October 25, 2008 Halloween on the High Seas (2)

QOTD:

Where do you want to be when we sail away? (On board the ship, I know but where on the ship?!)

Good morning (I hope) Suzie

I have never been on the ship before so really don't know the best place to be for the sail away! I imagine we will be at the party, but I quite like the idea of being above the action on the balcony of deck 10, rather than in the thick of the crowds on deck 9. I will want to be looking out to sea, leaning on the deck rail as the land disappears into the distance !! Bring me that horizon!

I am just off to walk into town to get some cold remedy for DH - he now has "man-flu" and isn't feeling very well at all  - no doubt he will be generous and pass it over to me for next week when I need to be busy busy busy! Hope to get on with some costume sewing this evening - and we (me and the kids) have got the dentist for routine check ups!! :scared1:

Just wondering who else is having the late sitting for dinner - just wondering who we can wave too across the dining room!

Does anyone have any tips or recommendations for using local hotel shuttles to go to the port? We are staying at the Radisson Friday night, and plan to use their shuttle service Sat. am. Has anyone done this? Any tips you have would be appreciated. We want to get to the terminal (and on ship)as early as possible.

we used the radisson shuttle about 3 years ago - i think when you get there you remind them you are taking the shuttle and then they give you a time to be there - but - you can get their early and they try and get you on earlier if possible

Good morning (I hope) Suzie

Yes, thank you, it is a Good Morning. Pookie went to bed with Minnie again last night but took 35 minutes of her crying and banging on the door before she put herself back in. My poor heart can't take another time like that again.....

I got so much done yesterday and never even took a nap! Amazing, I know. My dining room table is starting to be a dining room table again! WHOOHOO!....I'm just waiting for Ed to sign the quarterlies so that I can make copies for the files and send them out. VEC thankfully I can drop off down the street! YEAH! :yay:

So today is finishing up the odds and ends then get a bit of cleaning done along with the final :laundy: load. DH helped me yesterday with that a bit, thankfully!

Had to take Tori to the dr last night. She's been complaining that she can't her very well. This is one of her MAJOR issues at school! I think it's just her tuning the teacher out though. Thankfully they had a cancellation and could fit us in. They checked her ears and found a little bit of fluid and wax. Removed the wax (poor baby but it was yucky!) and she's still having a tiny bit of loss still. They did a hearing test and she passed but they still want to send her to the audiologist in a few weeks if she's not doing better (will be after the cruise, of course!!!).

They also wrote a note to the teacher that she needs to have water available to her throughout the day. They only get 2 water breaks not including the one at recess and at lunch. This should be interesting in her classroom but she really needs to. She drinks enough at home but she doesn't at school and it starting to affect her (for the delicate ones, we won't go into it.......).

So, all in all a profitable appointment but was really hoping that her "hearing" issue was wax. I hate to think that she really doesn't listen to the teacher after all the times we talk about it. I won't go into the school story again since most of you know it already. She is doing great with her spelling and actually got an S+ on the last test (spelled September and wrote it beautifully!!!). Test is again today. Can't always spell Woodbridge correctly but gets Virginia no problems....eh, go figure!

Oh and had to cancel Ameera's birthday party. It was a small group but seems that everyone had somewhere else to go (Canada, schmanada - which is more important?!)(Caps game, what?!) or a few tragedys in the group (two had families in the hospital). My girlfriend had her baby a week ago (3 weeks early) so that explains that one....a red head again too! It's actually for the best since we need that Saturday for packing, etc and we will be celebrating her birthday on the ship. So no biggie and I was able to cancel the cake order!!! That's a plus right? Sad but worked out for the good. Our area is so busy with things that everyone tries to squeeze in so much on the weekends!

Sorry to prattle on and open that chapter of my life but you guys are such friends!!! 15 more days!!! I can't believe it!!

15 more days for us!!!!!

For the sailaway party Deck 10 sounds good for my family. Last time we went straight to the pool after we ate our lunch. We then changed up and when we came up we had missed the party! It was okay though we got a nice seat, the kids ran around picking up confetti and we relaxed. The great part was the crowds were all gone by then!

My family has late seating for dinner! I'll wave!!

Oh and I forgot!

The StormTrooper costumes came in. They aren't that nice considering what I had to pay for them but the kids love them.

Oriental Trading should be delivering the Darth Vader costume and the TOT items in a few days.

Q.O.D, AT the highest point of the yard arm or crows nest,:lmao: failing that from the balcony on deck 10,or stbd side! Just be so happy to be there to meet all.Think of me doing my Royal Marine assault course challenge next saturday with only a couple of days to go will need lots of :wizard: all for charity of course.

Andy - I have visions of you standing on the yard arm a la Capt Jack Sparrow coming into Port Royal on his sinking vessel! I have a feeling the Magic doesn't have a yard arm or a crows nest - so you will have to make do with the Deck 10 balcony, a crazy bunch of Welsh people and a cocktail or two!

and good luck for that assault course - no traumas allowed this close to the holiday! Are you looking for sponsors by the way?

How sad! Truly, truly sad......

Disney travelers scammed by bogus travel agency
Oct 8, 2008

Nancy Alvarez, operator of Miami based A Fairy Tale Event travel agency, has been arrested following complaints by travelers who booked with the unlicensed agency.

According to reports, Alvarez, who operated on the Internet, kept the clients money and did not provide the vacation package which they booked.

Alvarez, who advertised Disney packages, is said to have scammed clients out of $12,900 in travel payments made with money orders, wires and personal checks.

