October 21, 2006~Magic~ Who's going?

Any scuba divers? It's been about 12 years since I've gone scuba diving. Nine or 10 for dh. We're going to get recertified if the classes aren't the same nights as Scouts.

You know what today is? The ELEVEN month milestone. :Pinkbounc Only 11 more months :cool1: I'm trying to convince myself that it's much closer now. :confused3

We are another month closer! I was saying to my DD tonight as we ran a few more errands to get ready for Thanksgiving that 11 months from now we will be on the Magic, but I wish it was in 11 hours, she asid she wished it was in 11 seconds! We are having 28 people over for Thanksgiving and my energy is running down quickly after a very busy day at work today. Last year we were on the Magic for Thanksgiving and that was soooo much nicer lol.
Well I better get back to my cleaning.

Cheryl :sunny:

How did your Thanksgiving go? Big numbers and Thanksgiving are given around here. My sister hosts because she lives in the same area as my dad and also in the same town as my inlaws. Even my inlaws go there for Thanksgiving. It's always wonderful to me that all the families, mine, my sister's, my inlaws on both sides and two parties removed get along. Last year, my husband's brother and his wife brought their toddler and one year old triplets. My sister has teenage girls who love babies so they played with the triplets while my SIL ate. She said it was the first time she had sat down and ate hot food since the triplets were born.

We cancelled our Carnival cruise for February, and that makes it all the sweeter when October 21st comes around! I'm working the 3rd shift stocking toys at Toys R Us over Christmas shopping season to make money for our trip.

I had to work Thanksgiving so my family ended up fending for themselves.
I am so ready for the cruise. I am also putting away extra cash for the trip. I will be looking at making extra reservations after the first of the year.

Thanksgiving went fine, but I will admit that I am glad that it is over, my crowd of 28 turned into 30, my cousin flew in from VA and a niece brought a boyfriend but whats an extra 2 more with a crowd that size? It was very cozy in my house but it was nice to have everyone together. My DH spent the weekend in the hospital, he had an elective procedure done on his heart that involved a new medication that required close monitoring while they adjusted the doseage to get it right for him so the weekend flew by in the respect that I got nothing done around the house. I work at the same hospital that he was a patient at and when I went to work today I felt like I was just there because I had just spent the whole weekend there lol. I am so glad I only work a 1/2 daytomorrow! The cruise is sounding reallllllly good about now :)

I have a lot of call hours coming up for work and I am hoping to sock away some of that extra money to help pay for the cruise. I am also using my Disney Visa and racking up points to help pay for our cruise excursions or on ship purchases.

Some busy weeks coming up getting the house decorated for Christmas and getting the shopping and wrapping done. I still need to make my Christmas cards, I stamp them, and I actually am still trying to decide what stamp set I want to use and what card I am going to massproduce this year.

Cheryl,

I used to handmake our cards before we had our youngest child but I had to give up my "craft room" in favor of a nursery/bedroom. LOL. Seems like I haven't had the time to get back into stamping since she was born and as the kids' schooling (we homeschool) becomes more demanding of my time. I'm not complaining. I think homeschooling is less expensive that my stamping hobby.

I hope your dh is doing well after his procedure and medication change.

It's turned cold for good I think. We even had a few flurries tonight. It wouldn't be so bad to be on a cruise now or in the next few months.

Hi All-

So when is a good time to book airlines, rental car, etc?? We are also going to WDW b4 the cruise, so I want to plan our week there.

Anyone going to MNNSHP? I think we will go on 10/19 TH. The schedule should come out in April.

We've never been to WDW, just Disneyland & CA. So if anyone has any must not miss tips, I'd love to hear them.

As of now we are planning to do Epcot, AK, and MK during MNNSHP. Even though we will be there a whole week, we don't plan to spend any more money on park admission...I think we'll skip MGM,...has a lot of similar rides to California Adventure.

I would really love any advice you all can give on trip planning.

Did I also mention that this is our first cruise!! I'm starting to get really excited...we are getting closer to the 10 month mark.

I'm happy to say we cancelled our reservation for this cruise. Happy because we are currently in the process of gathering our papers to adopt a baby girl from China. :cloud9: There is a chance we will be traveling around the time of the cruise or a month or two later. I hope everyone has a great time on the cruise! :sunny: Maybe we will be cruisin in 2007 with our new daughter.

Cindy

Cindy, that's a very good reason to cancel the cruise! Good luck!!

:cool1: You all know what today is???? :cool1:

:cheer2: THE TEN MONTH MARK :cheer2:

I'd be happier if it was 10 weeks or 10 days or 10 hours, but hey, it's less than a year, right?

Cindy,

That's really exciting. I hope your adoption experience goes smoothly and quickly.

