October 21, 2006~Magic~ Who's going?

Today's a milestone day. Thirteen months to go! :cool1:

We'll be joining everyone on 10/21/06! Altogether, there will be 14 of us-4 different families. My children will be 5 and 3 at the time. The waiting is hard, so to pass the time, I've booked a few other trips to WDW. :0)

Welcome! I wish we could get just a little taste of Disney Magic in the next coming year. We're just too far from Florida or California for that to happen. I'm thinking I should book us for 2007 now.

A year is just too long. I'm looking into a Carnival cruise for this February. It won't be Disney but we keep our expectations low, we probably won't be disappointed. Any of you avid cruisers think a family of 5 can do a 7 day cruise for under $3,000. ?

We just got back from Disney tonight. Spent 9 days there. One year was too long to wait for a vacation :) . We also have a cruise for Feb planned we are leaving out of NY. :sunny: It will make my Disney cruise come that much faster. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Dh and I have a difference of opinion embarking from NY or FL. He would rather drive to Florida (from NJ) because it would give us more days in Caribbean ports and not at sea. I would rather drive 2 hours to NY (instead of 20 to FL) and relax on the ship enjoying the progressively warmer weather as we head southward. Of course, that means progressively colder weather as we head back. :(

Yes, a cruise in February will make the months go by a little faster for sure. Besides, we've never been on any other cruise line. At the very least, it will be "research".

We are heading to Disneyland next week. It's just going to have to tide us over until the cruise next year since there's no budget for another trip before then!
Julie - California : :earboy2:

Tell me about Disneyland. What's the "funnest" part?

By the way, we did it. We decided on a Carnival cruise, mega-budget category. The five of us in one room for under 2400. I'm excited about it. As long as we're realistic about our expectations, it should be fine.

You all know what tomorrow is? Right? THE ONE YEAR MARK! Please help me with the list. Feel free to cut and paste. I can't believe how many people are accounted for already!

Yahoo the 1 year mark is FIANLLY here! My countdown even says we are at 12 months today already!

Yazee on your list of who is going you have Julie in WI but I think that is me that you are talking about and I am Cheryl in WI. When I very, very quickly scanned through the posts I didn't see anyone else from WI that has posted to this thread.

Life has been very busy lately and I haven't had much time for the DIS but now that we are only a year from the cruise I will definitely need to make sure I get on here more! I need to go back and read all the posts on this thread to see who else is going and also I know my DD would like to PM or email any other girls going that will be around 11 or 12 when we sail so they can get to know each other before hand. She did that before our last cruise and it was nice that she had friends to meet up with as soon as we got on the ship.

Hopefully this weekend I'll have the time to get caught up here. We are going to New York city next Wed. for a long weekend and have tickets to see The Lion King on Broadway and if we have time we'll also see Beauty and the Beast so that will help hold me over for my Disney fix until we go to Disneyland in June and then the cruise in a year!

Cheryl :wave2:

I'll celebrate the one year mark with you! :Pinkbounc :cheer2:

We've been very busy too. My DS got married on Saturday (10/15). My DDIL was beautiful. I don't know how to post pictures but maybe my favorite niece (jlc1012) can post one for me. How 'bout it, Jess? (And not the "Elevator party on the the fourth floor" picture either!) Tonight I spent 3 hours on the phone rearranging their honeymoon. They are in Disney and were suppose to drive to Key West on Friday for a week. Wilma has unfortunately invited herself to go along. Oh well, maybe they can go there for their first anniversay.

Happy one year mark!! (Almost)

:cool1:  :Pinkbounc :bounce:

I'm here celebrating...where is everyone? :confused3

I'll celebrate with you!! :cool1: :Pinkbounc  :bounce: :jumping1: :dancer: :thewave: :cheer2: :cool1:

Although it still seems so far away. We are going to NYC on the 12th of November, so I booked the Cinderella Meeting for DD (5) at the Disney Store. I have to get my fix anyway I can. :teeth: I also just booked the Tarzan on Broadway show for next May.

For those of you who are flying in the day before, have you decided where to stay? I was thinking about the Beach Club or the Poly. If MNSSHP is running that night, we will probably stay at the Poly. Otherwise, I think it will be the Beach Club.

I'm celebrating too! :thewave: In fact I just finished emailing friends of ours that are cruising with us too about how one year from now we'll probably be at DD (they live in a different state so we only see them when we cruise together and maybe once a year other than that)!

We are flying in the day before and right now we have reservations for Pop Centry for that night.

cindy21494 we are hoping there will be a MNSSHP that Fri. night too. I noticed you posted you are going to NYC in Nov. and again in May, do you go to NYC often? We are going to NYC next week for the first time! Do you have any tips for someone that has never been there. I told DH I definitely want to go to the Disney Store there.

Cheryl :sunny:

What a dumb cluck I am. I thought yesterday was the 20th. Then I go and mess up Cheryl's name. I should not try to type at night. :badpc:

I'm happy to see we're all out there living life to the fullest and getting a Disney fix when and where we can. Tevagirl, congratulations to your son and on gaining a daughter-in-law.

Our family will probably stay at the Radisson in Cocoa Beach again.

I'm off to book airfare for our cruise in February. If we don't mind leaving Philadelphia at 7 in the morning, we can fly round trip to Miami for 105.00 each. For that much, dh has agreed to flying instead of driving. Yeah!!

Cheryl, we usually go to NYC once a year. It is only 2 -2 1/2 hours from where we live. My DH lived in NY during the summers with his brother when he was younger. Now he can only take going for the day. He doesn't even like to drive there, so we do a bus trip. I guess when you live there, you lose some of the excitement.

Anyway, I see you are going to see The Lion King. It is a great show, you will love it! I haven't done one yet, but try to do a carriage ride around central park. I am doing that this time. We have done the Museum of Natural History. If you like dinosaurs, they have a wonderful display. Check out their website, I know they change the exhibits now and then. They also had a nice butterfly garden when we were there (not sure if this is always there). Definately go to the Disney store on 5th Avenue. I haven't been there since it was remodeled, but it was huge the last time we were there. They now have character meet and greets and you can sign any DD's up for the special Cinderella Princess Court (book it in advance). princess:

Since we only go for the day, we usually hit a lot of the same places, so I don't have a lot of places to recommend. My sister goes sometimes too, and I know she loved doing a tour of the NBC studios, you might want to try that.

I hope you have a great time. Let me know if you find something we should try out. :flower:

Cindy

Celebrating with you!!! I can't believe it is time to finally start the one year count down. :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

We are also thinking of staying at Pop Century before the cruise. Probably for 3 nights.

Hi Fellow 10/21 Cruisers!!
I am SO excited that we are only one year out! I know it seems like a long time...but we rebooked onboard last year at this time...so a year has gone by and only one to go! :Pinkbounc
Let's all be glad that we are not supposed to be leaving tomorow...as I think Wilma may have other plans...Let's hope and pray for a hurricane-free October in 2006!
We aren't coming in until Friday evening...so we are just going to drive straight to Port Canaveral and stay somewhere there. Then when we get back from the cruise we will head to Orlando for 4 nights and do MNSSHP, AK, and Epcot.
I am going to have a little celebration tonight with my son...I have the DCL DVD that we haven't watched yet...and I think I'll get out a few souveniers from our last cruise...maybe even a little cake or something...CELEBRATE!!
We leave for Orlando in 19 days!! Myself, DS10, DD23...we are going down for a week...going to Super Soap Weekend for one day, MK, driving to Clearwater for a day on the beach...staying at CR for 2 nights, Sheraton Safari for 3 and Nick Hotel for 2...surprising DS with this one...I think he will be very excited! Hopefully this will tide us over until next year!!
Talk with you all soon!!

Last year we made a trip chain when we got down to the 100 day count down. The kids took turns snipping a chain link until it was all gone. I wish I could figure out how to insert a photo into the message to show it.
