telling friends for years...start with a pet.:thumbsup2 I think everyone needs a dog before kids. Dogs are so needy yet loving, just like little kids. Cats can take care of themselves (somewhat) and quite often would prefer to be left alone(more like teen-agers:rolleyes1 ). Either could be beneficial.:confused3 Maybe one of each ????:scared1:

AND "GET IT DONE FAST" PIXIE DUST FOR ALL....