The Miami-Dade police have charged Alvarez with grand theft, unlicensed sale of travel and fraud.

since I cruise Kidless, I usually go Deck 10, and view from above. I'll be the one with the camera snapping way too many pictures. I so love the Sail away and Pirate Party, fireworks are my favorite. I'm going to try and find some bubbles to take with for Sail Away. I find it hard to believe this cruise is 2 1/2 weeks away. It came up so fast.
See you all real soon

Lynn

QOTD Catch up.

1. What I will miss - I will miss the wonderful 1 hour 15 minute commute to work. I will miss all of the conference calls at work. I will miss the cold weather. I will miss the taxi business I have on the side (bringing kids to activities!). notice I am defining 'miss' as what I will not be able to do!!! LOL
The only things I will actually miss would be the work NAPA reward trip that I was supposed to go on but decided I did not want to reschedule this cruise and will miss trick or treating with the kids in the neighborhood.

2. We also love Deck 10. You get to see all of the action without the craziness of the large crowd.

I just purchased the last of my kid fish extender gifts. i will try to deliver early since these can be used every night by the kiddos/teens!!! How is everyone else doing deliveries - a little multiple times or 1 big gift bag?

Michelle

Oh my goodness.... so many questions/comments... so little time. :goodvibes

Sounds like we all watch the same shows on t.v. everyone has listed many show I watch! I hope my DVR can hold everything:scared1: trying to clean it out as much as possible before cruise!

I have to give my DVR a thorough cleaning as well... And will have to stop all those automatic recording for repeats of House, Law&Order, CSI, Girls Next Door, all my Discovery Health shows: House of Babies, Special Delivery, etc. Don't want those shows clogging my DVR and taking up the space that new shows should be taking.

Will I be at the DIS meet the first day? No...I just have all the laynyards which I plan on lugging around for the entire cruise. ;) Of course I plan on being there! I can't wait to meet all of you.

:lmao:

QOTD:

Where do you want to be when we sail away? (On board the ship, I know but where on the ship?!)

I will probably be on deck 10, pushing those pesky kids out of the way so I can see :thumbsup2 ... :goodvibes jeepers creepers... who takes kids on these things anyway? :rotfl:

Just look at it as "Thank God he got the flu BEFORE the cruise and not on it"....

Oh! and we also have late seating... You can wave to me!

Sorry to prattle on and open that chapter of my life but you guys are such friends!!! 15 more days!!! I can't believe it!!

Isn't that funny? I have only "known" you all since July and don't even really "know" any of you... yet I find it easier to talk to you all about my issues than my friends here at home!

Andy - I have visions of you standing on the yard arm a la Capt Jack Sparrow coming into Port Royal on his sinking vessel!

One of my favorite scenes!

WoooHooooo :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: I love a man in uniform! :thumbsup2

I'll be the one with the camera snapping way too many pictures.

me too! me too! me too!

That is disgusting.

How is everyone else doing deliveries - a little multiple times or 1 big gift bag?

Have not really figured this out yet... depends on if the stuff I bought fits into the bags I bought... :confused3 I will have a better idea this weekend. I have taken Sunday off from work so will have a 3 days weekend to handle all this stuff that is overflowing off my dining room table. If I could find the camera on it I would take a picture of it for all of you!

For the nurses out there.... I picked up my Metformin scrpt this morning. It says no alcoholic drinks... Is that because the sugar in them or because of an interaction? I am not a very big drinker but would like to enjoy a dotd occasionally!

Jenn, we got reminder notices in the mail last year for Tori's gc's that they were coming up on expiration soon and we needed to use them. I've never heard of it being illegal - that's strange. I've even had some that if you didn't use them within one year they charged a penalty when you did use it (Macy's I think....been a while...)

On our last cruise we missed the Sail Away party as it's normally done. It was raining, so they moved it inside to the Atrium. Hopefully, this won't happen again!!!

Well, no sleep for us tonight.

Ed was downstairs with Ameera and I answered the door and stepped outside to talk with my neighbor. When I came back in, I was greeted by a chocolate face with puppy dog eyes when I came back in. She handed me my tin of Starbucks chocolate covered espresso beans (that was in my zipped purse! Guess she knows how to zip now, too!:sad2: ) No telling how many she ate!!

Called my friendly nurse friend (thanks Dana!) then the pediatrician but the only things they told us to watch for is no sleeping and she will probably have a loose tummy tonight and tomorrow. Oh, joy. Just what I need...no sleep!

Why does stuff like this only seem to happen to me?! I swear I am putting her in a plastic bubble soon! But, well, she might figure out how to eat the plastic! Oh, Lordy!!!

Hi Michelle ..... from past experience, I think it's best doing multiple, unless of course that doesn't work out for what you're handing out :)

You see, in the excitement of getting the FE exchange going, what can happen is everyone rushes to participate, meaning that the first couple of days everytime you check your FE you have a gift, but by mid-week the poor FEs hang there, neglected :) So, personally, I think it's great to have some little things -- last year, I had tons of POTC and Mickey stickers -- that you can slip into FEs right up until the last day. They didn't have my name on them or stateroom #, they were just little anonymous treats for everyone :) DH and I had our own little route planned out too .... sometimes we did our route early in the day, sometimes after dinner .... just, whenever ..... it's a great way to see the ship and, in particular, you get to see many of the decorated stateroom doors :thumbsup2

Just my two cents............ :)

Suzie, I do not mean to laugh... but this really is a riot. Some day (probably when Ameera's kids do the same thing) you will find it just as funny...

I guess this is what you have to look forward to:
