October 20th 2007 Western Magic Part 9

Becky

I am trying the pecan cheesecake recipe. It has 20 minutes left of cooling in the oven. I can not wait to eat it. Maybe tomorrow. It smells so yummy

Becky

We are so bad. Scott and I could not wait any longer to eat the cheesecake. It had been in the oven cooling for the full hour. But then we decided to try it before putting it in the fridge. I would not recommend it but Scott loves it. I think it still needed to set up some. Either cook a little longer or be in the fridge for a while.

Scott asks where the next recipe?

Glad it was good, I sometimes wonder if you can replace the pecan pie with maybe a fruit pie, I might have to try that and let you know. Tell Scott I will look and see what other ones I have. Those 2 are the favorites in the house so I make them all the time. Most times it is just finding them in a recipe book or on one of the cooking shows.

HELP

We need parenting advice please. We have run out of things to try. Mackenzie has only slept through the night one time since we have been back from the trip. Before the trip she always slept for about 10 to 11 hours without getting up. Then she would get up and crawl in bed with us to watch tv or go downstairs to watch tv.

When we got home she saw a comercail on Disney channel about Vampires and Kyle was talking about monsters. Since then she keeps telling us she is having bad dreams. I really don't know if she is or not. When she used to have them she would lay in bed calling for me. Now she gets out of bed anywhere from 2 times to 4 times a night. Sometimes she heads straight downstairs other times she comes into bed with me. She will scream if we try to put her back in her bed. But we do it anyways and she lasts about an hour, then she is back again.

She goes to bed between 7:30 and 8:00. She gets up about 12:30 for the first time and then it is about every hour or two after that.

We don't know what to do. We have tried a few things and nothing seems to work. Can anyone give us any advice.

Carrie,

I had this problem ... alot. I found a book that came with a stuffed toy that hung on the closet door. He was called a closet monster. He was a good closet monster though. He made sure the room and closet were monster free all night. He could hang anywhere, really. I'm not sure if it's still in print, but knowing me, I might still have it. I'll look around. In the mean time, if you have an animal that has velcro hands, try hanging it on the door knob to the closet to protect her from monsters in the room and in the closet.

Have a great day!

I really don't think it is the monsters that are doing it. At the begining maybe. We have tried the whole they are scared of our dog and she won't let them in but that did not seem to work.
I have done the whole spray thing also and that did not work.

I think we will need to brib her.

It's not a bribe...it's an incentive! :thumbsup2

I had one more thought...

What about letting her pick a special doll or stuffed animal at the store...tell her to pick one that will stand up to the monsters and will be her "guardian" ???

Just a thought.....

Cass - loved the b-day pics!

I remeber Thomas's first birthday...he spread the frosting all over his tray...almost like a finger painting!

They grow up so fast...

I have them all - sort of took them! What info do you need from them?

What I want to do is to be able to correctly label each food picture I have. I would hate for you to type it all up--I am wondering if it is on-line somewhere. I took pictures of almost everything we ate at dinner except the oysters rockeller which I was so excited to eat I forgot to take the picture!

Well done Karen.

Where did Jeff get his info when we were all preordering our meals back in September--anyone know?

Hi Jen! What does Thomas want this year for Christmas? Zachary still wants anything Thomas the Tank Engine-related and Teddy is clueless. How can a ten-year old boy not know want he wants for Christmas????

It is a blocked site here on the DIS, so you will have to put it together in the address line of your browser. Go to Castaway Club (dot) Com and look up the menus (they have a link).

Hope that helps.

We're getting Thomas one of those vsmile pocket handheld game things - his cousin (same age) has one and he flipped over it! Grandma's getting him a kidtough camera - he kept wanting to take pics with my camera on the cruise (um, NO!)!

A ten year old who doesn't know what he wants for Christmas??? That IS odd! What's he into? Sports? Games? Science?

(I want a Disney cruise)

BTW - did you have any of the recalled Thomas the Tank Engine pieces?

Hey there Jeff!

I was reading on the '09 dates cruise thread that the latest rumor is Southern Caribbean...

Is that going to tempt you away from Oct. and KK2?

;)

There are only 2 other times that I would be able to cruise and they'd have to be reasonably priced and different (to the point that I'd want to go on them) to get us away from the end of October.

The first time would be the first week to week-and-a-half of June and the latter part of August. Other than that, my summer is booked with work (June 30 year-end).

My problem will be the October Itins may be out but not the Summer. I may switch to 10/24 only to be temped with on over the summer. Hopefully we will hear something by the 2nd week of December (that is the rumor).

great pics cass!!!
love the one with kira and the box.
our son and dil brought addison over for thanksgiving and they brought a few of her toys, including her new favorite toy...an empty box that she climbed in and out of all day!!!

Good Morning Everyone

Our weekend was pretty boring. I can not handle slowing down at all. Thursday we had the kids we went to Scott's dads for a few hours in the mid day. Then we went over to a friends house for the afternoon and evening for our turkery dinner. It was fun haning out with them. But again all I did was sit around at both houses. Scott's stepmom's mother said I looked like I was springloaded and ready to pounces at any time.

carrie, if you get too bored you can always go over and chat with candy.
im sure she needs a friend.:cheer2:
btw. im sending out that navigator you needed today. it was a busy weekend.
we didnt forget about it.:thumbsup2

Cassie & I did the turkey trot on Thanksgiving day.

Here's a few pics.

It was cold and raining.
