Hi again!

Nice to meet you all so far. Yes, my DD will be 5 at the time of the cruise. My DS will be 8. I'm early 30's and my DH, well, he's ALOT older than me! And I don't let him forget it. :rolleyes1 I want to book this cruise NOW. It's driving me crazy having to wait but DH has to get clearance for the date at work. He works for the USPS and they schedule 2007 vacations in Nov. I just need clarification: I can book now and if for any reason the dates don't work for us then I can change to a different date with no penalty at least 75 days out? Is that right? In a former life, before the internet, I used to be a travel agent but that was so long ago. Now it's all mind-boggling to me! Does anyone have a recommendation for an agent or agency? I got a quote from Dreams Unlimited as well as several other searches I've done. Everyone seems to be pricing competitively with eachother.

Brenda-
I'm not aware of any HRC's in my area. I'm close to Dayton, Ohio. There isn't a whole lot out here! Your idea is a good one though. The only Hard Rock I've ever been to is in London!

Linda-
My body may be in Ohio but my heart is in London!!!!!!

Take Care!

Abby..(Is it really Abby or Princess?) ;) We went through AAA for our reservations and received a $150.00 onboard credit for doing so. We have a category 6 Deck 6 so we got the $ for that. I believe the more expensive the trip is, the more of an onboard credit you receive. Hope you'll be able to join us!!

Brenda, sorry no HRC in this area. The closest one is in Chicago. We tried going there one year and some yahoo gave us the wrong directions. We ended up turning right rather than left and ended up on the south side of Chicago. :scared1: We kept driving and driving and finally Chuck let me out of the van to ask for directions from a gas station. I was getting some really cold stares as I walked in. The attendant told me to get my butt (he used another term with an adjective in front of it) back in the van and get the
%#@# outta there!!! He told me to keep driving and not to even think about getting out of the van until I'm at least 10 miles away from him!!! YIKES!!! Pretty scarey since the kids were still kind of little at the time. Never went back to the Windy City again. :wave2:

Brenda again, You didn't like the tag game we played on the Molar Express? Except for the fact that we had at least one magnet hog, I loved it!!! The tag gifts did take up 1/2 of my carryon, but what the heck?

Jeff, glad to see you're still lurking. Get your DW on this thread once and we "womenfolk" will certainly talk her into joining us in Oct. :smooth:

Well, gotta go. Going to the Wisconsin State Fair today for awhile. Chuck has been dreaming about his favorite Cinnamon Roll for months now.

Later Friends,

Nancy

Nancy - I really enjoyed the tag game once we were on the ship. It was the organizing and packing of all that stuff so that nothing would get damaged or lost that drove me crazy. I'm too anal for my own good. :teeth:

I can't blame you for not returning to Chicago - that sounds like an awful experience. I've been a few times and have yet to be impressed. There are plenty of other places I'd rather spend my time.

Thanks everyone for your HRC responses...sounds like my idea was about as good as a screen door on a submarine. :lmao: Linda, I will send you a PM about your super-sweet offer as soon as I have a chance to discuss it with the curator of the Mengwasser Family HRC Pin Collection (admission is free!).

Cass, I had no idea that HRC had an outlet store. What do they sell there? The link you provided had a coupon but didn't have information about the merchdise available for sale. If the curator deems it worthy (I think I've just come up with a new nickname for my husband... :lmao: ) we might have to figure out a way to get over there in October to check it out. Anything you and Rob are looking for that we can snag for you?

Today we are going to take my mother shopping for a good pair of walking shoes for our October trip. Otherwise she will show up to the Magic Kingdom and Epcot wearing dainty little sandals that will turn her feet to bloody stumps. She'll be limping at the end of the first day and completely lame by the second if we don't do something now to change her footwear IQ. And call me selfish (it's alright, I can take it) but I don't want our trip ruined by a pair of feet.

Ahh, parents...the children Jason and I will never have. :teeth:

I'll pop back in this afternnon sometime...gotta get something like 9 more posts registered today, does that sound right Postmaster Jeff? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Sometimes I just crack myself up.

B. :goodvibes

Brenda,

They had lots of stuff, t-shirts, jackets, shorts, collectibles. There was stuff from all over, which kind of shocked me! It looks like their inventory depended on what they had for leftovers so I am sure it changes all the time. Definitely worth a trip if you are a HRC fan. I didn't want anything, just wanted to look around. It's only about 10 mins from Disney property and easy to find.
We only collect t-shirts from the ones we've been to, but thanks for the offer! We've found some really great shirts from some of them. If you like shirts, wait till you see the selection in Grand Cayman, it took me about 30 minutes to decide which one I wanted...oh well, the LINE was 30 minutes anyway :rolleyes1

Thanks for the info on the outlet, Cass. It definitely sounds like we will have to get ourselves over there for a look-see. And that's great to hear about GC - we always buy t-shirts from the HRCs that we visit, too. Jay and I have both been guilty of agonizing over just which shirt to buy... our new motto is: When in Doubt, Buy Two!

Completely off topic, but it amused me so much that I just have to share a brief story about our shoe shopping experience today. We were a few minutes early and so we parked ourselves on a bench outside of The Sports Authority while waiting for my mom and step-dad to show up. A few feet away a woman is standing at the curb jingling her car keys and talking on her cell phone while her son (we assumed he was her son) stands in front of the entrance to the store trying to trip the automatic doors without actually moving. For some reason he seemed to think he could trip the motion sensor by barking at it. :confused3 :lmao: :lmao:

Words cannot do justice to the facial expressions of people leaving and entering the store as they walked past this boy (he looked to be about 9 or 10 years old) barking at the doors. Perhaps we shouldn't have laughed, but we did. Actually, I'm laughing just thinking about it now.

So, as this is happening a typically suburban mom leaves the store with three small children in tow. Of note is what appears to be the youngest child, a very cute little girl who could not have been more than three years old. I have no idea what she did or said on her way to the mini-van, but we very clearly heard the mom's voice carry from across the parking lot as she told little Abagail to "focus!" And then, "You have to pay more attention - you have to focus!"

We don't have kids - doubt that we ever will - but does anyone else find the idea of telling a toddler to "focus" just funny? Jason and I have been saying that to each other all day now - it still hasn't lost it's charm. :teeth:

Who would have thought hanging out at the local Sports Authority could be so entertaining? We had no idea. :rotfl2:

And then I come back to the DIS getting the fingers all nimbled up to finally finish that trip report from this May only to discover that my thread has been sort-of hijacked by a very confused individual who doesn't seem to understand how to read my writing. I had to explain to him that it's a form of self-satire and much of it is tongue-in-cheek - ya, know...humor. I thought it was pretty obvious from the way I had written it, but perhaps I'm getting too sophisticated for anyone who doesn't hang out on the cruise boards? ;)

OK, enough of that. Hope everyone else had an equally amusing day today!

See ya'll later.

Brenda :goodvibes

Brenda....ask and you shall receive!!! :thumbsup2

Not to be outdone by my fellow passenger (Brenda) but here is our story of the day. Chuck and I are standing in line behind the cutest little old ladies at our neighborhood Walgreens. It's 8:30 on a Saturday night, so the store was really quiet. Out of the "blew" (oopps...I mean blue) one of them lets one fly! It was so loud and she never even flinched!! :rotfl2: Chuck must not have been very "focused" on his purchase, when he just says "What the hell was that?" He looks at me and says..."J.C. Nance...couldn't you hold it"? I was laughing so hard already at the old lady, that I couldn't even tell him that it wasn't me. :lmao: I had tears running down my face and so did the teenage checkout girl. The ladies (and I use the term loosely) left and the girl says, "Holy Crap...did you hear that too?" I've been giggling about it for the past 2 hours now. :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

:bounce:

And yet one more recipe....

Konk Kooler:

1/2 can cream of coconut
3 ounces light rum
3 ounces dark rum
1/2 of a 12oz can frozen passion fruit juice concentrate(Welches)
4 oz of orange juice
2-3 cups of ice
Add all together in a blender until very fine and serve!

Drop the rum for a non-alcoholic version.

THanks for the recipes, Nancy! I can't wait to try it next weekend. Jason has to work this weekend and it just wouldn't be fair of me to make DCL beverages when he's slaving away and can't really enjoy them.