:cheer2: 10 months from now at this time we'll be in the cruise terminal waiting for them to let us board!!!!!!! :cheer2:

Monica I'm with you in wishing it were 10 weeks, days or hours but like you said at least were at less than a year and next month we'll be in single digits for the monthly countdown! :cool1:

Suz72 It seems there are alot of different opinions on when to book things. I like to book early and then I keep checking back to see if there are better deals out there. We bought our airline tickets a few weeks ago. We fly a local airline that has nonstop flights to Orlando and they tend to have the best prices as far out as you can book and then as the plane gets fuller the ticket prices tend to keep going up so with them I like to book as early as possible. The few times their prices have gone down they have always given us the difference in vouchers which we've always used on later flights. We have the Pop Centry booked for the night before the cruise with a AAA discount and it doesn't seem like hotel wise there haven't been a lot of deals lately so I feel we did OK with that but I will keep my eyes and ears open for a better rate for that and then change if need be. I also made the rental car reservation and will keep checking the web sites for special prices as it gets closer. Now come spring I just need to watch for when tickets for MNSSHP go on sale and hopefully there will be one Fri. night so we can do that. DD has already requested that we eat at Planet Hollywood Fri. for a late lunch early dinner after our flight gets in lol. Wow we really are set to go! We've been to WDW many times and this will be our 4th cruise on the Magic so if you have any specific questions I'd love to try and help you. We are going to Disneyland and CA in June, do you have any must sees or dos for there to recommend for us?

Cindy, How exciting for your family to be adopting a baby! Good luck with everything! I hope you do get to cruise with your new daughter in 2007 :goodvibes

Well I'm off to wrap my DD's gifts. Today is my last chance while she is at school.
Merry Christmas everyone!

Cheryl

Only 302 more days!! Not sure which sounds better....10 months or 302 days..??
Hate to wish the year away...but....
I actually had a dream about our cruise the night before last...guess it was a subliminal reminder about the 10 month mark!!
My son and I are trying to decide where we are going to stay for our 4 nights after the cruise...we are going to do AK to check out Expedition Everest, and visit EPCOT for his first time...also going to do MNSSHP on the 31st!!
It is so fun to have something to look foward to like this....we talk about it quite often and make little plans along the way. We had a great trip to WDW last month...it is always so hard to leave! Thank goodness for these boards...it keeps us a little closer to the Magic!! :wizard:
Happy Holidays everyone!!

Happy holidays, all! Are there any teenagers out there also going on the 21 October 2006? By sailtime, I'll be 17, and my younger brothers will be 14 and 16. This'll be our first cruise ever (and our first family vacation in nearly seven years), so we're all very excited!

Belle17, my sons are going they will be 17 and 15 when we sail. I am hoping my 17 yr old won't change his mind. Maybe if he knows there will be some people his age going he won't mind. :flower:

Now that Christmas is over and the New Year is around the corner I am officialy in the cruise mode. I gave my DH cruise clothes for Christmas. pirate: He  and shook his head. Little does he know that I have more in the closet for him and DS. ;)

Tci1212, thanks oodles for your reply - my brothers were pleased to know they wouldn't be the only teen boys going! It took a while to get them out of thinking that a Disney cruise would be only little kids everywhere (which I'm definitely certain is not true), and then my mom and I learned that one of the teen programs they have on the ship is a Playstation 2 "showdown." When we told them that, my brothers' dispositions changed entirely! ^_^
Any other teen travelers out there sailing on the 21 of October Magic with us?

Belle17, No teens here. The oldest will be just a couple weeks shy of 12 when we leave. I'm happy to hear your brothers have had a change of heart about the trip. I can definitely see how a person wouldn't have the right idea about a Disney cruise at first. Dh and I thought the same things as your brothers initially. You write well for a teenager. Public, private, or homeschool? Just curious. :)

We let all the grandparents and uncles know that for gift giving times, the boys want Disney Dollars for their trip. Clothes for Christmas. I wish I had thought of that. The one good thing about having my only daughter outgrowing all her hand-me-down clothes (finally) is she gets all new ones! That means no-guilt shopping and I can make sure things match. The only down side is we have very different taste. As young as two years old, she's made that clear.

Anyone else driving down to Florida?

Disney dollars... Now there's a simple but brilliant idea! In our living room is a 2-ft. soda bottle "bank" where my family and I put in spare change that will go towards any extras like excursions we may decide to do on the cruise; for Christmas our parents gave us a lot of quarters to put in, as a special treat. We counted every last coin yesterday morning and found we have $97 in quarters, nickels, dimes, and pennies! (Ah, the pennies...) Thank you for the compliment on my writing, Yazee1 - I go to a public high school, and writing is something I absolutely love to do, almost as much as performing. Now, if only I could go to math class with the same enthusiasm...