I love your story - have you ever noticed how no matter what your age is, farting never isn't funny? :teeth: It's always funnier when it's someone else, of course, but it's still funny.

Of course, those noxious fumes are no laughing matter.... :rotfl2:

I admit it - we think bathroom humor is amusing in our household. Two adolescents pretending to be adults, that's Jason and me in a nutshell.

Brenda,

Ahhh, a girl after my own heart. Gross as it may sound, I also think that there is no inappropriate place to "breeze"...except maybe in church, which BTW....I have many funny stories concerning my DS,the beloved gas machine.
That kid can enlighten even the most boring reading of the week. :teeth: I don't know why, but I just think farting is hilarious. :rotfl2: I know, I know...there's the 8 year old in me again.

Hope you enjoy those Konk Koolers. I do have 3 more vacations days left. Maybe I'll do a road trip to MO and be your bartenderess during your time of need. Nothin' but the best for you B!

Jeff, glad to see you're still lurking. Get your DW on this thread once and we "womenfolk" will certainly talk her into joining us in Oct. :smooth:

The AAA discount is $150 for Cats 1-9, so it must be for anything other than an inside cabin. I just moved my January cruise to AAA. We're in a Cat 9 and we got the $150.

Nancy, yes, I'm still lurking. As I said, my January cruise thread is boring. :sad2: Last January's DISers were really fun and you guys (I guess I can call you "guys" after the bathroom humor :rotfl2: BTW, I've been in that Walgreens -if it is the one on Pilgrim and Silver Spring. Being in there, I can totally picture this. DW and I would have both lost it. Needless to say, we would have had to leave the line until they left.) are better than them.

DW only goes on the DIS when I have to show her something or if I mention people talking about scrapbooking. I will let her know that you want to "convert" her.

I have started laying the ground work to make this cruise. DS's 1st grade teacher stopped over last week (he's in private school and they do home visits) and DW told her (I wasn't home) we will be pulling him out for 8 days in January. I guess she wasn't too happy but what could she do. I told DW we need to plan our trips around DS's time off (end of Oct, 1st weekend in March - 5 day weekend, and the first week of June - off 5/31 and camp doesn't start for 1 week). I told her we could go in October and we'll only miss 3 days of school. However, she really wants to get out to California and do what we were going to do this past July (Disneyland and Legoland). I told her we could go in June. I will still have to work on her. I don't think I'll get an answer out of her until after the January cruise. It may come down to her saying she doesn't want to cruise twice in the same year to the same places. However, she'll jump at a 3-night Wonder Cruise though in October. :confused3 Why she won't just go for 4 more nights (which is only about $800 more - we got a deal) I don't know.

So, I will continue to lurk (and post). I will taunt all of you when I sail in, let's see, less than 153. Hopefully you all will not be returning the favor next October.

Jeff, you should know us all by now! We might have let it pass, but since you brought it up, let the taunting begin! :joker:

Nancy, your stories always get me! Here I am, laughing out loud again. My DH just hollered upstairs "What's so funny?" Living with 2 young kids, we really hear the fart jokes. My youngest, who's still rather oblivious to farting etiquette, let one rip the other day, and my oldest shouted "Ooh baby, it's going to smell funny in here real soon! Yep, there it is." I about fell off the couch! Like she was just waiting for the smell to hit her! Kids truly say what they're thinking!

Brenda, I'll have to read your trip reports. I love it when they're sarcastic. So you have the link to the one hijacked by the confused individual. It sounds good! Remember, Focus! ;)

Well, you all enjoy the rest of your weekend! :sunny:

Nancy, you are too good to me. A couple of Konks and a few pain meds and I'd be Disney Dreamin' for sure. ;)

FYI - I took care of linking ressies last week.

Bump............. we were nearly on page two !!!!

Great news for us from UK, ONE SMALL piece of hand luguagge is allowed from tomorrow! Yipee that will make the flight more bearable, with a 4 year old ! :)

What's the matter with you guys?!

You let this thread drop to page 2 again!!!!

Now drop and give me 10 (posts that is).

So, how was my drill sergeant impression? :furious:

Needless to say, just bumping us back to page 1.
